Surprised we don't have anything going on this topic. See if it goes anywhere, but I came here to ask for support on the Oculus/Quest.

Family got me a Quest 2 for my bday. I've been holding out for the next release and/or PSVR2, but eh, I'll take it!

Suggestions for best games to play on it?

I picked up a few accessories too:
- Strap with Battery and Carrying Case - https://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&lo...
- Fat Sweaty Man Visor - https://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&lo...

Any others I should be looking at?

Thanks!

Half-life Alyx and Beat Saber are pretty much mandatory plays. I enjoyed both Moss and Cards & Tankards. Accounting+ is weird but worth a look and Job Simulator is a fun game that my daughter really loves.

Keep an eye on Fanatical.com for VR bundles.

I don't have a Quest 2, but Beat Saber, Super Hot, and Pistol Whip

My fam got me a Quest 2 for my bday (just recently) as well haha. I don't have a PC so I can't play some of the PC Link stuff like Half Life or the Lone Echoes that I wish I could.

So far I've liked:
Red Matter (super chill, no enemies, great starter game)
Synth Riders (more forgiving than beat saber)
Youtube VR - loads of stuff flying over major cities (pyramids of egypt, paris, petra, etc.)
Tentacular

I loved Astrobot on PS and unfortunately there aren't many platformers like that. I'm prob going to try Lucky's Tale and/or Ven VR Adventures next ($20 each).

Pistol Whip and The Room VR ($30 each) are on my list but I'm waiting on sales for those.

I'm interested in opinions on the elite strap and battery. So far I'm not playing for more than 2 hours but I hear the strap is more comfortable. And not being capped at 2 hours or whatever would be nice.

My brother has it and I've used his, it definitely seems worth it.

You can hook up the Quest to a computer. It allows you to run games from the computer video card, as well as shows on screen what you are looking at.

You can even run it over your wifi if it's fast enough.

Ok you NEED to get Eleven Table Tennis. It’s all i play on quest 2, even though there’s so much other cool crap I bought (including Beat Saber and Resident evil 4)

If you’re disappointed I’ll personally paypal you the cost (but you can just refund it within 2 weeks/max 2 hr playtime AFAIK, for all the games)

If you get it let me know and we can play a couple rounds too

I second Accounting+. It’s super weird but really interesting. If you get it, do all of the achievements, because there is some cool additional content that you only get by figuring out a few secrets.

I got the Kiwi elite strap or whatever it’s called and it was a gamechanger. Only thing I like about original strap is how compact the whole system is with it, this makes it much bulkier…but so much more comfortable, and easier to adjust

Actually, the elite strap is good... But I want to find something better. My head is gigantic and I just barely fit in, not enough room to keep glasses on either. Looks like Kiwi is a big player. Trying to find a combo strap and battery.

I have a Quest 1. I'm really liking Walkabout Mini Golf. It gives you 8 themed courses that are great. When you make par on a course, you unlock a pretty wicked hard mode for that course. There are also 4 extra courses you can buy.

Job Simulator, FX pinball, and Moss are also great games.

Download Aircar for free from Steam. Epic experience flying a car like a Blade Runner vehicle. It's only 1 city map, but there is a point. It's a great sense of immersion.

Star Wars Squadrons is good too. As well as Alien Isolation with the VR mod

In-game on wifi and it works great.

I don't have the most experience. I found that some of the more intense moving games give me serious motion sickness, so the free Ultimate Frisbee game is no good for me.
Here are some of my favorites:

Eleven Table Tennis - Amazing, realistic looking and feeling

Vader Immortal - Got all 3 episodes together for 1/2 price on Black Friday. It's a lot of fun.

Thrill of the Fight - This is the best boxing sim ever. It's a legitimate workout. Creed is more arcadey. This one is cheap and awesome.

Sports Scramble - I only played the demo, but I really liked the baseball game. It's worth checking out of you like sports. The bowling and tennis aren't that great.

And obviously Beat Saber, but endings talks about that one.

In the Youtube app check out this channel, they have some decent 360' view videos. it's not super clear in the headset but it is pretty interesting to glide over big cities and be able to look in any direction. I've enjoyed that quite a bit.

From @Anxiouz

The Oculus store is having a nice sale so I bought some new things:

Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge (Quest 2) - 9/10 - Super simple but I am thoroughly enjoying every moment of this. There's nothing exceptional, but everything is super polished and really, really well done. Except for throwing grenades...I can't seem to figure that out...they just drop to my feet every time. frown

Synth Riders (Quest 2) - 8/10 - Best comparison would be to Beat Saber but with more smooth controller motions. Great music and a really zen experience. The light rumble in the controller along with your in-game arm glowing when hitting a note is brilliantly satisfying.

I don't have a good enough PC, but I am probably going to sell my Series X and get a PSVR 2. If I don't like it then I suppose I can always sell it and get another Xbox....

I am actually pretty impressed with the tech in the PSVR 2, I just wish they had Beat Saber.

*Oh crap they do.

@MrBean This is the deepest sale I've seen yet. Every day there is 1 item that gets discounted but it's usually just a couple bucks and so far nothing of interest. This is definitely a noteworthy sale although at most you might save $10 on something. But this is literally the only place you can buy the games.

Star Wars Galaxy Edge is a great example of what the Quest 2 can do. It's normally $25 + $10 for a DLC. All of it together is $25 right now and I hear with the DLC it's a good 7-8 hours of gameplay. I'm only a couple hours in but so far this is the best experience I've had on the Oculus. https://www.oculus.com/experiences/quest/112320777...

The music genre is ideal for VR, you may want to consider grabbing either of these, both are great but different:
Synth Riders $16.99 (normally $25)
Pistol Whip $20.99 (normally $30)

You can try a demo of Synth Riders if you want to sample it first (that's what I did): https://www.oculus.com/experiences/quest/365597796...

If you enjoy synth riders and beat saber you have to try Audica. It’s from the creators of rock band and it’s one of my favorite VR experiences

So taking advantage of this sale based on what I've heard in this thread and random browsing ... this is my current list.

Bought:
- Vader Immortal
- Star Wars Galaxy Edge
- Synth Riders
- Creed Rise to Glory
- Eleven Table Tennis
- Pistol Whip
- Walkabout Mini Golf
- Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs
- The Climb 2

Others to get (that weren't on sale)
- Beat Saber
- Pinball FX
- Red Matter

What else should I be snagging now while the sale is on? I lose internet tomorrow until Sunday afternoon as we'll be camping in a no signal area. Let me know ASAP!

Thanks

That's a solid list. I don't know that I could recommend anything else besides The Room VR or I Want You To Die. I haven't played them but hear great things. Oh, Moss is $20 if you never played it on PSVR. Moss 2 comes to Quest in July I think.

Red Matter was the first thing I bought. It's super chill (no enemies or weapons) and a good first experience but now that I've played other stuff it's a bit dull in comparison. Definitely wait for a sale on it.

FINALLY getting to this ...

Order of operations:
- Finished setup
- Pornhub
- Vader Immortal (kinda bummed, first episode was like an hour? still awesome though)
- Half Life Alyx (installing desktop Oculus now)

So far, pretty impressed! The BOBOVR is definitely better than the official extended headstrap with battery. Way more comfortable for giant heads.

I've heard Vader is really short (all 3 episodes) but the 3rd one is best. I never tried it though. The Tales from the Galaxy one is pretty good so far though.

Also, not sure if you're aware of the non-Oculus store stuff. But there's this: https://sidequestvr.com/apps/applab/1/rating

Some of these require some extra steps on a PC, but others install just like normal. They're on the regular store, just not browsable. So that site gives a direct link to the store where you can DL the game.

Pavlov's Shack is highly recommended although I haven't booted it up yet: https://sidequestvr.com/app/392/pavlov-shack

I just sold a butt-load of pricey games to a local guy and now have enough for an Oculus/Meta Quest 2 and some accessories. I think I'm finally ready to take the plunge. Here is what I'm considering buying so far:

- 256 GB system
- Elite Strap with battery
- case
- lens protector

Am I missing something? Also, is there a case that any of you would recommend?

Agree that 128GB is plenty of space.

And be sure to use a referral code when activating the device. If you use that referal link you'll get a $30 credit for use in the store, and the referrer will also get $30 credit!

I had a referral but got mine all setup before realizing it's not a code you can enter at some point.
You can't apply this afterwards so I lost out on the $30. You have to go through the referral link before activating a device but absolutely do that. Everyone can generate their referral link for you, but of course I'm happy to. wink
