When you fill out the Customs Declaration when you're sending your game, always mark the item with a reasonable declared value...normally I would suggest $10.00 or less. I always do the same thing, and it saves both of us having to pay additional Customs charges when the game arrives. While it's debatable that paying tax for used items is justifiable (for instance, if I buy a used wheelbarrow or used coffee cup, no taxes are levied), it's actually besides the point; the amount of tax on the actual value of a used game is really quite minimal. It amounts to a buck or two...I don't have a problem with that. What people seem to fail to comprehend that it's the Customs processing fee that's the issue. Of the 8 or 10 dollars collected in Customs charges, the tax portion is a buck or two; it's the processing fee that's up to five times this amount. This is not a tax - it's extortion!....LOL. This is quite simple to avoid in the first place by using what's considered to be a simple and reasonable thought process before shipping. I would certainly not ask someone to do anything illegal, but the last time I checked, being reasonable isn't illegal (yet). While you and I may have an increased personal value of our items, these are used games folks - they're value is not retail. So........ if Customs charges are due when your game arrives, and the declared value claimed is NOT reasonable, your game will be refused. Claiming a declared value of a $10 game as retail can easily cost over $8 in Customs charges. No more - I won't pay.** | ||||||
