This topic had many older posts which were moved here:

Doesn't look like there's a discussion thread for PS4, unless I'm blind. Let's discuss PS4, then, in this thread.

Recent news: according to Kotaku, Gamestop is no longer taking preorders for the system. Hope you got your preorder in!

If you haven't played since it updated, just delete the game data and re-install/download. Sony pulled update so it wont download again. I'm probably going to do that tonight myself.

Same. Put in 3 hours today on a pro, and no issues on my end with the 1.06 patch. Must be other factors besides just the patch - maybe how far they're in, etc.

@gypsy Yakuza 6 spoilers...

So Haruto really is Haruka's kid and Yuta of all people is the father??? Sigh. I was so sure the kid was just someone Haruka rescued and trying to protect. I'm pretty bummed now. I was hoping we'd get some sort of flashback and we'd find out Haruka was doing something cool like training to be a bad ass like Uncle Kaz and just got herself caught up in something crazy. Instead she just getting knocked up by some random dude. I just had to pause the game to get that all out lol. Just left Onomichi on a boat.

I just found this article about a new Days Gone patch gone live to address audio issues.

https://comicbook.com/gaming/2019/05/01/new-days-g...

They also notated this:

"Known Issues

The crash on startup and other issues in this scope are being investigated. As of now, if you haven't downloaded Patch 1.06 and start up Days Gone, you will remain with Patch 1.05 active. Updates to come."

How can a game go "gold" if it needs constant patches? Do they really test games on the actual console or just test on PCs and "assume" it's all good?

This wasn't made for PC so I assume they test it on actual PS4s. Every single PS4 and X1 game I have ever played had update patches. I think when you have 80+ GB games with millions of downloads across 3 different system types (fat, slim, Pro) with different build types within those 3 you're going to get these types of things.

The game has only been out since last Friday and they're already patching buds which is a good thing in my opinion. We're never going to see a prefect working product for everyone on launch day on ANY game considering how big and variable these are. especially when you have to account for 4K on some machines, 1080p on others etc.

Some users experiences zero issues with this game, which shows you how varied a response you can get.

Ask Anthem. They can make a Games as a Service title and not know what it even was going to be 6 out of the 7 years of development.

It did have a minor patch actually, about a week ago raspberry

Since the Switch era began it's not uncommon for Nintendo developed games to have day one patches (Yoshi didn't have one and that surprised me, but then again the game was finished and available to pre-purchase on the eShop 3 months ahead of release). But most of their post-launch patches are usually so small that if you have auto updates enabled it's possible to not even notice that they had downloaded in the background. It's way different than the mess of a day one update Wii U had at launch.

Yeah don't remind me. I'll never buy another GaaS game again. Dragon Age 4 will be GaaS apparently. Granted, I never liked that series but after Anthem I'd never buy anything by Bioware again.

It wasn't the first, but it was the first that wasn't a top down looter shooter. There were many diablo style loot games that were top down in that style where you shot guns. But Borderlands popularized the term, and brought it forward out of that old style of game. And it blew up from there.

No more "sharing" guns you find. Pick up a purple, there is still that purple there for the co-op partner, each getting it scaled to their level.

In this demo, a level 5 playing with a level 25. The level 5 sees level 5 enemies and does that level damage. They are all scaled to the other level for the other player.

I'm sure it's all fun and games in BL3 until they start incorporating microtransactions and loot boxes to get the really "good" gear and guns. I want to be excited for it, I truly do. Weak month. They raise the price, take away PS3 and Vita games, and then give out two indie games that have been on sale for like $5 a piece in the past. Unbelievable!

The further I get into Days Gone, the more I'm convinced this is a goty candidate. The character stories are amazing. And the way the story is handled is great. The general game play is average, but fun. But the story stuff is what shines and it stands apart from other games. Its on the same level as The Last of Us in that regard. Its too bad people will miss out on this game because of some average reviews or bad word of mouth because of early bug issues. At least Bend is working very hard to fix the issues. They've released 7 patches in the 6 days the game has been out (two actually were before launch, combined in the day one). These guys and gals are working over time to fix all reported issues. And I don't think they are getting enough credit for it.

The second camp that you go to, with the old lady. There is one directly in front of her camp. Which I think appears after you make the choice of who to give the drugs to. If you leave the camp and go to the right, in front of that lodge with the ambulance in front of it. Then follow the road to the T intersection. There is a cave across the T intersection. One is in that cave during day. And roams around that area at night.

Ya then I would wait till PS5. I have 4K, HDR, and PSVR so I kind of need it. Really depends on your setup.

DiamondDave wrote:

It presents a very nice 2160p image that looks just as sharp to me as the One X image of the same game in real life, even if it did get there with checkerboard upscaling of 1440p on some games, and looks better than the 1080p counterpart, especially on a big ass screen.

For only $150 or so more, to me it seems like an easy buy if you're running a 4K setup. I think it's good at what it does, and definitely cannot wait till the PS5 is relased and we get true native 4K60 HDR (which the One X can't do either) on pretty much every game.

GPU technology is getting better and better. Supposedly the PS5 is going to push 10-12 TF whereas the Pro does about 4. Using a 7nm chip that helps with heat issues, faster RAM, more RAM, 3 times the GPU output, 4K60 shouldn't actually be that difficult, especially when games are console optimized.

Don't get me wrong, I have a see to believe attitude too, but i also know i am buying it on day 1 regardless of what it does. I just don't think it's crazy for a $400 or $500 console to push out 4K60 with modern day technology.

new info from platinum. 2 more games in development, they're never going to finish anything at this rate.

interview with the head guy, heres the details.

Bayonetta 3 will see a change in design process based on Platinum Games' experience on developing Bayonetta 1 and 2.

Platinum Games is midway through the development of an unannounced title which "has never been done before," according to Inaba. He added, "I know a lot of people say that, but the game we're working on truly is unlike anything else. Even for our varied history of veteran game developers, this is something that has never been designed before. So from a game design perspective, we're very excited right now."

Platinum Games is aiming to move towards self-publishing, as it will eventually have the "freedom" to own its intellectual properties and make independent decisions on future directions.

"2019 will be an incredibly important year for us," Inaba said. "Without speaking directly to the number of titles we may or may not announce, I can say it's going to be a year of some major new approaches, new challenges and new methods for us. Basically, we're building a new foundation that in later years will pay dividends. For us, new challenges are going to be very important."

Platinum Games' new approaches include a move away from relying on external publisher funding, as well as an examination of how it structures game design.

While Platinum Games has worked with third-party partners in the past on properties it does not own, such as Bayonetta, NieR: Automata, and the upcoming Astral Chain, it is currently working on two new intellectual properties owned entirely by the studio, neither of which have been announced.

The creation of wholly-owned properties will not result in the end of third-party collaborations, however. "There are still going to potentially be games in which we partner with publishers to do big things with big IPs," Inaba said. There might be some co-publishing options where we're doing some of it and they're doing some of it to make a larger game, and there might be situations where we're going to be self-publishing larger games as well."

For a company that had anything to do with Nier Automata to say that they're doing something that's never been done before is pretty bold, considering that game had elements of like every game style known to man.

ya they are up there.. CDPR, Paradox, Falcom, Ryu Ga Gotuku, and proabably most anything from platinum i trust solid enough to be auto buys.

another studio once famous for Commander Shepherds favorite store on the Citadel used to be in that list. :'(
