I wonder if that's what happened to mine that went kaput 6 months ago...
Due to lack of space and proper air circulation, I've always kept my 5 vertical...even my new one. Ugh

5-Jan-2023(#204)I normally always go horizontal but with the PS5 it's so damn big it only fits beside my tv vertical. It doesn't fit in any of the shelves or cubbies.

5-Jan-2023(#205)I bought my PS5 shortly after a big earthquake hit us. Horizontal 100% of the time.

5-Jan-2023(#206)I've never had a system vertical and never will

7-Jan-2023(#214)I got premium because my stacked PS+ turned into it with the one month Now hack thing.
I would say that extra would have sufficed, i don't really use the retro system stuff or any game streaming. I just like the monthly games and the discounts.

7-Jan-2023(#215)I would do extra but I've played or bought nearly everything of interest. $60 for a year isn't too bad of an offer, but I don't play online and play most of my indies on PC. It seems like most of the stuff on there is a "yeah, that might be worth checking out eventually" game rather than a recent must-play

7-Jan-2023(#216)Id say Extra is the best value one if you can get it on a sale. Playing PSX games isnt for me and I dont see any value on playing the PS3 games streaming without any performance upgrades.
I think there is a sale right now. I also got the one on Black Friday but I dont remember what I paid for the year.
On a different topic, I just finished The Pedestrian via PS+ whichever included it. Fun little puzzle game that didnt overstay its welcome.

8-Jan-2023(#217)I just put Pedestrian on my wishlist, looks interesting. Why not, it's "free".
That's what I did when I got Extra. I went through the catalog and put games on my wishlist that I wanted to check out. There were too many to download all at once. I'm planning to go through them slowly when I'm looking to try a new game. It's like a virtual backlog.
I was already doing normal Plus for the past few years. I had done the math on it, and it came out that I'd save more money from the discounts on what I was buying. I tend to buy a lot of odd games that go on sale. Some have been good, but many I just can't get into. That's part of how I got to this point, wanting to instead play random games in the extra catalog, cheaper than buying them directly.
I'm unsure about the must-plays. I may still buy some if I just can't wait. I am pretty good at waiting, though. I've already been doing it, waiting for sales and such. For example: Ratchet & Clank: A Rift Apart, Horizon: Forbidden West, or Elden Ring - haven't played them yet, but if any of those drop into the catalog, I'll feel like I made the right call. If they drop to $20, I may buy. ...then kick myself when they get added to the catalog later. Or die, never having played them because I waited too long.

8-Jan-2023(#218)Yeah I agree as long as we hold off on day-1 buying $60-70 games then Extra/Premium may be worth it. Returnal is one game I was looking to buy for $25-30 so I got some value playing it over PS Extra. I can think of a couple more like Onechanbara Origins and Judgement.
Ive also sort of reduced the amount of cheap games Im buying lately because they are or eventually will be in the service.

9-Jan-2023(#222)@MrBean Remote play kind of sucks. I gave up after it started dropping connections. You can try chiaki to see if you have any better luck.

I've finished multiple games via remote play. It works well enough, just wish it was better. Never lose connection, just performance isn't as good as it should be (Xbox is definitely better).
Very cool, haven't heard of chiaki, I'll give it a go!

Can Chiaki be installed on a PC? I have it on Steam Deck and it's amazing. The actual official remote play does in fact suck. I have it on Ethernet and it lags/choppy.

Looks like you can, I'll probably install it some point soon.

It's a superior Remote Play tool
Kommie
10-Jan-2023(#230)It's just a better Remote Play tool.... The Sony one is laggy. This one is better. Not sure how to explain it better....

10-Jan-2023(#233)@DrizzDrizzDrizz This is Chiaki:
https://git.sr.ht/~thestr4ng3r/chiaki As MrBean has shown it can be hit or miss depending on your setup/luck. If remote play works well for you then just keep using it.

10-Jan-2023(#234)Chiaki seems like it would be cool, but I haven’t been able to get it to work. I can get to the part where you put in the ID and pin and can generate the ID, but, when I put in the pin from my PS5, it says “Something went wrong” on my PS5.

I had to tweek settings to get the sound right on Steam Deck. I'm sure the same thing is true for the Windows app too. Reddit probably has an answer. When I get home I might try it.

Yep, there is some configuration changes ... but sadly, they don't work (appears to be common). Just start poking around, will continue to investigate later and report back, but it seems promising that you can use your PC's hardware acceleration (in theory) to help the stream.

https://www.reddit.com/r/remoteplay/comments/nunyd...I got mine working well with this guide.
the audio/qtaudio_windows.dll file is inside the Chiaki folder
mine is C:\Users\kommie\Downloads\Chiaki-v2.1.0-Windows-x86_64\Audio\
I played a little bit of Steelrising and it was fine, better than the official PS remote play app.
