Surge came out today. so far not bad. very nioh and bloodborn feel as in fast combat. switching limbs takes some getting used to.

Phantom Dust remaster is supposed to be out today for free.

injustice came out today as well. grabbed that on my ps4 though,

Do I sell it and pocket the difference? The 4k pass through would be nice and save me the money on a good 4k switch ... Argh.

I'd say keep it. It has a lot of features with upscaling and stuff the "S" doesn't have and the HDMI cable is supposed to be pretty much the best one available anywhere, and a bigger & faster HDD than the S. It will run quieter than your "S" (even thought the S is typically pretty quiet), and it will be the lead platform for a lot of games going forward. I would at least test it out for a few weeks and see if you like it more than the S you had. If you don't see the difference, then would be a good time to sell it off.

Thanks dustin11, i may do just that... Can try the game pass trial and that should let me know. I did buy PUBG though to give it a shot, that is one game I wanted to try when I had PC capable but since this fell in my lap I thought what the hell.

Just talk about being in the right place at the right time lol. I manage a 2nd store and you should see the clothing... If I was a women I would be set! $100, $200 and $300 pairs of jeans with tags still on them donated.. brand new leather jackets with tags donated... It's crazy how people for the most part don't care.

The thing gamepass has over psnow besides price is that your download the game and not just stream it. Sony may be forced to copy that model..they alre aleafy have it with psplus..it just reads if you're subbed and let's you play the game. If ms could add ea games and pubG to gamepass...damn.

Steam on x1..or maybe the next xbox? I dunno but that'd be pretty huge. So many steam games though aren't made for a controller but I guses you just hooked up the old k/m and go...hmm.

Someone mentioned If you add all that to gamepass for 10 bucks you'd end the console war..it does seem like without some serious commitment from the competition that would be hard to match.

If it's not EA.. I'd be willing to bet MS makes some big moves soon.

So you see that this would be what they wanted. An all digital future. Also games as service. They are just slowly putting us in the boiling pot.

they would definitely love an all digital future, no overhead for producing physicals and no splitting with stores. kill gamestop and the secondary market which makes them nothing also.

the new report from the ESA is that 74% of game sales are digital now. that's up a lot from just a few years ago. by 2021 that is expected to be over 90%. something like this gamepass service could become a standard thing, not only do they sell you a console (which actually they typically don't make a lot or really anything at all on), but they can sell you games digitally at higher profit margins and offer an attractive subscription service to play those games that keeps you paying monthly. imagine if every home with a console in it was subscribed to that service, because for 10 bucks a month for all that content..why not? that's cheaper than a hulu sub with no commercials. tv, movies, pc games..its all gone this way, its likely just the next step forward for console gaming. i think they have to let you download the game though, i don't think sony's streaming model is going to work well enough for a large part of the consumer base they are going to have to switch to this model as well at some point.

A lot of games are only offered as digital, it would be interesting to see what percentage of games are sold as digital that have both a physical and digital release. I believe that retail games with both options still mostly sell physical. This was kind of MS's entire point at the beginning of the gen, all though they also wanted for you to be able to add up to 10 people outside of your home to your "plan" and you could share games back and fourth. They just did a horrible job of explaining that and didn't have the benefits as the selling points but rather the limitations of their plan, namely the always online aspect which Sony seems to have adopted with not only PSNow, but also some of their biggest AAA games such as GT Sport. In all honesty, I think what we're going to get in the future is what MS wanted to do at the beginning of this generation, they just tried to implement everything too quickly rather than take baby steps and get us slowly acclimated to it.

Last gen going all digital really wasn't much of an option, but now a lot of people seem to be going that direction and why not since you have the DL every game to your HDD anyways. Always online will still be a ways off because not everyone who would want to play is going to have internet, but I wonder if that's such a small percentage now that that's not really much of a consideration to the industry.

Digital only would be fine if these companies learned how to properly price digital games. When digital games are higher than physical months after release, that's a problem.

Once game stores are out of the picture that will happen. I've heard a lot that they can't under cut places like GS and Amazon because they'll stop carrying their games if they do. They'll have to build up a beefy online store then make game stop irrelevant first.

Or once they get the used physical market out of the way they'll have free reign to charge even more since that'll be the only available way to get games. Could go either way.

They're getting better. Just picked up Persona 5 digitally for $30, hardest decision was deciding between PS3 version or PS4 version, which would necessitate a PS4 purchase.

I went with the PS4 version.

I think they have to be careful that they don't price themselves out of the physical market; B&M stores are fickle and don't like being challenged on value. Look at what they did with the new Pirates of Dark Water game when Xbox said they'd include it with PS+ subscriptions.

lol, right. they cant effectively begin to price digital the way it should be until they no longer need retailers. the problem isn't game sales as much as it is console sales from what ive seen. to sell you digital games they need to sell you the console first, and most console sales are still done at retail. as people begin to get more comfortable making bigger purchases online that will probably change, but there is no incentive for retailers to carry the console if they cant make money on game sales, as there is no profit on consoles really. its all games and especially accessories. when I worked retail they always had us market and push accessories hard because of the margins.

I have to get warranty on the Controller, the left trigger sticks.. trying to enter info into the console yesterday was kinda tuff lol,,, it sure was a lot more quite (the controller). The system is whisper quiet also! I am impressed with how heavy it was! I love a little heft, they don't feel cheap.

I called MS yesterday and they sent out a new controller, so that's good. Still may buy another while I wait since I need two. Can't wait to try PUBG tonight.

Dude probably played the controller with grubby hands. I liked the heft also but it was unexpected when taking it out of the box and it nearly slipped out of my hands. The thing is dead silent too, I think it runs at like 40db or something like that. PUBG is all my Brother has played since it launched, its hooked on it.

LOL, my thoughts... but the sticky controller aside it was just one HELL of a deal raspberry I took extra care when I took it out of the box, I did that once before and it scared me for life (dropped my Snes when taking it out of the package! was just WAY to excited)

My Nephew plays, but on PC.. he does have it on Xbox also but only plays it when some of his other buddies do. Looking forward to it anyway.

Honestly, I would rather them expand game pass than get steam sales just because with GP I don't need to spend anything on it other than $10/month (or free with my points), then if I like the game I get it for 20% off. That to me personally and my situation is just a better overall deal.

Yup, that may be a gold member thing, not too sure, but if you like the game and you want to keep it then you get 20% off. Pretty sweet deal.

Kind of reminds me of when you see a little Chihuahua pestering a much bigger dog as its laying down resting and the larger dog has enough and nips back.

I agree, Steam is what made me love all digital on PC... and that model would make me get over my hangups for console. To be honest with all the Flash deals on PSN I have been mostly digital this gen out of the 138 games I have 18 of them right now are physical copies that I currently in my library.

The point of GP is the rotating library of games to play which I assume helps them keep the price down significantly. They do have a section in the XBL store which tells you which games are about to be removed and under the 20% off sale thing it says when that particular game will be removed (20% off until 06-01-18, for example, implying the game will be removed June 1st).

that's almost what they were trying to do with that "rental" thing they announced where you unlimited games for 6 months for 60 bucks and keep any game you had checked out at the end of the term.

dustin11
Double Gold Good Trader Global Trader - willing to trade internationally
31-Jan-2018(#193)
Yeah, doing that with physical media though I think is against the law since you have to buy special rental versions of the game. At least that's how movies worked, they cost the company something like $60/copy. GS was trying to do it with used media and, if games work like movies do, then you can't do that.

back in my rental/retail days our rental games were just regular ones and we had to put those buffer stickers on them, it pained me to ruin a perfectly good video game every time I did it :(

funny unrelated story... I used to get to take the alleged bad games home and test them, people would bring back ps1 games etc claiming they didn't work if they didn't like the game or to get a free rental.. one day me and another girl went to lunch and I carried the bag of games out and sat them on top of the car when I was loading stuff, and drove off with them up there... we heard something and I noticed something in the mirror, and as the horror of the realization came over us she exclaimed "the games!!!" so there we are picking games up out of the middle of the street.. thankfully we weren't still in front of the store (hastings) lol.

Quick question about the X... On the site could hit the button next to the "x" and bring up a quick menu... For some reason on both controllers this button does nothing. Is there a setting I am missing?

Also I got the one controller replaced with a Blue one and picked up a dark grey one with orange on the base of the sticks. These are sooooo much quiter then the others... I am thinking that Last S was just a dud. Oh well could not be happier now.

Not too sure about that one. I always just use the "xbox" button for all my quick menu stuff.

Also remember that the console won't play games at 4k or HDR by default, you have to enable them in the settings menu.

PUBG's graphics are definitely not its strong point. Its got like PS2 graphics regardless of what console you're playing it on. If you want a good graphical showcase then look more in the direction of Forza 7 and Gears 4. Both had monster texture packs though. I think Forza 7 ends up as like 95gb and GoW4 a little over 100gb.

On PC it looks okay... more often? But that plane at the starting area always, always looks like crap. Some of the textures they bought for this game are atrocious and I'm appalled they made it past paid beta (Early Access, sorry.). Some textures pop over others. This doesn't look like a game that's invested in itself during development. At all.

In fact it looks like they invested as little as possible. And then the developers explain it away as "it's hard to scale up" which... I'm sorry. But I'm not sorry.
