Zenonia (iPhone) - 7/10 - Fun, old school action RPG in the vein of Legend of Zelda. Colorful, well-animated graphics. Only about two hours in, but it's cool, ESPECIALLY for a "cell phone game". There's a lot of grinding, though, and when you swing your sword, there's a lot of "miss", which is frustrating beyond belief.
Ragdoll Blaster (iPhone) - 9/10 - Simple and physics-based. Awesome concept and animation. Very clever.
I Dig It (iPhone) - 9/10 - VERY fun and engaging Dig Dug clone/update. Simple concept, but executed effectively. Has that "one more time" quality to it.
Fantastic Contraption (iPhone) - 7/10 - Apparently this is just a re-release for the iPhone, but it's a very interested concept. Basically, you have to get a stock piece from one part of the stage to a goal area by building a contraption in a limited space using only five different types of pieces. Limitless possibilities for solutions and it's extremely logical, but the physics of the thing is often too much for my abstract mind. I usually finish stages by luck. Often too frustrating for a higher score from me.
I got an iPhone recently, by the way.

Mirror's Edge (PS3) - 7/10 - When you're running through a level and cover a lot of ground quickly it's really fun. But then you reach something like a single jump that you fail over and over again and it's so frustrating. It's a nice effort but it falls short (just like the jumps you can't seem to make).
Guitar Hero Aerosmith (PS3) - 7/10 - I don't particularly like Aerosmith's music for the most part but I rather enjoyed this. The songs just seem setup nicely and have enjoyable button patterns.
Bionic Commando (PS3) - ?/10 - Not sure yet but for all of the hype this is def a letdown. The opening cinema was one of the single lamest I have ever seen in my life. Gameplay seems enjoyable mostly but also annoying at times. |

Next Revision
Dead Space - 2/5
It started off really cool, but it keeps dragging on and on and everything I liked about it slowly started to fade away. Now, in Chap 8 or 9 (I hit the "Off" button so fast, I couldn't see) there is nothing but an empty shell of a game. That's not to say everything is bad about it. Yes, the graphics are nice. And yes, the gameplay is smooth. My problem comes from repetition. Zero-Gravity is more annoying than anything I've previously encountered in a 3rd person shooter, and what was declared "One of the Scariest games EVAAAAAR" by tons of reviewers, turned out to be totally bland. The game never really scares, but rather makes you shout "Where the fudge did he come from?!?!?!?!?!" when you hit a switch, back into a corner knowing the door will lock and enemies will appear, and somehow ending up with 4 enemies that spawned in one millimeter of space between your back and the Fudging wall! I went into this game with a healthy amount of criticism, and good thing too. I didn't have monumentally high hopes for this game from the get-go, and now I'm not disappointed. I do not recommend Dead Space.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - 7/10
I played through the 360 version a couple times and really liked it. What's nice is that the levels are designed much to totally differently so its a new experience. The game looks great and the audio is excellent as well, but sometimes the game freezes when changing cutscenes or too much is happening on screen. Only for a second but it still sucks.

Funny, I was just playing some of that tonight and noticed the same freezing before cutscenes and QTEs, it really freaks you out for a second because you think your PSP froze. I would have to give it a 8/10 just because the Historical Missions are really cool.

Great old school shooter action. Psikyo always does great stuff. However its pretty much a straight arcade port, and you can't even change the amount of continues so you're basically in a loop of the levels. That and its $12. I would've really liked to of seen it $10 max. But in short bursts, which is why I bought it, its really fun.

Wanted: Weapons of Fate - 6/10 - The abilities are cool, gameplay is nothing special, graphics are below average.
Quantum of Solace - 6/10 - Nothing special here.
Mirror's Edge - 7/10 - Interesting game, does get repetitive.
MK vs DC Universe - 7/10 - I like how both sides have a story mode. Not the best selection of characters, but they grow on you .
Halo Wars - 7/10 - Good RTS, does get a tad repetitive.
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts - 8/10 - Great game if you need a break from all those shooters. The game is easily accepted by all ages, don't let the "kiddie" look fool you. Building vehicles does get a bit tiresome.

Wii Sports Resort - 8.5/10 - This game is awesome. The motion controls work well usually (the jet skiing one kind of sucks), and it easily lends itself to dozens of hours of play. Contrary to what I expected the in-game achievements are incredibly difficult. They really want you master some of these games... and in that regard it's probably the most difficult Nintendo game since Super Mario Sunshine. Mostly played the one where you fly the plane around the island, and also a bunch of sword fighting and archery.
A good example of the difficulty is that I tried to hit the secret targets in the archery game for a bit more than an hour, of which there are 4 easy, 4 medium, and 4 difficult ones. I hit 2 of the easy ones, found 3 of the medium ones, and found 2 of the hard ones. You're shooting in one direction and have about a 45 degree range of motion and I still couldn't even FIND some of the damned targets

Infinite Undiscovery Way underrated game. I liked it a lot. The graphics are great most of the time and the story and gameplay are pretty cool. Its more of a hack-and-slash than an RPG so It would be wrong to compare it to FF or anything of the like. There almost no strategy involved in fights but still it was interesting enough to keep me going till the end.
There are mainly 3 things wrong with the game:
-Voice work/Lip Synch is horrible. Hearing "someone please heal them" 100 times in 1 boss fight gets annoying. Its all about the english dub....where the hell are the original Jap voices? Minus 1
-Real time menu. It makes it almost impossible to use items, monsters will kick the crap out of you while you search for an antidote. Bad design decision. Minus 1
-button smashing, there not much more to do when youre fighting but to smash. Minus 1
Score 7 out of 10. Pretty good, specially if you got it for $10! |

Errg, it's like I want to get them all so I feel like I'll have beaten the game but they're skillfully and even physically demanding!

Red Faction Guerilla - 9/10
Only about a half hour or so into it, but it's awesome. The gameplay is nice and smooth and there is some pretty cool mission variety. All the vehicles feel and control differently. The "collectables" that you can get throughout the game are actually worth a damn too, they allow you to upgrade certain weapons or allows you to buy new equipment.
I was kind of afraid that I wouldn't like it, because I played the demo and the demo seemed like it was really hard. Probably because there was no intro or anything, it just dropped you in the middle of a mission and I had no idea what to do. Very fun game and I'll be spending alot of time with it!

PS3 Quantum of Solace - 7/10
Decent FPS, but barely keeps a story within the game...
Drop in one area, shoot stuff, exit area. Stupid cutscene that is almost like following a Bond movie by reading the script. Drop in another different area, rinse, wash, repeat.
It has some stealth moments to shake things up a bit, and its got all the voice actors from the new Bond movies, so that's good.
PS3 Lost; Via Domus - 6/10
I only got this because I am a fan of Lost, and it fits within the mindset of the Lost universe. Some of the voice acting is terrible, but a few actors from the show do provide dialogue for their characters, which satasfied me. A few things could have done with a little more polishing like the controls and inventory, but I still had a decent outing with it. Oh, and its short. : /
