Description

The Number Twelve Looks Like You- Put On Your Rosy Red Glasses

This record is perfection in every sense of the word. This sextet from NJ takes the conventions of screamo and grindcore and blows them out of the water.

I can only do a track by track breakdown to do it justice.

1. Don't Get Blood On My Prada Shoes-

While clocking in at around 2 minutes, this song fits so many elements of music into it. Its fast paced, angry, and based off a Poe short story, The Tell Tale Heart. What's not to love?

2. Jesus And Tori-
Wow. Starts with an amazing guitar riff and builds into an epic death math grind screamo core whatever fest and is brutal, intense, and fast.

3. Document:Grace Budd-
An excerpt from a letter by serial killer/rapist/cannibal (yikes) Albert Fish detailing his capture, murder, and eating of ten year old girl Grace Budd. Appropriately revolting and creepy.

4. Blue Dress-
The hardest song on the album and by far the most aggressive.

5. If These Bullets Could Talk-
Words cannot describe this song. It is simply beautiful.

6. Bambi The Hooker-
59 seconds of grindcore brutality.

7. Empty Calm-
Acoustic instrumental gives breathing room for the epic finale...

8. Civeta Dei....
This is musical perfection. Melodic, grinding, chugging, aggressive, personal, and simply amazing musicianship. BUY THIS SONG above all others.

In conclusion, if you like grindcore and high pitched dualing screams, this is the ultimate record for you. Its fast, loud, and violent. And oh so delicious.

What it sounds like:

For those who don't know, grindcore is often characterized by fast erratic guitars, time shifts, and high pitched vocals. 12 stays true to this with their two high screaming vocalists, extremely talented guitarist, and unpredictable sound. The closest band to them soundwise would probably be The Blood Brothers. This is their first album, but is still amazing today, with two more out.
