Comment (last update: 7-Jul-2008 5:43am) Funny things that come up in offers:
Hmm...last I checked, we didn't even HAVE first class shipping in Canada. Taking a quick peek on Canada Post's website, we have the following options: Xpresspost USA Expedited Parcel USA Small Packet Letter-post The item in question here was a boxed NES game, meaning that even IF they accepted a cartridge in a bubble mailer as letter mail, which my PO does NOT allow, it would still negate that option by being too large. Now, I NEVER ship boxed items in a bubble mailer unless the buyer accepts the risk of damage, and even then I take appropriate steps to ensure it's safe arrival. But for the sake of this argument, I will simply say it would be shipped in a box...that way I don't have to tack on $2.50 for the cost of the bubble mailer. So the three remaining options to ship to the US for a parcel weighing up to 1lb, plus the cost to ship, are as follows: Xpresspost USA (3-5 business days) - $17.95 to $21.10 Expedited Parcel USA (6-12 business days) - $11.85 to $13.40 (Note that both of these options include Delivery Confirmation and are insured up to $100 CDN. Also, additional insurance may be purchased, at an extra cost.) Small Packet Air (4-10 business days) - $8.55 This is how I ship Small Packet Surface (6-12 business days) - $7.20 (Note that both Small Packet options DO NOT include Delivery Confirmation, and DO NOT have the option to have it added to them. DC is only available on Xpresspost and Expedited parcels. Packets are insured for up to $100, however, the option for additional insurance is merely a fantasy.) Now you may be asking, "If $8.55 is what it costs for the option you use, why do you charge $10?" Simple - it covers miscellaneous expenses, such as PayPal fees, travel time to the post office (gas ain't cheap people!), etcetera. Most times, I actually LOSE money when I charge $10 to ship an item. So don't be offended when I laugh at your offers of $5 shipped...that may be what the item is worth, but I do like to MAKE money seling things, not LOSE money. And for those who wish to see for themselves, and see the entire breakdown, go to http://www.canadapost.ca/personal/tools/pg/prices/... and take a peek. | |||
