i plan on playing a lot of older classic games around the holidays this year, but i have an x box sitting in a box in my closet that i barely have ever used. i haven't been a huge fan of the 360 and am interested in possibly trying it out in the future. i don't know how often people check this discussion page which is why i figured i might as well make this now. i have GTA IV resident evil 5 and olbvion. nothing else really jumped out at me. i do not play live, nor do i plan on getting it. also i would like to not have to buy new games or games that cost upwards of 40-50 bucks. so hopefully with this little description maybe some people could give me a view good pointers of good games? thanks any responses will be appreciated. |

Based on the three games you have, I'd make these suggestions:
Crackdown
Dead Rising
Mass Effect
Gears of War
Fallout 3
You should be able to find the first three games under $20; the last two games might be a little more, but still under $30.

I only played Fable 2 for six or seven hours, so I can't give a valid opinion on it either way. Though, I suppose that in admitting that I stopped playing it after only 5 hours, I've implied that I didn't think too highly of it. It is a highly regarded game, though.
With that said, I think that if you like Oblivion, you might like Fable 2. It isn't an open world RPG to the same effect as Oblivion, but you have the freedom to roam, and are asked to make a lot of decisions that can affect your character and the world around you. I also think the battle system is much, much better in Fable 2 than in Oblivion. You also get a dog who finds treasure, which is awesome. If you like non-linear, Action RPGs, Fable 2 is a good one to check out.

I'll be honest - I didn't like the majority of the games I suggested. But, it's more a matter of taste than of quality - I really do think that they are well-crafted games despite not enjoying them all that much. I liked Gears of War enough to play through it once, but not enough to go back to it or play through the sequel.
Regarding Mass Effect, if you can, I suggest doing the optional install on that. I played it before that option became available and it wasn't a good experience - the framerate stuttered during some of the action and the 360 got as loud as it probably could get. I don't mean to deter you from playing it - it's definitely worth trying even if you can't do the install. I just heard that it plays a lot better after the install.

well what games do you enjoy for the 360? fallout 3 seemed too complex for me, and dead rising just seemed like too much of a shoot em up kind of game. and i can see why you picked those games based off of the games i have. but i am open to any suggestions |

These are probably my favorite 360 games:
The Orange Box
Lost Planet
Bioshock
Oblivion
Fallout 3
Dead Space
Burnout Paradise
Viva Pinata Trouble in Paradise (1st one is good, too)
Devil May Cry 4
Prince of Persia
I also liked Mass Effect. And, just a thought: I found Fallout 3 to be a lot less complex than Oblivion.

Dark Sector
Call Of Juarez
Too Human
Are all very good, underated, and under $10 games.
