Collection of GTZ friend codes (using the format of GTZ Username |Mii Name| Friend Code). Keep in mind I have no idea how many of the people on this list still have their 3DS, so it might be best to PM the person you want to add. (spoiler tagged the list for mobile users)
If you want to be added just post your friend code. This list can make it easier to play with other GTZers. If you add someone's code, make a post or PM them so they know to add you back. Maybe tell them what online games you have as well. If you sell or trade your 3DS please post so I can remove you from the list and save people the time of adding your code and having blank users taking up room in their friend list. Thank you and good day.
Frankly the 3DS doesn't need to exist. I can count the number of times where I was like "FUDGE, I SHOULD TURN ON MY 3D!" on one hand, and lots of the really good 3DS games don't even fudging use it for the majority of gameplay. But the 3DS was the original model, so it is what it is. The 2DS XL is everything I wanted in a 3DS XL and nothing I didn't. Other than that fudging camera.
That would have sped up my switch purchase too as I'm waiting on more games and particularly the rpgs that are coming down the road. I see both sides of the other question..if I didnt already have a 3ds xl.. I would def get the 2DS xl i don't care about the 3d effect.
> Yeah because I don't like it it shouldn't exist.
Just the 3D aspect specifically. It was kind of a cute gimmick at first but even with the N3DS XL revisions it's still not so seamless that I'd just keep it on because why the fudge not (battery longevity issues aside), and like I said, lots of the top tier games (Pokemon) don't even use it proper if at all.
As a system the 3DS has been wonderful, lots and lots of great portable games, but I think the 3D has been holding the price point for the system absurdly high for far too long.
Also it was smarter for them to hold the 3DS line until they saw how Switch was doing, because if it flopped that would have been devastating and they would have committed all that money and manpower into a failure. Hindsight's always 20/20. We'll get the good stuff in due time, I have no doubts about Nintendo's ability to deliver. Just wish more third parties would feel like doing more than HD reissues across all the main platforms.
There are some decent sales at Best Buy right now. B1G1 50% Off on select games and some clearance as well. I saw Monster Hunter Generations for $15.99 w/GCU and also check other titles not listed for the B1G1 because it works on DQVIII, as an example, even though DQVIII is not listed.
Question: Is it worthwhile to play the Monster Hunter games in order (from 3-Generations), or does it really not matter?
I held a grudge against Monster Hunter for the longest time because it was the series Capcom blew off Ace Attorney fans to promote... And then they decided to not bring most of the Monster Hunter games over here either.
On a lighter, more positive note... Is anyone picking up Miitopia?
> On a lighter, more positive note...Is anyone picking up Miitopia?
I'm considering it. I bought Miitopia for my friend for Christmas (she's in Japan and they've had the game since last year) and she's a pretty casual gamer (prior to buying a 3DS in 2013 for ACNL she hadn't bought a video game for herself since the PlayStation 1 era) but she seemed to lose interest after 2-3 weeks and never finished it, so I hope that doesn't happen to me too. I remember in 2014 she warned me against buying Tomodachi Life because she said how fast it gets boring, and she was definitely right about that.
I've never been a fan of how Nintendo has handled amiibo functionality, but now it's really starting to bother me. Sure, if you want the figures that's fine, and I really like the new Samus amiibo, but considering how when something like this happens the amiibo become scarce, it just sucks. If you could buy the DLC otherwise, then maybe, but remember when art galleries and sound tests (and alternative costumes) were regular unlocks through game progress? Hell, the sound test used to be accessible right away from the main menu in games that had it. And now we're paying extra for higher difficulties? At least most games that had higher difficulties added later made it free through an update.

> This just reeks of a cash grab by Nintendo.
I'm quick to defend Nintendo, but I have to agree. It hasn't affected me too much. Most of the extra functionality that I've cared about came with Amiibos that I wanted to get anyway, but who knows how long that will continue. The things they limited to Amiibos were much more slight earlier on, but it seems they're really starting to expand it. I'm not a fan of this approach at all. It's bad enough as is, but when you also consider how hard it can be to get some of these Amiibos, then it becomes ridiculous.
I didn't know about this until a few minutes ago, but there is a new Layton game coming Oct. 6, called Layton's Mystery Journey. Just thought I'd post in here, in case any fellow Layton fans missed the announcement like I did.

Looks like it's getting a physical release, judging by the listing I saw on Amazon. (Still no box art, though.) All of the Layton games to date have gotten a physical release, in fact...I'm definitely looking forward to Metroid as well, and Etrian Odyssey V next month.

It first released on iOS. Now, it's getting a physical/digital release in North America. I think Europe has the release around the same time, and that already has a box art. I think the NA box art will look different, though, since it's been a tradition for the Layton covers overseas to be altered.
I'm pretty excited. While I'd much rather have a new 2D adventure on Switch, Metroid II was in dire need of a remake. My biggest hesitation is the source material; my guess is it will hold this one back a little. Either way it will be fun to play a "2d" Metroid again.
If they've fixed navigation properly, I'd give Samus Returns a shot. I hated Metroid 2 as a kid. I was forever stuck running back and forth, and losing my bearings as to where I was. I never got anywhere in the original.
It (Metroid II on GB) wasn't very fun IMO. I'm assuming they fixed alot of the issues, main one being no map. Pretty much no chance it's better than Super Metroid (to me), but if it cracks my top 5 Metroid games it will be great!
From the reviews I have read, it seems like it is more of a re-do than a remake. The only way that it is similar to Metroid 2 is the story. There is a map. The world is entirely different. The combat has been updated. There are new weapons. There are tons of hidden secrets/items/false walls and floors/etc. It's basically an entirely new game.
Trying to get into Atlus 3ds games but don't know which series or standalone game to start at. Any recommendations? I've never played an Atlus game. Also, not big on turn based games unless it's similar to Pokemon or Monster Hunter Stories.

Depends on your taste, more traditional, dungeon crawler etc. . The one I am most looking forward to is Alliance Alive early 2018 bc it is the most like RPGs from the 16 and 32 bit era from what I hear.
unless anything else gets announced, all i have left for new releases are
etrian 5 radiant historia smt strange journey alliance alive
i still need ever oasis (maybe, not sure id play it) stella glow phoenix wright dual destinies scribblenauts DC (daughter wants) etrian mystery dungeon (maybe, ive heard its not great?) dragon quest 8 (debating, need to see what all they actually added, dq8 ps2 version on my pc looks AMAZING)
I would start with Alliance Alive since I heard it is the most feeling like a super Nintendo RPG. If you are just looking for general recommendations Dragon Quest VII and VIII are must plays. And Stella Glow is the best sRPG on the system, and one of the best sRPGs I played in a while. Again mainly because it scratched an "olden days" itch for me. But it's a top quality game. Even though it's not a true RPG Zelda Link Between Worlds is a fun short little game with a great use of 3D (if you are into that like me)
I'm super late to the party here, but I think the 3D on the "NEW" 3DS is outstanding, and I leave it on low (at least) all the time. Sometimes I crank it all the way up if the game does it well (Link Between Worlds for example...)
QTEs? Samus Returns doesn't have QTEs. Unless you mean when she physically holds on to an enemy and you furiously shoot your blaster after countering their attack. But that's only at the rate you do it, and you can beat any enemy without it and with precision aiming too.
It's better to avoid enemies than to try to kill them without the melee counter. More fun, too. Regular shooting in this game is a huge bummer, compared to every other Metroid game in the series (other than the original GB title). I think Samus is too big (like she was in Metroid 2!)
I see Melee Counter as QTE without a big button prompt, especially with its repetition.
