So I'm keeping the Game & Watch, Virtual Boy, most of the PC games, the PSP games, and a smattering of the rest of the stuff, but a lot is available for trade if folks are interested. The Atari stuff is definitely available, though I was gonna hang on to Attack of the Mutant Camels just for the name alone. Haven't had the time to update my lists, though, so feel free to PM if there's something you're interested in!

@Gildon_Dancypants Super impressed with that VB and G&W find! This is the first time I've ever heard of someone finding a Game & Watch at a garage sale. So there's hope for @Frank and me yet!

I'd totally trade for Punch-Out, but I've got nothing you want, sadly. Oh well, great find either way!

Turns out all the games are there, from the lot I bought, but axis and allies is a copy inside, and island paradise for sims 3 has no cd. That's the 2nd one I have (the sims island paradise - I knew I had it and was like maybe that one is cd only, nope both only keys lol), and have a shelf of incomplete games. When I get time, I might list out the keys or whatever individually. No idea if even worth my time, but now I got an axis and allies big box and some other boxes, maybe make a lot of them all one day if no one needs the box(es) locally. More to list out, *sigh*. Maybe this is the unwritten code of our life weavings itself into writing in the grand ol machinae ad ballrooms. All we do is idle on concepts and waste time, apart from embarking on feelings and emotional harness go's. Time to code in something new, and have the machine change up something and say, you're saying what's already there lol

In yet another "boy I need someone to help me manage my money" moment, I found a binder with a bunch of blurays so I paid $15 for the lot.

image
image

The first photo has a bunch of Disney discs, I figured I can list those on ebay along with a couple of other discs I have around and make back the money I spent. The others, well, most are trade fodder, but I'm gonna be looking for art and cases for a few of them. Fantastic Beasts is a 4K/BD combo, too. I have no interest in that one. I also got three other DVDs but they're not in the best of shape.

I've actually managed to amass a nice little collection of Game & Watches from yard sales over the years! Here's where it stands now:

I found a mint copy of the Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome soundtrack on vinyl. It sill had the ridiculous fold-out poster too.

Also - if you have an Ollie's Discount store in your area and are into graphic novels, they've got a really good selection.

I went into the one that is down in Worcester MA on Sunday and came home with the following for $48

Most impressive! I’m looking for Fire Attack specifically—the black and orange give it a striking aesthetic—but I’ll take anything I can find. You’d think LCD games would be easy to find at garage sales like NES games, but I’ve never been so lucky.

I almost got a CIB Kirby's Pinball Land for $41.25 total, but someone managed to top me two seconds after my snipe bid. Oh well, losing to a sniper is part of the eBay experience--many of my competitors have learned this the hard way! laughing out loud

Did I mention I got Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions (loose) for $33 a few weeks ago? If not, then yeah, I did that. Saved me $7ish on the eShop.

Nice!!!

I had to give away my three JVC D-Series TV"s and a few 9" CRT's when I moved recently. Even trashed an RCA CRT because I had nothing I could do with it and nobody would take it for free.

I have no space now, but I sure do miss the CRT days :(

I'm very against cart only these days, especially with DS/3DS/Switch. I'd gladly pay $2 more. If you are cool with cart only though, there's nothing wrong with that. I realize I'm the problem laughing out loud

I go with what’s cheapest first, then go for extras if they’re worth it. I usually store DS/3DS/Switch carts in cart holders and dump the boxes in a tub out of sight.
And of course, eBay sniping is the most fun way to buy games, so if I can snatch a game out from under someone’s nose AND get it cheaper, that’s usually what I’ll do. Hence why I settled for a loose $33 cart here.

A deal from GameStop:

image

They had the game on clearance ($49.99 still...), but they had a 50% off anything MARKED as clearance sale, so it cost me ~$25 plus tax. Didn't expect a SEALED copy to boot, lol.

I know it's nothing much, but game shops in my area still have this game marked at the $50 price point...plus: Rare GameStop deal, lol.

I won an auction, but at a frustrating price.
[imgt w=1200 h=1600]https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/J2MAAOSwKrdjVaZ4/s-...[/imgt]
Ever Oasis for $43 + shipping, resulting in $51.30 altogether. I don't always go for boxes, but this one looks rather nice, with a lovely art style and pleasant-looking characters. Everything was going great until the seller added four hours to the auction, then people actually started bidding in the last hour. I made the mistake of putting 39 as my max bid and then waiting to snipe with 40, so someone else topped me with 40. I then made the rookie mistake of bidding 41 immediately instead of sniping with it. Got topped with 42, and then made the do-or-die choice of sniping with 43. I expected the other bidder to have a higher max bid to bump me out, but he didn't. So I won a pyrrhic victory. Thanks for inspiring me, @Frank ; I never could've done it without your box-dedication, lol.

Now let's see if I win a weak port of Xenoblade.
EDIT: I didn't, but that's kind of a relief.

Wait, what? How can a seller add four hours to a listing?

I'm fairly sure you can't do that eBay as well. Yahoo Auctions has an automatic extension thing you can put on where I believe it adds another 5 minutes if there is a bid in the last 5 minutes or something like that. I've ran into that buying off Yahoo Auctions Japan via proxy.

@Foxhack Huh. I won the item around 5 PM Michigan time, but eBay says I paid at 1:40 PM. Maybe eBay calculates time differently. How'd you find the dead listing, anyway?

Helped a coworker move into his new house not long ago. He asked if I liked old games, I said “Of course I do!”.
He hooked me up! He wanted to give them to me for helping but eventually I drove him like 6 hours so he could buy a new car.

I’m sure there are better finds out there. I did price everything individually with vgpc, turned out to be about $2600 worth of stuff, give or take. Yeah, he’s a good guy. He paid $150 for all the nes stuff about 20 years ago, and the snes stuff was from his childhood. So I don’t think he cared much. The magazines were going to get tossed.

I’ve gotten some pretty good deals in my years of collecting. Scored all three panzer dragoon games on the Saturn for $3 each, like new with the foam still. Funtastic orange n64 for $20, all that genesis stuff in the first pic for $30, over 1000 vhs tapes for free, personally my favorite find. I think it’s good to have connections.

I found wwf no mercy, star wars episode 1 racer and the rugrats in Paris all n64 carts for $6 at savers. They were tied up in a bag with some rc car controller hanging on the wall of bags of random electronics and I definitely did a double take seeing n64 games there in 2022, unfortunately nothing great but I still bought them

Not saying its not a good game but I was hoping for some games with higher monetary value honestly lol, I had a PS1 in that era and am not a wrestling fan, didn't have any friends who had the game so I don't have any nostalgia for it.

Definitely not a great deal on anything but My friend had a booth at our local flea market and I wanted to support him. Picked up:

Super Mario rpg $70
A link to the past $25
Mario and Luigi PiT CIB $30
Zelda spirit tracks CIB $30
Narc
Iron sword
Rush n attack
Legacy of the wizard
All for $5 each

Really stoked just to find good games locally as I seldom do.

The thrill of the hunt is the HIGH I've always looked for. I use to just buy games cheap to sell to support my game collecting. Until 2008 I had to sell almost everything I had and I really didn't have that much. My bad health made me love games so much. And when I sold here and eBay I always sold for a lot less because I knew what I paid for it. I knew games were a great investment but didn't think some games would so expensive. And most of the games that are of high value now were all clearanced because they didn't sell in the store. And I always knew games would be a better investment than say baseball cards as they don't do anything other than look at them. I tried to get my father to buy this stuff just for an investment but sadly he did not listen. I knew he wouldn't play them but I figured he could have a better retirement fund. I hate looking at games this way now but that's the way it is now. They say bacon is better than sex but finding games is what does it for me. I really only sell stuff now that I won't play because its just it hard to find stuff now.

Twohearted I love that Mario and Luigi game for Nintendo ds. I had the game when it came out but regrettably sold it after I beat it. Thankfully 3 years later I found the game complete at a garage sale for $10 which was more than I wanted to spend for a used game. Now it sits on my shelf never to be sold until I'm long gone because I just cant find games anymore locally. I'm not looking to get rich just trying to collect the stuff I love. But now if go to a church sale you see people with their phones out looking sell everything. They have no love for games its just about the money. I'd love to have some games that were worth some money but I'm not looking to break the bank here I'm just looking to get back games I've had in the past that I would love to have the physical copies again.

I'm in the same boat, only I never ended up picking it back up. Sold it off probably over 10 years ago and regret it big time. Hopefully I can find a decent price or a trade some day!
