Is there a way you can add a bot to chat? It can be extremely simple. Maybe it tells you what time it is and links you to the FAQ page/site rules. That way there's always somebody in chat and indirectly invites more people to come in. I know that IRC has this feature, but the majority of users are using simple chat via web I bet. Average joe is likely not savvy enough to have an IRC client installed.
Or perhaps it's more complex because one of the mod's feels so inclined.
IRC was something else back in the day. Nowadays I have moved past it. Its more of a mobile world now as well. Maybe some type of integration with WhatsApp or Kik or Line. (https://api.ai/docs/integrations/).
It should be in there now. When it sees there is someone else in chat, it will begin to ask trivia questions. It asks a question (stating category, difficulty, and possible answers). Then it waits 15 seconds and prints the answer. Then it waits 60 seconds and repeats.
[1:09:28] Dashey whispers to TriviaBot: My anaconda don't [1:09:28] TriviaBot whispers to you: Why do you say your anaconda don't? [1:09:38] Dashey whispers to TriviaBot: My anaconda don't [1:09:38] TriviaBot whispers to you: Does that suggest anything else which belongs to you? [1:09:49] Dashey whispers to TriviaBot: My anaconda don't stop unless you got buns hun [1:09:50] TriviaBot whispers to you: Is it important to you that your anaconda don't stop unless me got buns hun?
I was going to suggest something like that. I was thinking something more like anyone can whisper to the TriviaBot, either "stop" or "start" and it would obey.
I was also thinking a stop could last for some period of time, like 1 hour, then it would start automatically again. But, maybe it would be best to just have it stay stopped until it was asked to start again.
I could also just shut it down since it's kind of a novelty and maybe the fun is over now.
