Trying to quickly finish the Movie/OVA collection for Ranma 1/2 since it's about to be not mine. The movies were less good than I remember (actually by the time you're halfway through the second movie you're like BUT THIS IS ALMOST LITERALLY THE FIRST MOVIE), but had excellent animation, especially the second one. The OVAs are very high quality too, similar storylines to most of Ranma 1/2 but it's weird how throwing good money at animation and music improves the formula so drastically. Even the ending song on the OVAs, you listen and you're like "Wow, that was money". Also having a full 30 minutes instead of half an hour minus commercial breaks is nice. The second movie has a really nice credits song!
It also looks like the OVAs keep continuity after the movies with subtle references, so this feels like a comprehensive package somewhat. Not sure where or how this ties into the series if at all since I haven't gotten past Season 6 yet. Great box set and excellent stories so far, looking forward to more.
Then back to Super Dragon Ball, where I'd just finished the Zamasu arc. Or would you call that the Goku Black arc
Actually the second movie pisses me off now that I'm not 14 and can understand it (other than the obvious fanservice which is still awesome). The lord-kid of this island is like "This sacred cursed ever-man sap is a curse, but it protects the island as well", and at the end of the movie Ranma decides in order to save himself and Akane he has to blow it to Hell BUT OF COURSE HE DOES, RESOLUTION WOULD BE THE DEATH OF THE SHOW. But like, the lord-kid and inhabitants don't really seem to care, which is strange for something that was supposedly so vital to their island and has fudgeed them over so hard for so long. Not to mention that this, EFFECTIVELY, is a giant floating rape island where only more rapist men are born. But the show makes the men seem like nice dudes so whatever, we'll just call it Stockholme Syndrome Island. Catch and release, 9 months later, all the women are willing participants. Whatever. But the PROBLEM is this spring makes it so only men are born... but they don't destroy it because they NEED IT... but once it's destroyed they're like "NP, the sap will collect in another hundred years, don't even worry bro". SO WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THE FUDGING MOVIE THEN oh but it's got a nice ending song
I've been watching military themed anime lately. I've watched GATE and Alderamin in the Sky. I liked the strategy element of the latter. Does anyone else have any recommendation for anime similar to these?
