That CPU comes with no heatsink and runs extremely hot. If you have the money for it, bite the bullet and grab a Ryzen processor and cheap board with DDR4 if you can. You'll be on a platform that'll last a couple more years, and even if you get one of their low-end CPUs now you can slap in a $250 8-core anytime you want later.

If you're not planning on attempting any overclocking or anything then something like this isn't too bad a price and would work well with an 8370: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N...

You shouldn't need to change anything as long as you have enough space. I'm guessing you have an AM3+ since you said you were getting an 8370. If that's the case the cooler I sent you (and many others) will mount to it. That's a closed loop system so all you need to do is mount the radiator to your case and the block to your CPU. So the main thing you really need to do is make sure your case can fit it.

they just had the Ryzen 1200 on Sale at Newegg for 99.00 50.00 for a m/b and 80 for 8gb of ddr4 would be like 230.00 but that 8 core is a good option if you are on a tight budget i personally would wait till you could upgrade your whole system as upgrading an am3 sys is kinda a waste

Windows 10 is still free. You just use the assistive technologies link. They don't check if you actually use them and what they are is very loosely defined. Technically the magnifying glass built into Windows is an assistive technology.

yeah, but i dont like that it updates without permission and randomly restarts your pc. i do a lot of digital art, and that is not something i need happening in the middle of my work

Windows 10 gotten a lot better about that. There's designated hours you can set (and I think you can straight-up disable it now as well). For how bad of an OS it is, they've actually been listening to user feedback quite a lot. I've never once had it restart on me in the middle of something.

No, it's an upgrade not a replacement. As long as the apps are Windows 10 compatible I'd expect it would be fine. Still make a backup of your art files.

You can also back up everything to google drive if you're nervous. Wouldn't be a bad idea to have a backup plan regardless of upgrading OS or not, especially if you've got filed you can't afford to lose.
