I'm waiting to hear about news of a patch before deciding on whether or not to get it. WWE games have been disappointing me since 2003 save for the exception here and there, so I'm in no rush haha

WWE Day of Reckoning 2 was the last truly good one, imo. I still liked those days in the PS2/Xbox/GCN era where each console had its own series of WWE games, but I can see why they stopped doing that because poor Xbox always got the worst ones.

64GB Switch carts won't be ready until 2019
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2017/12...

I bet any games that use 64GB carts start going up in price to $70+, because sometimes games already cost $10 more on Switch and barely anyone is even using the 32GB carts yet.

Nintendo is saying they expect to sell 20 million Switch consoles next year alone. Sounds like they're pretty confident in their 2018 lineup.

aka Pokemon "proper"

Pokémon, Bayonetta, probably Smash Bros, Yoshi, a bunch of RPGs (huge in the Japanese market). Also, the Switch just passed up the PS2 in Japan as the best selling console within its first 12 months. PS2 sold something like 3.1 million and the Switch just hit 3.2 last week, and they still have a month and a half left to go. I think they're only trialing the PS4 by around 1.5 million in total life time sales right now and should pass it up by summer at this rate.

Wii U's lifetime is something like 13.5 million. Switch should pass it up by the end of its 1st year.

Price?........maybe. Its more expensive than either PS4 slim or X1S right now. I think what really makes that thing fly off the shelves is the portability factor and the amazing games it got in its 1st year.

Yep, I mean you can't say what every single reason is. But the fact that Nintendo knew that had to knock it out of the park with system design and 1st year software, and then actually did it. Is the main reason. It's cool looking, it might have some appeal to the generation that is SO used to smartphones and tablets. It's portable, and Mario, Zelda, and Xenoblade (and heck to some extent thanks Ubi for Rabbids) are the 2 main reasons.

I beat Mario and Zelda and am now playing Xeno and loving it. I can't wait for more in '18!!

Yeah, its difficult to say what the exact reason for its popularity is, but it definitely filled a need in the market that most developers and publishers, besides for Nintendo, had forgotten existed.

I didn't see anything like that online. Can you re-download it without losing your save?

Also, can you just drag and drop Switch memory card content to a PC to back it up? I've seen a couple people say their memory card started going out on them and experienced similar issues.

Maybe a crazy idea but being games standard editions are typically $59.99 across the board. Wonder if they would use the bigger carts 32 or 64 etc for preorders then whatever cart they want smaller etc for normal release. So people who preorder pay full price but dont get the monster patch and those that dont are want to wait for a price drop get what they get and a patch etc. Yall see where I am going with this?

I tried restarting rh checkpoint and redone loading the game. Nothing. I'd have to do the entire episode over again. Capcom told me. IF I do that, I'm going to need a LONG break. That kind of sucks. It has gotten meh reviews, but I've put the more time into NBA Playgrounds than any other switch games this year. I've logged over 60 hours in a $20 game, not too bad. Have 2 other games over 50 hours, probably the most video game playing I've done in awhile.

Yea I got just over 50 on BOTW. I'll go back and do some stuff but was burnt out by the end. Still have alot to do in Mario as well, have about 45 in that.

So I'm having an odd issue and have looked around online but haven't found anything. I've been playing Doom multiplayer fine until yesterday when I turned on the console and can't seem to start multiplayer. By that I mean at the top where it says campaign and multiplayer i can't move the icon over multiplayer, like its unselectable. Anyone have any ideas?

Edit: Finally figured it out. Clicking the welcome to doom banner it told me You have exceeded your matchmaking communications quota. Please try again in 589 hours
Websites said to fully restart console which resolved the issue. Odd

I have put 195 hours into Zelda and haven't done the Master sword Trials or Master Mode. Ihave finished everything else but am still discovering stuff. I love that game!

Story time!!
So today I traded in BotW....... I got $40 for it and traded a bunch of other games with it. My intentions were to buy Zelda again digitally. I was tired of swaping games all the time. Like I would play mario and go back to zelda. Or I would play Skyrim and go back to zelda... It was just easier to keep one game in the card slot and always have zelda in there. Come to think of it I may do the same for MK8. Just so I always have it.

On TV systems I'd agree, but on handheld it really is a pain. You have the system in hand, it's annoying.

also, to switch games docked you have to undock, mess with that stupid card release, switch carts, redock, it sounds lazy but ARMS, splatoon 2, and MK8D have like 90 second to 3 minute matches and I literally switch back and forth, and I'm so glad I have it digital along with NBA Playgrounds, Worms, etc..

Wait, are you being serious or sarcastic? I play mostly docked, so I was referring to switching games while docked. I don't need to undock in order to switch games. It's really not hard, but I feel the same way. I don't want to get up to change games if I can avoid it.

Just to update this, I did end up repeating episode 4. However, I was at least able to skip the Claire part, which was nice. I got through it farily quickly since I had already done it. The fingerprint scanner did work this time. I still don't know what I did the first time, but the one thing I did differently this time was that I cleared the gas before getting the lift key. So if this happens to anyone else, trying that would be my recommendation.

I'd be a bit weary of that, as the Switch pro controller has features in it that the DS4/XB1 controllers do not and may be a hindrance when it comes to certain games. For instance, Zelda is great to play on the pro controller and barely requires any motion controls. However, there are some parts where it would be a pain not to be able to rotate your controller and have it do something. I can't imagine that the Magic-NS would allow a DS4, for example, to be used in this way.

Yes. I turned it off immediately after launching the game for the first time myself. Its in the options.

Damnit, should have tried that before I sold the game. I couldn't play like that. Lack of local multiplayer was another reason to get rid of it though.

splatoon 2 doesn't have split screen local multi?

second note, isn't there a big direct coming up? apparently there is a thing out there that amazon has all these placeholder listings for new games that will be announced, like 20 something of them. hoping for a name and updates on octopath traveler

No it doesn't. I bought it to hopefully play with my daughter. Shame on me for not checking first. Kind of just assumed it would be there.

maybe why the kids aren't playing it much, they played the first one local splitscreen quite a bit, they hadn't said anything but they live on fortnite right now anyway

You guys who are not using motion aiming, you NEED to be. I know it's hard at first, I really do. But trust me, you need to use it and get used to it. It's basically like having a mouse aim for a PC, imagine playing an FPS on a PC without a mouse, that's what you're doing when you turn it off.

Splatoon 2 without motion aiming is a crime, and you will be a million times better with it.

I would much rather play a FPS with a controller than a mouse.

Yeah, I'll just keep playing the way I want to. Because that works for me.

Lol OK, you do that.

But you guys are going into games with a disadvantage off the bat. If that works for you then to each his own.

I bought Steam World Dig 2 during this eshop sale and man this game is super fun, but man was the floor is lava temple a pain in my ass. Took me like 10 tries to not touch any of the floor switches.

I guess you got a lot better since the last time you played? I don't use motion controls. I can't stand them in Splatoon.

Yeah last time I played I was handheld and not using motion controls because you actually can't use motion controls while laying down. It's the dumbest thing, when you tilt the Switch up there is no way to reposition the camera so you end up facing the sky.

Plus to be honest I don't know how good I am at the game anyways, especially compared to these pros you see, but I am better with motion controls than without. If you read up on it online there is a major major consensus that motion aiming is better in every way (except laying down in handheld apparently).

At the end of the day you have to go what you're comfortable with though, that's the bottom line, but if you wanted to improve your game I would recommend you try it till you get good at it and you will see a difference. The aiming is so much more fluid and easier to hit moving targets.

Just a suggestion, I would see what you think.

I was anti-motion controls at first, too. It sucked in Splatoon 1 because the Wii U GamePad was just too bulky and tilting it to aim just felt dumb. When Splatoon 2 released I hated it on there too at first. But once you give it a chance and get used to it, there is no going back. I was disappointed to see DOOM on Switch doesn't have it as an option and I hope the dev team that worked on that port have heard the complaints and will add it as an option in Wolfenstein II.
RE: Revelations having motion controls on Switch is the single reason I'm getting that game on Switch instead of PS4 (it's a great game though and I do plan on getting on PS4 eventually, but Switch is the higher priority now just for having that feature).

Hah, definitely the hardest part I've come across, too. Doing all the rooms without touching the floor once was an absolute nightmare, but felt so good when I finally go it!

But, I agree, it's ton of fun. I actually set it aside when a couple other games came out (like Metroid on 3DS...playing two Metroidvanias at once is very confusing) and now I'm on only 500 moons into Mario so I'll probably start over when I get back to it.

Just the casual aspect of collecting and upgrading mixed with the really well-built challenges is incredibly appealing.

Amazon released their top 3 best selling games of 2017, and they are:

1. Mario Odyssey
2. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Zelda Breath of the Wild

Overall, Nintendo ended up with 7 of the top 10 best selling games last year on Amazon.

Honestly, I'm surprised to see Mario Kart above Zelda. We have been hearing all year how Zelda had a near 1-1 attach rate. My only thought is Amazon doesn't represent all game sales, and maybe Mario Kart did better over the holidays. One thing is for sure though, Nintendo kicked ass this year.
