Anyone else excited for AEW Dynamite tonight?
(This post turned out way longer than I intended, but some points I felt shouldn't be left out)
I don't rally for WWE, I've said time and time again the product is subpar and Vince needs to die in order for the company to improve. I don't sit here wishing for his death every day, but I know that's what it's going to take. Just retiring won't be enough because he will find a way to come back the second he thinks he needs to. That pop he got on the first SmackDown with a live crowd last month, I'm sure that comforted his ego.
I don't single lazarro out, I just wanted to know if he was a long time fan (like pre-Attitude Era at a minimum), what is the company doing now that is so much worse than the past? I don't want to imply that he or anyone else is not allowed to have an opinion.
Not that I want to use Twitter as the standard (because it's such a cesspool) but a lot of those people whining on Twitter look to be in their early-mid 20s and never experienced what I feel are the real low points of the company's history. It might be bad now, but they don't even know. I don't forget the feeling of embarrassment I had when I invited a non-wrestling fan friend over to my house on the night of a WWF PPV that had Razor Ramon putting 1-2-3 Kid in a friggin' diaper. Now that is bad creative. As I was entering my teenage years it felt like they were still marketing the product at 7 year olds, but yet I continued watching despite garbage moments like that or Bastion Booger or...anything involving Doink The Clown. In that way I feel like history has started to repeat itself in some ways.
So yeah, I agree overall the product is subpar but I also don't think it's as bad as a lot of fans act like it is. As a big fan of Keith Lee, if I'm booking he'd for sure be in the main event picture. Karrion Kross wouldn't be losing to Jeff Hardy in two minutes (though I admit I like the Karrion Kross gimmick more than I like the dude portraying it). I will express my disappointment of those situations, but those men speaking up about it themselves is going to mean a lot more than me doing it on their behalf.
I want to point out an interview with Ari Sterling that I read shortly after he was released. He goes on to talk about how fans on Twitter were crapping on the name he was "given" by WWE since day one. His response was along the lines of "I wasn't given the name, I chose it myself, so those people hating on it are just making fun of me" and that the people complaining he was being misused by them placing him on 205 Live, he was cool with it and the experiences he learned that he wouldn't have learned on the indies. Another example would be when Goldberg squashed Brock a few years back. It was disappointing and didn't make much sense, but apparently was Brock's idea.
WWE's creative team gets a lot of flack, but it's not always fair. You have to understand they're writing for an audience of one: Vince. When the overall product is as bad as it currently is, all fingers should be pointed at him and him alone (well, maybe his yes men as well, Prichard and Kevin Dunn).
I completely understand what you're saying, and I didn't mean to imply you were singling anyone out, I was just using your specific question as a reference for mine. Apologies if it seemed any other way.
When I call out WWE's creative, I know it's Vince and those yes men - they ARE the creative that are being criticized. Dunn is more on the production side but Bruce is an executive director. Of course there are technical "writers" who write the shows but it's the show runners (like Bruce) + Vince are the final "gates" who ultimately decide the stories and that's the problem. I'll also throw it out there - input from wrestlers should also be considered a "creative" responsibility. If they were bad ideas, regardless of whoever came up with the idea, creative should have shot it down. If Brock suggested something lame, creative should have come up with something better or WWE shouldn't have allowed themselves to be held at gunpoint by Lesnar's every whim at the expense of the show's integrity. But that's just how they do business unfortunately.
Otherwise I don't really get swayed by what random toxic Twitter users say - they definitely are just whiny weirdos like you said. I'm just talking for myself. I'm personally more bored by WWE now than I've been in forever (and that's not just because the other company).
Also Becky squashing Bianca was fudging awful and not only tanked Bianca's legit momentum but also tanked the fans' good will on Becky. It won't be long before she gets the Charlotte treatment from the internet.
WALTER vs Draganov is Match of the Year contender easy. Holy crap that was great.
looool they muuuuuurdered Karrion Kross' entire character.image
Ahhh Demolition. Love Demolition. Oh my god this company.
Adam cole free agent after this week from wwe
(Insert opinion here)
becky confirmed to be top heel on smackdown and lesnar top face on smackdown
not surprised about lesnar as wwe never had a strong face to begin with, since they were tossing(booking wrestlers to fight Reigns on short terms basis
the lynch-belair squash was the result of sasha banks not being at summerslam and wasn't for an injury. I'm already speculating about the booking decision but i'll keep quiet.
didn't get a chance to watch dynamite last night busy watching netflix, should be able to watch rampage.
Now wwe is saying they are not interested in indie wrestlers
hey i know who will sign them
so i read impact isn't getting enough viewers,
i have no idea how much longer they can survive if they are airing on minor cable station
miss rampage yesterday did i miss anything
Impact will be fine. They lasted this long and there's no reason to they'd stop. Low ratings, in their case, is sort of the norm.
Watching the NWA 73 PPV right now. Pretty decent show. The wrestling is definitely a bit more old school-leaning but I think that's a neat alternative to WWE's "entertainment" and AEW's indie style. Good time to be a wrestling fan with all this variety to choose from. Although it is sorta weird to hear some wrestlers enter that old school blue NWA ring to hip hop or metal haha.
Cool to see Ric Flair make his NWA return tonight though, even if his promo featured a lot of rambling and almost endless praise to McMahon and HHH.
About to watch the NWA World's Title match - Nick Aldis (c) vs. Trevor fudging Murdoch. You fellas may remember him as one half of the mid-2000s WWE tag team Cade and Murdoch. He's a bit of a plumper boy but he fits the NWA aesthetic perfectly - his look and style reminds me a lot of Dusty Rhodes or Harley Race. Apparently he promised to leave pro wrestling if he couldn't beat Aldis for the belt tonight, so this could (and probably will) be a retirement match.
Also yall gotta watch the Starz show Heels with Stephen Amell. Really great show and a decent look into the inner workings of indie wrestling (even if the show presents it a bit more like the old territory days). Not a huge Amell fan but he's starting to grow on me a bit in this show, even if his performance can still be a little too stiff at times. Everything surrounding him is pretty great though, and after tonight's episode (which featured CM Punk in a great role), I'm really looking forward to what's to come next week.
Whoa Murdoch actually won. Ended Aldis' 1044 day title run.
this week will be week 1 of me not watching current wwe programming
if im gonna watch wrestling i'll watch
AEW or older wwe programming/other older promotions
i could care less what happens in the wwe now, makes me want to turn away from it
Haha my man, I agree with you that WWE is pretty bad right now but that is roughly your 598th post sharing that sentiment.
> Haha my man, I agree with you that WWE is pretty bad right now but that is roughly
> your 598th post sharing that sentiment.
it wont be my last but ill try and not post that much unless i find something new to crow about among wrestling news
going to try and watch AEW today i'm so hyped to watch this show
btw anyone notice on wwe how riccochet has been buried and not appearing on tv that much
i'm laughing how wwe continues its trend promoting matches that never happens
> it wont be my last but ill try and not post that much unless i find something new
> to crow about among wrestling news
I mean by all means post, it'd just be a neat breath of fresh air to see you post positive things about the shows you DO want to watch as opposed to just crapting on WWE constantly. I do totally understand the desire to keep beating that particular dead horse because they're a frustrating company and it's easy but part of my semi-move away from WWE means that I'm going to move my focus on gassing up the products I do like and just not bothering with what I don't.
And yah, WWE needs to do something else with Ricochet or let the poor man jump ship already. There are so many incredible wrestlers that I miss watching legitimately competitive matches from because they're regulated to Main Event or something.
Also which AEW show are you gonna try to watch? Dark? That's the only one that's on tonight and I was actually thinking how bad I wanna check it out tonight too. I am happy with how badly I actually WANT to watch wrestling throughout my days lately. That's a feeling I haven't had in a long, long time.
Yep from don't make wwe chairman of the board angry with matches or ideas for a show that will ultimately not happen
Lmao after reading a certain article
But you know what instead of watching wwe
Play video games
Read a book
Watch other tv shows
Rather than waste my time
And in the realm of pro wrestling
Watch etc etc etc
and probably not be as salty about them as most of us are about WWE
missed AEW dark
but i am excited its Dynamite Night for AEW
interesting how Jericho accepted a career match vs MJF in their feud. I sense there's a reason behind this part of the storyline maybe to be MJF to save his career
Time to rant
Alexa bliss at raw and not used
Can anyone say maybe let go in the future
I'm really excited for All Out this weekend! It's so much fun to watch wrestling when you really enjoy it. I look forward to wrestling 4 days a week, that's wild!
Actually I take back my rant
Maybe writers deserve a pass when Vince isn't happy to the nth degree but I heard he was not happy with the raw writers and ripped copies of script
But man those writers are imbiciles
> Actually I take back my rant
> Maybe writers deserve a pass when Vince isn't happy to the nth degree but I heard

Being a part of the WWE creative team has to be one of the worst jobs in the industry. Who knows how many good ideas were thrown out simply because Vince didn't like them? And when they do come up with something good, Vince is the one who gets the credit for it, because it had to get his approval to appear on his show.
Unfortunately travel plans have caused AEW to cancel the planned Andrade vs PAC match scheduled for AEW All Out. They've rescheduled for a future episode of Rampage. Fingers crossed for a full-show hour long broadway.
But gosh darn this card is still looking badass. I've been going back and forth between All Out, Double or Nothing, or Revolution as to what's AEW's "Wrestlemania" and I feel like this card firmly establishes All Out as that.
AEW ALL OUT 2021

(adding another reason to continue not watching wwe programming)
i manage to watch the first match on aew dynamite not a bad match
however i was trying to watch a movie that i lost interested in, Therefore i went to one of my www watching alternative activities and played castlevania curse of darkness instead. Eliminating the enemies released my wrath about wwe, lol.
PWG's website are taking pre orders for their next Blu Ray release, their first post-lockdown show Mystery Vortex 7. This will be my first time ordering a PWG show as soon as it goes up for sale as most of my collection has been via DVD hunting. PWG crowds are usually crazy so I can't wait to see the atmosphere at their first show back.
Also Bandido vs Black Taurus in the main event. If you've never heard of Black Taurus, look him up. Horrifying individual. Sort of like if Mantaur's evil brother came and blood sacrificed him for a wrestling career.
And now some crapty news, popular female wrestler Daffney was found dead after live streaming on Instagram where she was talking about killing herself. There was a desperate search among wrestling personalities last night during and after Dynamite but nobody was able to get in touch with her.
So unfortunate. She had worked for WCW, TNA, NWA and ROH in the past and had acted a bit. Awful news.
That's sad daffney had mental problems and felt being alone. Must have been at the point where she felt better to be at peace with herself.
Labor Day weekend is a good weekend not to watch any wwe programming
I'll be doing my other interests
I do like to watch tv
But I like science fiction, sports and real reality tv like cooking shows or paranormal shows
I don't consider current wwe programming a watchable product unless it's something to view and waste your time
Arighty, it's one thing to criticize them when they actually produce trash but to arbitrarily post in a wrestling discussion thread to say that you're going to do random activities other than watch wrestling solely because you dislike WWE is a little much haha
We get it my man, you don't like WWE, but tbh it has gotten to the point where it still feels like you're more focused on WWE than any other promotion despite claiming to hate them so hard. You never post specific things regarding what you enjoy about any other promotion's weekly shows, but consistently post specifics regarding what you hate about WWE.
Leave em in the dust and watch what you like, no need to dwell like they're an ex-girlfriend.
then i'll keep quiet unless i have something constructive to say
Talk about the wrestling you enjoy, about as constructive as one needs to be haha
> surprise surprise
> now vince is controlling what happens on nxt now
It was originally reported by Bryan Alvarez that Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard were now going to produce NXT and be more hands-on after the rebranding happens in a couple of weeks, but Meltzer has since said that isn't true at all and Triple H actually had a meeting with the NXT roster to specifically confirm that. It is unlikely there will be changes to the booking/creative/production teams within NXT. Vince just wanted it to have a fresh coat of paint with the new logo and opening theme.
One thing they need is to get into a bigger venue because the CWC just doesn't cut it. I don't know exactly how many fans it fits, but it's a lot less than what TNA would get in the Impact Zone in Orlando.
Guaranteed the reports of "no more midgets" is still in effect. If Vince wants it retooled, it isn't just a "coat of paint" logo/theme situation. Triple H may still be "in charge" but as you've said several times, it comes down to Vince at the end of the day. Where it used to come down to ONLY Triple H for NXT, Vince is 100% overseeing NXT now with Triple H still running the day-to-day.
Hope everyone has a nice Labor Day weekend I'll be off Monday from work
Didn't get a chance to watch rampage
Dark I think you have some sort subscription service I think
I'll enjoy playing castlevania and maybe a wrestling game
Anyone watching All Out as it airs tomorrow night? Don't think I can be any more hyped for a wrestling show in 2021, AEW has done a great job building this card.
Jon Moxley showed up tonight at GCW "Art of War Games" and beat Matt Cardona for the GCW title. Wrestling rules. I'll admit it, I didn't give a fudge about GCW until the perfect storm of Nick Gage's Dark Side of the Ring episode and Cardona pinning him to win the belt but I had always heard rumblings about what was going on there. And my god.... if you thought ECW was "hardcore" then GCW is the reason I just put that word in quotations when referring to ECW. GCW had a War Games match tonight and it was DUMB violent but also wildly entertaining.
I'm not much for the deathmatch/hardcore wrestling scene but there is something to be said about GCW and how their legend has grown over the past few years, and I can take their brand of wrestling every once in a while. Plus their World title picture has been booked near-perfect for the past half year or so. Cardona being interjected shed a whole new light on the company, but now after tonight it seems it was ultimately just a road block on the way to an obligatory Mox vs. Gage match.
They also had Mox show up under a hood at first, as a "druid" for the wrestler G-Raver. When Cardona showed up a few months ago to challenge Gage, he was dressed as a druid too - and did Moxley-style movements to swerve the crowd. It rules to see them tie that back in with Mox now showing up to drop Cardona. Great booking.
Also, ps, Matt Cardona was an incredible World champ and an incredible heel for the past 2 months. I really hope he taps into that with whatever he does next, it was so gosh darn entertaining - especially tonight.
matt cardona was mostly a face type wrestler in wwe so the fact he's a heel now good provide some experience on the other side of the fence in terms of being cheered or jeered.
i will mention my favorite heel wrestlers
1. Hogan-who would have that thought he would change wwe programming
2 triple H- king of kings persona would never fit a face
3. Ravishing rick rude
4. iron sheik
5. ric flair
notables: shawn micheals, rick martel, the miz, and seth rollins

1, stone cold steve austin-love the my way dont care attitude
2. ultimate warrior

1. road warriors/legion of doom
2. the rockers
3. harlem heat

AEW All Out 2021 is starting right now. Pumped to BE pumped for wrestling.
5 of the 10 matches left, All Out is already the best wrestling show of 2021 so far. Mox/Kojima was WILD and Suzuki showed up to challenge Mox. Miro/Kingston was way better than expected, some wildly hard hitting wrestling. And Bucks/Lucha Bros is legit MOTY contender - that crap was fudging wild and probably the best cage match I've seen in quite a while.
You're missing a great show if you're not watching this right now.
RUBY SOHO (fka Ruby Riott) shows up in AEW's Casino Battle Royale! Complete with the Rancid song and all!
Adam Cole BAYBAY is All Elite. image
Bryan nasty Danielson is All Elite. image
That was one of, if not the single best pro wrestling PPV I've ever had the pleasure to watch. Holy crap.
That tag team cage match was amazing. My favorite match by far.
> That tag team cage match was amazing. My favorite match by far.
Oh yah that was by far match of the night. There wasn't a bad match on the card tbh - even QT vs Tall Paul was just a quick breather between the two marquee matches and it didn't wear out its welcome. Just as close to a perfect card you can get in 2021.... until the folks who debuted tonight start to really get involved.
And this was all without Hangman Page, Malakai Black, Andrade or PAC even wrestling. What a fudging roster.
AEW will be a good fit for adam cole
with the roster so big in AEW they probably dont to have everyone wrestle at each pay per view
i did kinda figure jericho would win to keep wrestling,
I didn't watch but read and have followed AEW for a bit. Seems like the trend is they highlight the new WWE talent for a bit, then slowly push them back into the mix. Moxley went from headliner to undercard after a few months. Hope AEW doesn't go through the WWE run of letting the same 5 guys go for a championship over and over.

They kindof are. As competitive as the tag team division is on AEW, The Young Bucks are constantly in the title picture. Who's going to dethrone Kenny Omega and how are they going to build a healthy circle of main event contenders who aren't Kenny? Cody has been off in the cooler so I can't say him but for the early going, yeah. Jericho was there too but he isn't after the title currently. It just seemed like there were 5 guys after the same belts.
I just hope that maybe with Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson, with some left in the tank, could serve as distractions for the bigger guys in AEW that keeps them off the titles for a while.
Just watched the clips of Bryan and Adam debut.. They have some sick entrance music...

I'm sure you didn't mean it derogatorily the way wrestling twitter does, but I'm gonna take this opportunity to address the whole "WWE guy" argument. Again, I know you weren't insinuating anything but I see this sort of talk all over the internet these days. They're not highlighting "WWE guys", they're highlighting wildly popular wrestlers who were already wildly popular before hitting WWE. Cole and Danielson especially were already over the day they set foot in WWE. Of course WWE helped them get their names in more households, but there tends to be this stigma that if someone worked for WWE then AEW is just "pulling a WCW" or something. Difference being they're not bringing them in JUST to appeal to folks who know their names. They're bringing them in to actually wrestle and put on a good wrestling show. Still, a lot of their main event focus are guys who have never worked for WWE - Omega, the Bucks, Allin, MJF, Lucha Bros, etc. I'd say they're doing fine balancing guys new to national TV vs the vets so far, but vets will always be important to get newer guys over.
I'd also only consider Moxley "undercard" in the sense that he's not constantly in the main event - but his role is far from what one would normally think of an "undercard" guy. He's still a focal point of the show and is currently the dude opening the "forbidden door" for all these NJPW legends to show up. To certain wrestling fans, he's probably the main draw in AEW right now. It's just that AEW has their hands in so many buckets that one doesn't necessarily need to be going after the title or headlining each show to remain a top guy and I think Mox is a great example of that. It's not like WWE where guys in the undercard are just forgotten about and become unimportant, in AEW (and most other wrestling companies) they do important things on other parts of the show and by default make THOSE parts of the show just as important to audiences.
And to THAT point, your worries about AEW letting the same 5 guys go for the title is sort of unwarranted - at least so far. It seems whenever a champ drops the belt, they use the accolade of having been champion to build up whoever they fight afterwards, which in turns makes for credible title contenders. There hasn't really been one instance of a former champ going after a title after they dropped it in any extended program - usually they drop it and the title picture moves on without them. It reminds me of how ROH used to book their title picture in the 2000s. shadyfozzie wrote:

I was bummed that Danielson didn't have the Final Countdown entrance music - his arrival for a match back in the ROH days was always so epic with that song playing. But Flight of the Valkyries is synonymous with him now and their hip hop remix is definitely fun stuff.
just saw the supposed line up for wwe raw tonight
titles defenses, and #1 contenders matches
if only wwe would take a page out of AEW and rotate wrestlers on each their shows maybe i wont be ranting as much as i have been

I mean, Dynamite has only been a thing for like 2 years hasn't it? That's a fine period of time to have an established set of top wrestlers going after their designated titles. I really don't see the criticism that they only keep the same 5 guys going after the belts at all. There have only been 3 world champions so far and each one defended against a TON of different guys throughout their reigns. Tbh, AEW has already done great at putting together a crop of talent for Kenny to face. Hangman, Darby, MJF, Miro... now Punk, Danielson and eventually Cole. Not to mention guys like Jungle Boy who are rising quick, and a slew of other dudes who just need a bit more TV exposure before they can be easily bought as top contenders. Plus, like I just mentioned to shady, they literally never have a former champion get extended rematches or anything like that - when they lose a title, the title moves on without them.
It's too early to say but I feel like the Bucks will take the same route most former champs in AEW do when they drop the belt and stay away for a while. Them being in the tag title picture just makes sense considering they were one of the more established teams on the roster and there needed to be a foundation for that division. No one would have cared if it was something like Best Friends vs. Hybrid 2 in the early going of the company, you know? That said, they spent a lot of time away from the titles before actually winning them.
I don't mean to come off as an AEW fanboy either. I was a defender of WWE during their roughest days but began souring on them even before AEW popped up. I'm still a "WWE fan" as I have been my entire life, and like what they're doing with some of the guys over there, but there's just better wrestling on TV weekly now. I just feel like we should be giving credit where credit's due and holding off on the standard wrestling complaints in order to allow AEW the benefit of the doubt considering they've only been around for 3ish years . They've definitely proven to be more competent than not in that time (exploding ring matches notwithstanding). If they start WWE-ing it up within the next few years then by all means, rake them over the coals, but they're really still in their "engine revving" mode getting ready to take off and I feel it's too early to tell how they "commonly" handle the roster spots.
I will say that after All Out last night, it definitely feels like they entered into a new "era" in a similar way that WWE had distinct moments that marked new eras over their history. So we'll see where they go from here, now that they have the roster they do.
Yeah, to be fair I'd still consider just about any pro wrestling "sports entertainment"... it's just that Vince seems to have forgotten that his product revolves around pro wrestling and not comedy, or skits, or movies. AEW can get just as "sports entertainment" in spots but they understand that the core of that entertainment is the wrestling itself and so that's what they focus on delivering.
I don't hope for the dude's death but I agree in that I don't see WWE coming out of this nose dive until Vince is out of the picture as the "final word" when it comes to booking. I posted a while back how you can track his career and note that most of his big victories were accidents that he just reacted to as opposed to any focused business plan being followed through on. With other companies proving to be just as, if not more, competent at running an entertaining pro wrestling show as him, I'm afraid his "tripping into success" days are over. Thankfully for him, WWE is already a public conglomerate being run by several businessmen so he and his family will never need to worry about money, but I think it's safe to say that the dude is entirely creatively bankrupt at this point.
Fourth episode of Heels opens with a board meeting between the higher ups of the "big time" promotion "up North". They're presenting one of the long time stars of the company with the new World title belt that they designed in hopes of selling more toys, going into detail about how the logo will go right in the center so that the cheap seats can see it.
Remind you guys of anything? hahaimage
> just saw the supposed line up for wwe raw tonight
Who knows if that script will get torn up again. Supposedly a text message was sent out to all creative team members for an "emergency meeting" before Raw.
edit: Ok now they say Vince isn't even backstage at Raw tonight. Buckle up for a Bruce Prichard Production™.
> edit: Ok now they say Vince isn't even backstage at Raw tonight. Buckle up for a

Oof, a Bruce Prichard production via a 3-hour Vince McMahon Skype call.
That'll put butts in seats.
All Out was so good. Like everyone, seeing the Lucha Bros get that W after all this time was really worth it. Kenny's title run still has a lot of steam in it, I'm excited to have Hangman eventually come back and establish himself amongst all these guys, and hopefully finally get the W over Kenny. No idea what will happen but that's my dream end to Kenny's run. Seeing the comparisons of Punk/Darby to the classic Bret/123 Kid match was so cool.
i thought the song he came out to was freaking awesome. i've listened to it on youtube a lot of times in the past 24-36 hours
> The ol' Observer says the costs for The Final Countdown were just too high but Tony
> did look into it.
Yeah I'm remembering reports form back in the day where ROH would've needed to pay $50k PER APPEARANCE if they wanted him to keep that music. TK may have a crapload of money, but that's fudging ridiculous. Europe needs to chill out haha
I remember being bummed that he didn't enter to The Final Countdown when he faced Davey Richards during ROH The Final Countdown Tour: Boston. At that point they were on HDNet and couldn't use licensed music unless they paid for it.
Another reason why I collect old ROH DVDs. You'll never be able to witness Bryan Danielson making his iconic, epic Final Countdown entrance unless you watch his matches on ROH DVD... even the Honor Club streaming service edits out any entrances with licensed music. The DVDs are legit the only way to see the shows as they were originally presented.

Would have preferred Final Countdown but yah, his new Flight of the Valkyrie remix is pretty badass.
It's being reported that Kevin Owens' contract is up "a lot sooner than expected", which sounds like it may be another Adam Cole situation or close to it. Back in July he tweeted and then immediately deleted the coordinates of Mount Rushmore, which shares a name with the faction he was a part of with Adam Cole and the Young Bucks in PWG. Obviously take it with a grain of salt but after this past weekend, I wouldn't be surprised by anything. Sami Zayn's contract is up in the Fall and if I were him, I'd be SHAKING to get out of WWE's midcard to bring back El Generico in a different promotion.
EDIT: Turns out it isn't a Cole situation and WWE has known his contract is ending soon. Which you know, I'd hope. Interesting that there are no reports of him being offered an extension with all this contract-ending news.
