The game looks way better than the movie. Also the music was awesome in the trailer.

Smash Bros announcement coming soon (but well after Mario's release)? GC VC as well? Wii U GC adapter now quasi-functional on Switch. Would be a great announcement for the first week in Dec or mid-Nov.

I wish I had picked up that adapter back when they were still available at retail. The price was already high before this announcement, and now it's skyrocketed even more.

I picked one up randomly when they were up on Amazon like 3 years ago because I knew if I didn't get one right then there would be a good chance I would never get ahold of one again. I've still never opened it up but now I may have a reason to.

I would definitely do stuff like that all the time if I had the extra money, I just typically don't.

I'm sure if they have anything serious to announce they'll be re-releasing the adapter. More interested to see if the third party adapters work fine.

Yeah, I almost said "maybe they'll produce more of them" earlier, but who knows...

The MayFlash one has pretty solid reviews, the others look iffy though.

That's the one I've got. I did notice some weird calibration-related issues (and trigger depth triggering) using it with PC, but those could just as easily be about the controller and emulator settings than the adapter honestly.

I saw a review for one a day or two ago it may have been the mayflash? it had dual shock 4's, wii u pro controllers, xbox, and more working on a switch, but only as a player two? this could be a cheaper alternative to pro controllers.

They need to quit being doges and unlock the Wii U Pro controller. They are licensing 3rd party controllers without HD rumble and NFC. A third party needs to make something wireless around $30-35 without the bells and whistles. I'd own a pro and extra joycons if they weren't so damn expensive. As it is I'm waiting for better 3rd party options. Keeping an eye on that SNES looking one, but even that's up there.

I bought Snake Pass when it was on sale for $12. I regret it. It's not that it's a bad game. It's just not that fun.

There are a few other notable games that have minor discounts this week:

Axiom Verge - $17.99 (amazing game, sh*tty discount)
Shovel Knight - $19.99 or $7.99 for just the expansion
Tumblestone - $11.99 (another dropping puzzle pieces game a la Tetris, I have no interest but it has gotten great reviews)
Graceful Explosion Machine - $10.29 (not a great discount, but it's a pretty fun game...side scrolling schump...I go back to it a lot)

I feel that same exact way about Metroid: Samus Returns and Sonic Mania. I've been playing them recently but have no desire to continue either of them. They are both good games, but I just don't care enough to want to keep playing. I put around 2 hours into each of them and I'm ready to move on.

Yeah I've got all digital, but once I beat Mario I may sell or lend.

But MK8D, splatoon 2, arms, all digital because they're good MP games I'll always want.

Mario and XC2 I'll go physical, beat and sell like I did Zelda

I agree on Switch. I see MK8Dx staring me in the face after a session of something else and think I can play a quick battle or race, then I realize I'd have to get up to swap out carts so I don't.

I'm physical all the way, but for some titles I'm starting to wonder if digital would be better.

For MK8D and spaltooon2 digital is a godsend because I can do fast battles without switching carts. And these games have lasting power, would never have sold the cart.

Worms MD is top of my want list I really wish we'd get word on any relassy

I'm sticking to physical unless it's digital-exclusive or a special case. Something like Sonic Mania is an easy buy, NBA 2K18 was digital because it was released earlier online. Otherwise any big title will be physical. Saves space on my card for games that can only be accessed digitally and I like being able to display the boxes while the console is modern. My Switch case also came with 2 little game holders that hold 4 games each. Having the whole case or just one/both of the little game holders nearby makes switching out cartridges not a big deal. Not that it is in the first place, ya big sissies.

I'm physical only. The only digital I do is gog.com simply because I have bought a bunch of my "talkie" point n click adventures on sale for like $2.99 each. PC is a bit different in that if I really wanted to go full legit experience. I would have to have a few different PCs. One with XP, one with win 95, maybe even an older PC with floppy discs. PC's are huge and take up too much room for that.

Justin
GameTZ Subscriber 550 Trade Quintuple Gold Good Trader

Yeah, I'm like 90% physical for 3 reasons.

1 - Cheaper. I don't believe there's any deals for digital versions, but there's 20% off all physical games with Prime or GCU. That's a big difference.
2 - Trade/resell. I like having the option to trade or sell the game when I'm done with it.
3 - Collection. I'm one of those people that likes having a nice collection of movies and games to display on my shelf.

The only advantage for digital I really see is that you don't have to worry about swapping carts, or forgetting them. I'm rarely playing more than one game at the same time, and I almost always play at home, so neither of those really matter to me.

Really? I don't see people selling eShop credit on here much at all. If you search "eshop" in Digital Marketplace, it's mostly threads of people who want to buy it. When some does pop up for sale, it usually goes very quickly. Are you getting it from other sources?

If you're able to get it at 85% consistently, then that does make new games about the same price. But, physical will slowly drop in price, while Nintendo barely ever drops the price on their AAA digital games.

I buy large quantities at a time, at either 85% or 80% - like $150 at a time sometimes.

Also, people do large GS trade ins and sell off credit at 85% and you can buy that and use it on 1:1 eshop.

Alright...

I love Skyrim.. I got it on 360 and PS3 when it came out..Later got it on Steam for the mods.. then I got it when it was release on the PS4..

Now I only went through it one time and that was on the 360 days... and just mess around with mods and stuff on ps4/steam

You guys think it would be worth getting it for the Switch... would carrying it places be enough to relive the fun and experience of having it on the handheld?

I might get it again just so I can dress up like BotW Link. Don't be intimidated by the game's size, btw. The ES games are similar to BotW in that you can play at your own pace. They aren't story-driven games, meaning you can save and quit at pretty much any time.

I can confirm this. I'm a GCU member and upon adding the digital version to my cart I do not receive the 20% discount on any game, including Mario.

That's pretty stupid. It costs BB pretty much nothing to sell a digital copy compared to physical. I must be old because I don't understand why companies charge more for digital. imo they should be ~10-20% less standard.

It feels like digital should only be like 50% of the cost of a new game because you're just really kind of borrowing it from the company. That's how it feels to be at least, like theres no real ownership.

It's not about how much it costs them, it's about how much they can charge. Also, we don't know what kind of discounts of incentives they get from Nintendo and developers for physical/digital. Maybe they get a smaller margin on digital?

For the consumer, digital is easier to use. On the switch, if I am sitting on my couch and I want to play a game of MK8D, or one 2 minute battle of ranked splatoon, or battle a friend online in ARMs, I don't want to get up and change the cart every time. Digital is worth it for me for those types of games. I have friends over and we'll play 4 man ARMs or MK8D or PPTetris and it would be a pain to switch carts all the time.

For my PS4 I get physical because I only play it in one place in the house and usually for 2-3 hours and usually ONE game at a time, and I don't play any local MP games except the Jackbox party packs, which I own digital.

Those prices are not set by Best Buy, they're fixed by Nintendo.

ive seen a couple things that talk about why digital isn't cheaper than physical and they all agree that its not to alienate retailers. one of them even said that though digital is outpacing retail sales, as much as 3 to 1, digital items having a cheaper base MSRP would alienate retailers. and they cant do this because most console sales are still done in stores, like a huge percentage. stores don't make anything on a console sale. they make money on games and accessories. if there aren't consoles selling, they don't sell digital games. retailers aren't going to want to sell only consoles, as they don't make anything. so undercutting them is bad for getting the user base established. this is speculated to change in the coming years as you have a generation coming of age that not only likes digital but is comfortable ordering online, even for expensive items like consoles.

but ya, its to keep retailers happy because they aren't undercutting, but I agree they should be 10-20% less easy.

There's probably zero incentive to sell digital cheaply, since they don't pay for card inventory and all it would do is cut their share, and I'm sure Nintendo and the others say you can't cut it more than X unless we say so.

Keep that in mind. They don't pay for those cards until they're sold, just like every gift card you see in Walmart, they effectively do not actually exist until they're scanned and paid for. The boxes of games, those are all sold before they hit the shelves, which is why retailers push out firesales for unsold stock after so long, or in Gamestop's case, they just convert unsold new product to used product.

Knight Terrors is only $2.99 in the eshop (runner-style game). I don't usually play games like that, but I'll give that one a try at the price.

Unless you live where I do, in rural country that doesn't have Saturday deliveries, I'll have mine on Monday.
