'ello...haven't been in this forum since....only god knows. Anyhoo, I noticed Alpha's wii forum is inactive, so I didn't know where else to post this. I guess General could have worked...anyway, has anyone heard of this Connection Ambassador program that Nintendo is having for wii? Apparently if you help someone connect their wii online, you both fill out some survey and get 500 points each. The helper can do this to multiple people, to collect points. What's the vig here

Don't offer up points you idiots, flesh out your online service into something worth using instead.

really? damn...that sucks. So I can't help any amurricans get set up and get points for it? Ugh...where on earth am I gonna find people willing to do this. I don't even know anyone with a wii!
"If a player can get 10 people connected, they will achieve gold status and can download every Nintendo published NES game for free on VC, as well as receiving a total of 5,000 Wii Points. If he/she can connect 20 or more people to the Internet, they'll hit platinum status, and receive a total of 10,000 Wii Points to spend on WiiWare games and can download ALL NES, Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 games on Virtual Console for FREE."
WOW. I can't believe they're offering that...that's pretty huge.

I don't get why Nintendo is still so afraid of jumping fully and effectively on the online train.....or ship.

Well they're doing fine without it. I like to think they know they're too late for this generation so they're planning some amazing online service for their next console.
I know I'm wrong though

Well, I know they're doing fine...but I think it could only help them to make a not-so-insignificant percentage of their customers a good amount happier. I can't see a downside...people who don't care, wouldn't be hurt by it. Why on earth would something like Wii Sports Resort not be online, for example?
And yeah, I know what you mean...but I mean, look how half-assed the online on Gamecube was. The Wii should have been the fruit of the planning ahead and realizing they were too late with GC...

Their excuse was because many of the games are turn-based so it is better to play those with friends in the same room. And the ones that have two players playing at the same time such as the ping pong game could be ruined with even the tiniest bit of lag. They did say they'd look in to adding an online leaderboard if enough people wanted it, but that is useless. Look at the leaderboard of any online Wii game (Mario Kart, Mario Strikers, The Conduit etc.) and they are all filled with cheaters. Legit players will never get to be on the leaderboard. | DrizzDrizzDrizz

Yeah I heard the argument about it being better in the same room...while I may agree, sure it's better that way, but why exclude an alternative option. Some people may prefer to play online, or they have no friends to play with, or they just want the option of doing either or. Saying "well....this way is better. You don't need online, trust us" just comes off as...arrogant, in a way. I love Nintendo. But come onnnnnn. One example is playing Mario Kart online, you know how you can make a little "room" with your friends..and you can send them these preset messages. Why on earth wouldn't they allow you to do your own typing, either by USB keyboard or with an on-screen keyboard. I mean, it's ridiculous.
Yeah, I've seen the Mario Kart leaderboards (only online game I have) and it's awful looking at the Top 10 times of anything.
