Bad Trader Reports

In brief, he cheated me out of what was agreed to in our trade, and lied about when he had shipped the items. Also, his account went 'inactive' within days of me sending him an email asking for where the missing items were. Hmmmmm...

Here are the details:

Martin solicited me for the sale of his N64 system and some games after seeing my unsuccessful attempt at coming to terms with another trader on GameTZ. He had 31 trades in the books, with only one iffy report, so I trusted him. That proved to be a mistake.

Here is the text of our trade report, WHICH HE COMPOSED!:
"N64 w/ all hook-ups, two controllers, goldeneye, perfect dark, world is not enough (complete), conker's bfd (complete w/ strategy guide), expansion pack".
I did not get:
1. Goldeneye
2. The proprietary L/R audio & yellow video cable (which I consider to be part of "all hook-ups", especially since the cable shipped with the original N64 package).

Also, his home page on GameTZ describing the N64 system which he had for sale says: "All games and accessories are in perfect condition so make me an offer today!**"
Well, the console is missing the cover over the 4M expansion pack, and the console itself is NOT in 'perfect condition'; it has several nicks and dings (from normal 'take it to different TVs and/or over to your friend's house' use).

As the final kicker, I promptly sent to him a postal money order 1 day after we agreed to terms, which he received on a Saturday. He said that he would mail the package on Monday. I checked with him Wednesday after not hearing from him, and he claimed that he had sent it Tuesday instead of Monday, PRIORITY MAIL. Well, by two Saturdays later, still no package, and all along he was stringing me along with 'I can't find the shipping receipt' or 'I've had trouble with Priority Mail before when shipping a console' BS. I finally got the package, with minimal protective packing, on Monday, 13 days after he claimed to have shipped it!!! When he finally gave to me the shipping tracking number, the USPS web site showed that the package had been mailed the Friday before the Monday I got the package. So much for Priority Mail being a problem!!!

After receiving the very late package, I emailed him with a courteous but concerned letter identifying what was missing, and asked when I would be receiving the missing items. No response at all. Nor to a subsequent email either.

He has now dropped off the scene, so I guess I'll never get my missing items. If I do, I'll be sure to update my trade report and this 'bad trader' listing. Until then however, consider yourself warned.
