The game is fun, but it is very flawed. As a freebie, I definitely recommend trying it out. It still very much feels like an old Xbox game of the early 2000s.
Among the Sleep next week is cool. I still need to play this

Don't listen, Zane. I liked Untitled Goose Game, I just wish it had more content so it's not $20 (or more for physical) for a game that most people can beat in roughly a little over 2 hours.

It might not feel like a rip-off of I only end up paying $10 for it after using the credit. My daughter would also play it as well, so that makes it a little more enticing. I've paid over $10 for a 90 minute movie, so when you look at it like that....
That Epic store $10 off $15+ coupon expires tomorrow. I'm trying to decide btwn Journey for $5 or Death's Door for $10. Anyone have thoughts? Or another ~$12 or less game (after coupon) that's worth it.
Looks like the $10 coupon is back as well. So if you claim any free title or buy a game, you'll earn a $10 off $14.99 or higher purchase before Jan 6th.
I'm very happy with all the games so far. I was expecting them to give us the trash no one wants. Or, the kinda cheesy stuff that isn't terribl, but no loss if you never played it.
Recap so far... will update and post again later. 16th: Shenmue 3 17th: Neon Abyss 18th: Remnant From the Ashes (repeat) 19th: The Vanishing of Ethan Carter 20th: Loop Hero
Claim or buy any game and get a $10 off of $14.99+ purchase coupon that is good until Jan 6th.
Epic Store is acting up for me, not loading up the purchase screen for Second Extinction. I figure it's a temporary issue, but it locks up the whole application.
Recap so far... 16th: Shenmue 3 17th: Neon Abyss 18th: Remnant From the Ashes (repeat) 19th: The Vanishing of Ethan Carter 20th: Loop Hero 21st: Second Extinction (Early Access) 22nd: Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden (repeat)
Claim or buy any game and get a $10 off of $14.99+ purchase coupon that is good until Jan 6th.
The page where you order this wouldn't load any text, images or video, but I was able to see the outlines of the Get button. Ordered it. Have no idea what it is, but I got it. Free is free.
I used the last coupon to grab Journey for $5 as well. Was considering Death's Door then, so might get that this time. I also got Hades for like $8 several months back with an even older coupon, still need to play that game - I did beat Journey right away.
Updated Recap so far... 16th: Shenmue 3 17th: Neon Abyss 18th: Remnant From the Ashes (repeat) 19th: The Vanishing of Ethan Carter 20th: Loop Hero 21st: Second Extinction (Early Access) 22nd: Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden (repeat) 23rd: Vampyr 24th: Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Enhanced Plus Edition 25th: Prey 26th: Control (possible repeat)
Claim or buy any game and get a $10 off of $14.99+ purchase coupon that is good until Jan 6th.
Also to clarify, Control was free the week of June 10th according to when I obtained it on Epic (I also have only been redeeming their free games)
Updated Recap: 16th: Shenmue 3 17th: Neon Abyss 18th: Remnant From the Ashes (repeat) 19th: The Vanishing of Ethan Carter 20th: Loop Hero 21st: Second Extinction (Early Access) 22nd: Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden (repeat) 23rd: Vampyr 24th: Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Enhanced Plus Edition 25th: Prey 26th: Control (repeat) 27th: Mages of Mystralia
According to a SlickDeals link I came across, the next titles are: 28th: Moving Out [confirmed by leaker] - was a GwG offering on X1 before 29th: Salt and Sanctuary [confirmed by leaker] 30th: Rise of Tomb Raider, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider (2013) [rumor]
If accurate, I don't believe that the 2 confirmed would not be repeats. I have Rise already, so that would be a repeat, the '13 TR might be as well and I simply didn't bother claiming it since I beat it a good while back. Shadow would be nice but would tax my old PC.
Moving Out looks fun, I originally wanted to get it on Switch until I saw the co-op was local only. Does the Epic Games launcher allow you to have a friend connect remotely online to trick the game into thinking you're playing locally, like Steam and PlayStation 4 allow?

My gf and I played through the campaign back in January, when it was available on GamePass (not sure if it still is). It was fun playing together, but I could see online coop being frustrating.

Agree 100% - if you use the phone app you can see what's leaving on the 15th and end of each month and that's not a lot of lead time. I do use the app nearly daily to get some of the M$ rewards things and do check that 'Leaving Soon' part.
I know this one dude put all of the titles on this spreadsheet and that's helpful to a degree, but a longer, better notice of leaving titles would be greatly appreciated, welcomed.
Edit - heh according to that link, it left back in April, was only available for a year.
Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration includes the base game and Season Pass featuring all-new content. Explore Croft Manor in the new “Blood Ties” story, then defend it against a zombie invasion in “Lara’s Nightmare”.
Today's freebie is actuall all 3 of the modern Tomb Raider Trilogy, however their site is taking a serious crap.
I was able to redeem the first Tomb Raider, and it errors out on the other two. I've been trying for 15 minutes now. I can't even check to see if they redeemed, as it shows no transaction history. I can't even download the Epic Launcher, as it gives an error message.
Final Recap since current games are available for a week and 'deal' was for 15 days, so here are the 15: 16th: Shenmue 3 17th: Neon Abyss 18th: Remnant From the Ashes (repeat) 19th: The Vanishing of Ethan Carter 20th: Loop Hero 21st: Second Extinction (Early Access) 22nd: Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden (repeat) 23rd: Vampyr 24th: Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Enhanced Plus Edition 25th: Prey 26th: Control (repeat) 27th: Mages of Mystralia 28th: Moving Out (was a GwG offering on X1 before, free via Twitch/Amazon Prime also in past) 29th: Salt and Sanctuary
This week: Rise of Tomb Raider (repeat), Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider (2013)
Claim or buy any game and get a $10 off of $14.99+ purchase coupon that is good until Jan 6th.

All 3 didn't want to show up online, but once I finally got the launcher installed they all show up as available downloads. Wonder why the sudden swarm. Maybe because it's 3 bigger titles?
I had no issues getting Shadow and TR. Rise's store page wasn't loading up but I already had it. I beat TR and Rise already on my X1/SX respectively. Got TR free but purchased Rise and only bought Shadow not super long ago. Oh well I'll still play Shadow on my SX since it would crush my 9+ year old PC.
I know it's not free, but maybe still worth posting. There's a Humble Bundle with games that redeem on Epic Games instead of Steam this time. I'll probably skip it though since I own most of these already on either Steam or Switch. https://www.humblebundle.com/games/epic-games-stor...
I picked it up. I've been wanting to play What The Golf? for a while now, and Scarf was something I had never heard of. Unfortunately one of the games I already owned, and this bundle doesn't provide actual keys. Bummer, I was going to throw it in the freebie forum.
I played through What The Golf? on Switch, it really is fun. They actually put out a free update that added a bunch more content a month or two ago but I haven't checked that out yet.
I just claimed all 3, did the Dauntless one first. It said I didn't have the prerequisite to purchase but seemed to allow it anyhow. I used the Epic PC app and not website - not sure which you used Pizza
Demon's Tilt was on GP a while back. I played a good bit of it on there, so am looking forward to having it on PC, is a fun and enjoyably themed pinball game.
FYI...there is some free dwarf character in Total War that you can get separately, but free
And Pinball FX is on there...I always liked it because I thought it combined pinball and video game stuff really well. It's free and should have a free table or 2 with it.

Recall... nope, took a few mins to find, but if you visit https://www.epicgames.com/account/transactions you can see your transactions... had to hit the 'Show more' button a TON. City of brass was from 6/1/2019 I never found Total War: Warhammer in my list... and I went to Google and couldn't find it on a few different lists of games given out... odd. I know for sure I didn't pay for it, so maybe it was some other odd giveaway or something.
Both of next week's titles are repeats, but I do agree with Frank that Prey is a solid offering. I think I 'own' Jotun on every PC game store there is and thankfully never purchased it... nor played it.

Heh, I normally click on them to see if I do. I was pretty sure I had Jotun, but was a touch surprised at Prey. But I started it on Xbox early last year thanks to GP, just haven't played it in a while, nor got super far... I need to get back to it, but don't expect it to leave since the Bethesda purchase.

YAAAS! I've *almost* bought Game of Thrones the Board game like 50 times...I'm glad I caught this break!
If you aren't well acquainted with the board game world: GoT The Board Game is a true masterpiece for 6 players and captures the overall theme of conquest with alliances and betrayal very well. One of the cool things about it is that there are these 3 tracks and you will randomly 'bid' for using power points you can get in the game: The Iron Throne, The Valyrian Blade and the Raven if you are at the top of this track. The Iron Throne is cool because you decide ALL non-combat ties in the game for bids on other things.
It's a dudes on a map game, but you place markers face down on the territories you control and then flip those orders all at once (all players) so you can see who is going to attack, move, etc. You can also lend your combat power to any neighboring territory you want...so it creates a thematic feel. You cannot win the game alone with zero help...so you need to be crafty, but not too backstabby or people will not ally with you. Winner is the one who takes 7 castles on the board or it goes to 10 rounds. Amazing game!
I'm glad they threw in Doom 64 (even though it's permanently on Game Pass or on sale for like $2), because I don't know how well packs for free-to-play games go down. I never have an interest in them.
Shadow is a redo, but was only, I believe, a 1 day give-away from their 12-days of freebies - still an excellent offering and great if you missed that before.
Next week (Sep 22-29): ARK: Survival Evolved Pretty sure this will be a repeat. If you don't have it yet, make sure to also grab the several free DLCs... Gloomhaven
This week's freebies: ARK: Survival Evolved Pretty sure this is a repeat. If you don't have it yet, make sure to also grab the several free DLCs... Gloomhaven
Next week (Sep 29 - Oct 6): The Drone Racing League Simulator
Thanks Frank, i would have totally missed these. I would have been pissed off in 2040 when I start playing the game and missed free DLC (my backlog is out of control with all these free games).
Nice. Runbow is something I had wanted to play for a while. I skipped it on Wii U because I knew there was no chance I'd be able to get a full 9 player game going locally and I doubt the online multiplayer was ever really active (most non-1st party games on Wii U weren't). I did try it very briefly when it was ported to New Nintendo 3DS but couldn't get into an online match there either. Hopefully it is more active on PC but I suspect this is something you'll have to gather friends to play because there won't be many randoms playing. Games like this are why I wish crosss-platform multiplayer would become standard.

I did grab Runbow on the Wii U right when it came out. There were plenty of games online, at first, but that dropped off rather quickly. I only really got to enjoy it when my daughter had a couple of friends over and we played it together.
Free Now - Oct 20 at 11:00 AM Darkwood ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove!
Next Week: Free Oct 20 - Oct 27 Evoland Legendary Edition Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition
I almost played Darkwood when my Pro sub was active this spring, but ran out of time, so I think I'll give this a go. Nice selection next week even though I own both elsewhere
Good stuff this week and Fallout 3 GOTY next week! While I own Fallout on several systems already I will happily add it to the PC collection. What an awesome game! I don't know how Epic does it - they have given out so many great games over the last few years.

I read an article that talked about the cost of these offerings and it's pretty high...but they are playing the long and expensive game to try to compete and eventually (hopefully) conquer Steam. I really appreciate Epic, but man: it's hard for me to BUY things from them and NOT Steam. I don't know why. I really think it's just habit.
> I really appreciate Epic, but man: it's hard for me to BUY things from them and NOT Steam. I don't |> know why. I really think it's just habit.
Same with me. I appreciate the free games from Epic, but when I'm looking to buy a game my money is going to Steam. I guess I prefer my paid purchases to be all in one place/account.
edit: Also, a lot of PC games I buy these days are via Humble Bundles and they give Steam keys, not Epic. So that plays a part in it too.
I read some article a while back that detailed or compared what they paid each publisher/dev to have a game available for free on the service to how many brand new users joined the store and claimed it that week. It was interesting to see basically what it was costing them for new customers, a metric used for lots companies, customer acquisition cost. Seeing how they don't advertise (nor do really any PC gaming store) it's a decent way to look at things. The data in the article covered like the first 2 year's worth of games and so I think it was possibly off some, since lots of folks just love free crap (myself included) so they got on board early to get any/all of the games free.
I would guess that M$ (since they now own Bethesda) likely didn't charge too much for FO3 GotY since it's now a 14 year old title that wasn't going to sell a whole lot (any?) copies this year anyhow.
As for buying games on there, I don't buy PC games too much period, but I have used their $5 (or $10) off $15 coupons a few times and picked up Hades, Death's Door, Journey and a few others.
I will add that their store/app could used some work. Now that I'm up over 300 games on there, trying to view them in my library crushes the app as it seeks to display the box/icon for them all if you so choose and it struggles on my older PC. They did recently add categories and pagination a number of months ago, but Steam is WAY ahead here with how the store/app works.
Got a link for a free Fanatical game called Internet Cafe Simulator. Don't have it, don't play video games, sharing here and pretty sure it's one time use. came in a newsletter, enjoy if you use it!

I've got two spare codes if anyone wants them. Just message me and a code is yours! One is from an older Humble Bundle, one is from this... and I somehow already have it in my library.
> STAR WARS: Squadrons <-- Glad I'll be finally able to pick this

Star Wars Squadrons was free on Amazon Prime last year I believe. They were giving out Origin codes. I'll dig around and see if I have a spare code. That way you don't need to wait till next week
Saints Row IV, while an older game, is actually launching on Epic the 8th. I do think it's cool that they're offering newly listed games, even if they aren't ones people are necessarily clamoring for right now.
Last year Saints Row III Remastered was given away in a similar way, if I'm not mistaken!

I think DLC was free before too, I have it, don't think I paid for it. I did beat this game a few years ago and enjoyed it a bunch. I bought the Senna DLC this year but haven't made time to play that yet. It's a fun 90's era racer that's the spiritual successor to Top Gear. It's 100% worth checking out if you liked 90's era racers like Top Gear or OutRun, etc.

I agree, that would be a solid one.
I haven't really played a LEGO game since Lego Indiana Jones in the 360 days. The little bit I tried of Skywalker Saga, on GP, it seems to mechanically be the best LEGO game to date.
Probably either 3 or New Vegas, since I don't think 4 ever came to Epic. Although who knows tomorrow could be the Epic launch, and it's free the first day.
its in the wrapping paper of next item. Tomorrows is showing radiation symbol, so fallout is a good guess, but any post apocalyptic game could be it like stalker.
I'm happy with Lego Builder's Journey - game looked neat when it launched and I think it's something I'll at least give a shot. Versus a lot of other free games on Epic and Twitch/Amazon Games that have been meh or already something I've owned/played.
So today's game is indeed Death Stranding, but I'm unable to claim it. It says it's unavailable.
edit: From what I've been reading, they originally had the Director's Cut version of the game for free but have since changed it to the standard version. And it's showing as unavailable for a lot of people.
edit 2: I was able to claim it by logging in to the Epic Games website, not through the desktop app thingy.
edit 3: The game doesn't actually show in my library, but if I try to claim it again it says I already have it.
I saw a headline that said that today's Epic game was so good that it was crashing the store, so that's likely the issues you were having @PizzaTheHutt I chuckled at the 'so good' line since I still fully expect the game to suck and am VERY unlikely to ever play it. I did get it just ~10 mins ago and had no issues, it also auto-included 3 add-ons and I see it in my library as the game and then the 3 Add-Ons in another single listing.
Very excited for the rumored game for tomorrow: F.I.S.T. Forged In Shadow Torch - at least that was what I saw on SlickDeals. I'll install that one asap if it's correct.
There is a decent game listed for free on GoG as well with ~12 hours left there, some title called Greak: Memories of Azur
> edit 3: The game doesn't actually show in my library, but if I try to claim it again
> it says I already have it.
Make sure you don't have filters enabled in library that are hiding it. That was the case for me.
I managed to "buy" it when it still showed the Director's Cut. Now, I have the base game and the add on content, but the store listing still shows I can buy the game. When I tried, just to make sure I really had it, it gives an error that I already own the game, like you describe. I suspect you have it, but the library view needs refreshing or filters turned off.

If I had to guess, it's something unexpected. Perhaps a newer release, like Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. The PC port of God of War would be awesome, but it's highly unlikely.
I'm guessing/hoping it's Kingdom Hearts. They've been Epic exclusive on PC, at WAY too high a price point. for a while now. If they give the first bundle away, it might spike sales on the rest. And the fact that they haven't been on freebie before might be why the leaker doesn't want to say.
Hmm good to know. Hopefully it's Dishonored Death of an Outsider. Dishonored has been free in the past, and a GOG copy of Dishonored 2 is currently free on Prime Gaming.
Looks like it was actually included in an Epic Games Humble Bundle back in February. So this is the first time it was free directly through Epic though
Has anyone made sure to redeem every free game since the beginning? If so, I'd like to start a Google doc for fun!
I think I've only missed like 1-3 over the years, but have played very few of my large list of them. Thanks for the list Frank, I think I've seen that page before, wish it was in a better format like a Google Doc or just a huge table for them all.
First Class Trouble sounded familiar, then I realized it's because I have it from PS+ (same with Divine Knockout). I haven't played it but I think it is somewhat similar to Among Us.
I haven't played Epistory (next week's game) yet either, but I just got it last week in a Humble Bundle. It sounds like something I might like.
I was updating my Epic Games Freebie sheet and decided to check to see how many repeating games there was each year.
2020 had 6 repeats from 2019 2021 had 5 repeats from 2019 and 5 from 2020 2022 had 4 repeats from 2019, 5 repeats from 2020, 4 repeats from 2021, and Wolfenstein The New Order strangely repeated itself in the same year.
Based on the 4 repeat increase each year, I estimate this year we will see 18 repeating games from previous years.
Edit: Realized we had 1 more repeat this year... Prey (2017)

Oh u wasn't complaining about them. In-fact, I've been able to redeem a couple repeats from before I started with EPIC. I just thought they were some fun facts!
I just want to thank @langev for always updating this thread. My account would be missing all those games that I claim and never play if it wasn't for them.
