Finally getting into it. Have maybe 15-20 hours in. Feels... Wayyy too easy compared to the first in the early hours. Not only are the weapons much stronger but the night missions feel vastly easier.

Overall it's fun, but coming off of Halo, HFW and Elden Ring, it's kinda boring. Way too many run here, kill that, grab that. Not much fun in regard to upgrades for changing up combat. I've yet to use, or need, any items, minus healing. May start avoiding side missions as they don't really seem to be paying off.

Tempted to bail for Tiny Tina. Anyone else far in and can speak to it getting better? I have the week off work between jobs (start at Microsoft on the 9th!) and want to invest my time the best way possible (sans an endless amount of house projects).

Although, I feel like I'm enjoying the story more than the first.

Alright... So once you get to the second major area of the game, the fun factor does jump a bit with a new key item.

Well, to me the first was pretty damn hard. I played it solo which is supposedly the hardest way to play it. So easier to enjoy the game/story is good to me especially with limited play time.

I am wanting to move onto playing it whenever I can complete Ghost of Tsushima. But yeah... zombie game, gonna be a lot of running around and killing things.

I can't see the game being fun in co-op, definitely a single player game.

Yeah I am not huge into co-op with these types of games. Just leave me alone, let me follow the story and trigger events.

Dead Island had a co-op where people could just pop into your game and play. It was interesting but I mostly kept myself offline so I could explore on my own.

Both dying light games are exponentially more fun with people online. Of course, getting someone who actually wants to do the storyline missions and side missions is easier said than done, for the most part, I was able to get people who were well behaved (had them all on mute).

Game kinda drags when it's played solo

I haven't played it myself yet, but I'd hope you're wrong. It was built for co-op. It's one feature they always talk about,

This one was a huge letdown for me. Ugly and boring. No reason to invest with everything else out there.

After awhile, it did get better'ish. Once you get two key items, the navigation is definitely more fun. Still, massive repetition. I regret putting so much into it already, but I'm having fun. Gonna skip many of the side quests (there is wayyyy too many). Wish I would have picked Tiny Tina or Strangers but oh well. Don't think I have too much left of the main story.

I actually really enjoy DL2. At least in shorter play sessions. I didn't play much on DL1 because it was only in 30fps on ps4 and I couldn't really enjoy it like that. So as soon as the game got a 60 fps mode on PS5, I downloaded it. I actually bought it years ago but just couldn't get into it. But now I like swap between both games.
The PS5 update put the first game at 1440p60 and added way farther draw distance. Imo it looks just as good as 2, which maybe isnt saying much as part 2 should look better on a ps5. For some reason the frame rate mode is locked to 1080p, which looks kinda ugly on my 4k set. I honestly think they will keep on updating and adding new stuff for many years, just like Techland has done for DL1. Which actually after 7 years, tomorrow they will release a new dlc and one last huge update for the first game.
So if they supported the first one for 7 years, I don't see it being any different for it's sequel. Give it a year and the game will be loaded with content and hopefully they add some sort of fire arms. The dlc that dl1 is getting tomorrow, includes a friggin chainsaw gun. Looks friggin awesome and would be great to get some stuff like that in the 2nd one. Like they just added a new game plus mode to 2, and stuff like that should have been there at launch. Also the endgame stuff is bare bones, to say the least.

@MrBean I recently got the plat for Tiny Tina's and I had a complete blast with the game. Way better then borderlands imo. I do feel like they need to add in some QoL stuff tho. Like letting you start your 2nd playthrough on mayham mode, like in BL3. It would give me even more reason to play thru the game with a different class. My biggest complaint with the game is that the first paid dlc was literally a 20 min experience. Sure it added some new weapons and spells, etc but it's hands down one of the most disappointing dlc that I have played. I hope the remaining 3 dlc from the season pass isn't all the same stuff like dlc1. I enjoyed the story a lot and they better release some good story expansion, for real. Not this 10 min rehash that was released. It will suck if the main game is awesome, but with lousy dlc. Come on Gearbox, give the players more story crap to do.

Ok, sorry for the incredibly long post. It's 3am here and I can't get to sleep. So I'm just spaced out I guess.

tldr:. I like both Dying Light 1 & 2 and I have no doubt Techland will add some great stuff in the coming months.
And also that Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is a damn fun game and that the first dlc is just a huge letdown.

Also, if anyone wants to do some story quests or even want to do some choas chamber runs, just lmk. The game is cross platform play, so doesn't matter which system u have it on.

What is Tina Tina even about? Is it playing as her, or doing missions for her, or what? I haven't looked at it much.

Hoping to get to DL2 sometime this year. *sigh*

Tiny Tina is basically a DM for a game similar to D&D, and you create a character and go on an adventure that plays like Borderlands but in a fantasy realm. You get guns and battle axes and magic at the same time.

The first Dying Light was game of the year for me when it came out, I loved it that much. I played through it maybe 6 times. However, I didn't like the DLC that came out with the vehicles. I was so excited for DL2, but with all the delays and whatnot, my excitement dwindled. I did get it on release day, played it for maybe 5-6 hours and haven't touched it since.

That sounds like something I need to play.

Bought DL when it was like $7.99 CDN and this was a little before the PS5 update being announced... Or at least I never knew about it... I want to get into it. Gotta finish God of War then Elden Ring... But Tiny Tina keeps popping up and I really wanna give it a go.

Also thinking about dialing back on digital games for physical. I want DL2 but I need to wait for a good deal on a physical copy.

I'm wondering if I should get it for PS5 or Steam. Is there a lot of FPS elements? I am better on PC for that if so.

DL2? It's in essence a FPA. I prefer PC for FPS, but enjoyed playing both Dying Lights on Console. Combat is just like the first, primarily all melee so no real advantage of PC vs consoles TBH.

Neat. Yeah if mostly melee that is helpful.
I'm probably gonna pick it up once I finish Ghost of Tsushima but I'm going pretty slow with it,
