Description

This is the extended version of The Fellowship of the Ring, with 30 minutes of additional footage.

I am going to concentrate on just the extra footage, but if you want to read more about this great movie, than please see my other review:
Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring

It is hard to believe that this amazing film could be improved upon, but that is exactly what they have done with this extended copy. There were two areas of the film that were greatly improved upon.
The first was the opening sequence, in which the Hobbits and their history were explained more.
The second was later in the movie when the Fellowship meets up with Galadriel. In the original theatrical version, the Fellowship leaves the woods with gifts from Galadriel, but they never explained about these gifts, and they end up being used constantly in the next movies. That is were this extended version fills in the holes. There is new footage in which she is shown giving each member of the Fellowship gifts and where they came from.

This set comes with 4 discs and is presented in a very nice hardback book-style case. There are plenty of documentaries and behind the scenes special features to keep the Lord of the Rings fan happy.

The same con that I stated on the other review can be applied to this one. Some fans did not like the fact that the movie was not exactly like the book. Once again, see my other review for further explanation of that.

Thanks,
Bobby
