It's extremely simple and certainly no showcase, but it plays well and I liked it. Compared to Wiepout (the only other racer I've played on Vita) it doesn't hold a candle and isn't worth discussing. But as a diversion I enjoyed Asphault. > what kind of racer does it most compare to? Old-school Burnout (the first game, not Paradise) but without traffic. > but i prefer racers without speedpads/pickups. Asphault's core game mechanic is turbo-based including turbo pickups. I think close-calls earn you boost but you basically try to collect 3 turbos. That'll max you out and then once you hit the turbo button you turn into superman and if you even graze another car, they crash and you keep going go. That goes until the boost depletes (it's a one-hit wonder like the Turbo in NFS:HP). So you earn Boost until it maxes out, then it becomes a Turbo (if NFS lingo makes more sense Other pickups are mostly money (used to buy other cars or upgrade current ones), and I think a shield. I don't remember there being attach weapons due to the boost attack being a 1-hit kill. It's an extremely simple and easy game, but trophies pop regularly, it's fun, and it's also much, much easier on the eyes and fingers than Wipeout. ![]() |

| Minty | #25 posted January 7, 2013 at 6:57pm (EDT) Free RCR = forgot?edited January 7, 2013 at 7:02pm (EDT) Vita simply doesn't have a library as established as the PS3's, so it was quite obvious that the trickle of free games is going to be rather slow-going given that not all publishers will be willing to have their games put up. The only thing it's lacking in so far is game discounts, but again, same case about the publishers apply here. I can see them "fixing it" by adding in free PSP and PSOne Classics though (and personally I'd love it). Archer wrote: > The next title I am patiently waiting for Vita is FFX. Having Ys, Disgaea, etc. on it (plus the psp library) pulls in RPGers. Casual games like pinball, lumines, etc, all excellent. I mean, sure, it would be great if we magically had 100 games right away, but it seems to me it's pretty hard to keep up with just the quality games already out.
