Recovering from my first painful biking crash! Second time out, second crash, on a hot streak!

Caught the lip of a bridge going downhill, legit did a 360 summersault, Charlie Brown, slow - mo flip. Smashed into the bridge and then insult to injury, rolled off into the creek! Jacked up my leg pretty bad unfortunately.

Would do it all over again! New to mountain biking and it's a blast! Still, I don't think 330lb Yetis should be biking on real courses, stick to the paved paths fat boy! Haha

Sadly I walked most of the way after the fall and then bailed to the street. Hung my head in shame as the family of deer heckled me at the end.

Cool app to document my failures, this was my today's session: https://www.relive.cc/view/vZqNxZn7A3O

First ride in which I wiped going around a corner. I've never had so much fun falling.

Be careful dude. I didn't get into mountain biking but my husband did some. I love biking on some of the trials here though. I haven't been out in quite some time. I hope to get back to it some this fall before it turns icy again.

Welcome to the club. I have a hard tail 29er that hasn't seen the light of day since I had an accident doing downhill runs in Whistler in 2018. I went over the handle bars after taking a jump wrong and permanently jacked my right pinky. I legit cannot make a full fist any more. I also punctured my left knee and fractured my left elbow which now makes a grinding/clicking noise whenever I do a rowing motion.

I want to get back out on some of the local trails here, but all my riding buddies had big life changes like me and making the time to go out on a Saturday morning is a bit more challenging. I also need to get my bike serviced before I do anything.

@MrBean Please be sure to wear a helmet. I have a good friend who regularly rides his bike, and for some reason he refuses to wear a helmet and it drives me up the wall.

Oh absolutely. At first I said, I don't need one, but I've worn one every outing. This last fall could have been really bad without one on!

I'm hurting a lot more today, ugh.

I recently started riding 3 or 4 miles around the neighborhood every morning, and it's had a huge impact on my life. I was having terrible back pain regularly but a few miles on the bike has completely fixed that issue. I noticed immediate improvements within hours of my first real ride and it's only been getting better.

I've yet to take it "off road", but I'm excited to give that a try once i get a bike rack

i love biking but i don't go on trails much anymore, mostly ride with my kids around the neighborhood and very light areas. I do need to get new tires and tubes on my bike, which is my bike is SUPER old too while I think about it. We got them off craigslist like 10-12 years ago when we had very little money to spend on bikes.

I second the helmet. Someone I know was riding his bike and got into a bad accident. Put him into a coma. Had he not been wearing a helmet, who knows what might have happened. Some people are all "helmets are not cool; helmets are not a big deal; it looks funny, etc" until someone they know gets hurt. Helmets should definitely be worn. Can be lifesavers.

Man, having a blast at Ray's ... if you haven't heard of it before, I believe it's the largest in the nation? > 100k sq ft old warehouse(s) converted into a massive bike park.

Only been twice, but going to get a season pass. Confidence from first round to second, massive improvement. Can't wait to keep going.

It's 35 minutes away from me, absolutely awesome!

Dang, that looks awesome. I have zero experience with mountain biking but I would love to go to a place like that and try it out.

So I've been at this even more ... having a blast at Rays.

I've come to realize, that a big ass, full suspension, mountain bike ... definitely not ideal for a place like Rays, or outdoor pump track trails/jumps.

Been doing some homework, got talked into a DJ (dirt jumper). Been searching new/used. Finally found one that was too good of a deal to pass up ($3,500+ worth of a build, for less than half of that). Just arrive today! Re-assembled (it was used), and taking this out tonight to Rays.

So I now have a hybrid (for roads/paved trails), a mountain bike (trails, off trails), and a dirt jumper (courses, pump tracks). The eBike will come in about ten years!

Totally not gonna break something! haha

Do you plan on standing up the entire time you ride? Why is your seat so low?

Yeah you never sit down on this type of riding. Sitting on pump tracks or obstacle courses actually makes the ride incredibly more difficult. I learned this the hard way my first few times out that you have so much more stability, maneuverability, and balance while standing.
