Maybe this was already covered, but how is the loop closed? Does the last dibber offer something up to the poster of the initial steal?

Yours don't count. You price them at $15 but they're worth more... there have been other instances though where $15=$15

I think a week a month would be fine. Draw it out too long and quality degrades.

What I don't understand is inconsistency between the options. One option could be a decent deal and another is just downright crap or maybe borderline OK. Not talking about anyone specific, just see one every few whiles.

It doesn't the person who posts the last steal just has to keep the item(s) they're offering, and it goes right back up again once the thread re-opens.

Correct? @Jeff

Or do they just come up with a steal once the thread resumes?

The main thing I don't understand is that since they don't have to pend with the next person, what's keeping them from just taking the steal they got and running?

Well, since it's the first time we've ended it after a week, maybe we can require the final steal to be of lesser value ($10-15?) ? that way it won't be as big of a deal if they do not choose to pick up next time around?

Not entirely sure how to close the loop in a way that may be fair

One way we can do it is to have someone who gave more than they got back end the thread with their dibs. I'd say whitefire and Missle are good candidates. This has the added bonus of giving them something back.

@Jeff But then someone gets a great item and then only has to give up something cheap. Plus, when it resumes, the thread will suck.

Also, if someone gets their item before the thread closes, they can offer junk 3 weeks later because it can't revert (they already have it).

Or should we make it so that the second to the last person posts a steal, then the last person dibs and posts their steal, but the second to the last person only pends with the last person but doesn't send until the second to the last person's item is dibbed? That would help solve this, right?

Ex:

Lunar posts a steal, Dashey dibs. Now the thread is closed until the next month. Lunar pends with Dashey but doesn't send until the next month when someone dibs Dashey's steal. If it reverts, they can just cancel the trade.

Maybe we can also give a little extra time to Dashey since he's the first to post one the thread re-opens.

It's also ok if Dashey's steal changes because he hasn't been sent Lunar's steal yet. Lunar, however, has to hold on to the same stuff (but that will be easy since it's already been pended).

Lastly, if Lunar doesn't fullfill his end, Dashey can hit him with a BTR easily since they have a pended trade.

Not a bad idea, but determining who gave the most is going to be difficult to do... since I feel KOG gave the most. However, it does incentivize people to give more in order to get the final dib instead of being cheap.

But then someone has to take one for the team every month (post a steal when they haven't gotten one). That's asking a lot, I think.

I also agree with you, Jeff. Most? We talking quantitative, qualitative? Who decides this and how. Sounds like a whole can a worms to me.

Makes sense... just weighing options here.

I think the last person to dib like you said -- will lead off next month. Maybe we can set a beginning of the month value requirement of $50 or higher to get started off strong... so

Jeff posts steal
Lunar dibs
(we wait until next month)
Lunar posts steal $50+
whitefire dibs
whitefire posts steal
Dashey dibs
Jeff pends deal with Lunar

pretty much what you said, except we are just pausing it until the following month. An offer can be sent in order to remind them

whitefire

Not necessary because the thread will still work. If Dashey's steal sucks, it will revert back to Lunar's steal (who still has the item(s) since he hasn't sent to Dashey yet). I think that's simplest method, and as you've said, the less additional rules, the better, since people seem to prefer it that way.

GreenCard200

27-Apr-2017(#213)
That's a good point I didn't think of that. Someone would need to offer up something for nothing to start if we went that route. You could have them be the last dibs but I think adding a delay might be a better option.

The problem with this is that Jeff can still run away with the items because he got the previous steal (the one he dibbed) without having to pend with Lunar.

So you're saying pend the trade to keep Jeff honest and to follow through?

If it reverts back to the 3DS games, I might snag them. I was going to take a break, but they're awfully tempting.

The current steal is live until 12:04PM PST (3:04 PM EST). Correct?

Doesn't excuse the fact he could have taken 5 seconds to post and let us all know. Instead the thread was stuck in limbo for a day. If he had the time to log in and freeze his account he also had time to make a courtesy post.

It was a few hours I believe, not an entire day. Plus, that was before we went back to 1 dibber only. We have to figure out what works in order to perfect the system.

I feel the only thing we need to work on now is the value aspect of this and then we may be able to keep it moving forward without taking breaks. But, that's just from my eyes. Does anyone else see any other weaknesses?
