This is a game of kings. Try to pick something iconic or recognizable on the cover, a grey splotch from CoD Ghost probably won’t be much fun for anyone to guess. If the guess is right I’d recommend a macro shot so people can marvel at the full art work together. You know the drill, help your boys and girls out if they’re struggling. What I’ll do, or anyone can do, is if it’s been a day or two without guesses, post in here asking if someone wants to take a crack at it. If not, feel free to post another image. We aren’t keeping score or anything. If the poster wants it guessed on, they’ll probably be posting hints. Also if someone guessed it and hasn’t posted the next one, again, tag them and see if they want to post an image, if non responsive jump in if you like.

image You got me on this one. I can only assume it's the Japanese cover art. As a boorish American, my knowledge of such things is limited at best. So, I'll take a back seat to guessing and a front seat to learning!
Not gonna lie, @Best1989: I was stumped and cheated to find out the answer. As such, I'm barred from competing this round. But, I will offer a hint to those still trying to figure out this nightmare-of-a-title: I played it back in the day on the and honestly didn't know it got a re-release on the .
I knew it looked familiar, but for some reason the two-platform hint made me lock in on DS and 3DS instead of DS and PSP, where Knights in the Nightmare was home.
@DarkFact Do you want to start a rule that if the winner doesn't post a new image within 24 hours, somebody else can just take their turn? This isn't directed at anyone in particular, some people just aren't as active on here and it can take a while before they catch up and post something. Sometimes we wait a few days, then they finally pop in and say somebody else can take their turn lol. Just seems like it would be a good way to keep the thread moving, since it's slowed down a bit.

Imgur doesn't allow hotlinking like that, right click the image, click copy image link, then paste in between these brackets with no space before and after:

I was going to give it just a bit in case someone surprised me and got it. It's pretty darn obscure admittedly.. you honestly wouldn't even know it was related to the US game in any way based on the cover. Here's a US cover:
I really thought y'all would get that one quickly. Whenever I think I have a hard one, y'all guess it almost immediately, but when I think it's easier, it ends up being too hard lol
image Oh, snap! That's NAM-1975. It's a ton and one o' fun! Though, I didn't recognize it at first 'cause the lady's chest and leg weren't covered up with indelible black marker.
It's widely considered the grandfather of the modern "shoot 'em up" genre and still has compilations and re-imagined re-releases dropping onto modern-day consoles. Shoot the spaceship that flies around at the top for crazy-good bonus points. Now, let's all go watch that one episode of Futurama where Fry saves the Earth with the help of a Rush mixtape and a bottle of Shasta! image
Nobody? I thought this would be a quick one. I can't really show more than that without giving away major information. Here's a clue instead: it released on Switch/PS4/XB1.
This is the worst hint of all-time, but I got a free copy of this game from Game Fan magazine for submitting Sega CD FIFA codes. At least that tells you the rough era.
The googly eyes on the ladder gave it away. That's A Boy and His Blob: Trouble on Blobolonia(Nintendo Entertainment System): a surprisingly fun title that I came late to the party with when I first played the installment. image
It's Advanced Dungeons & Dragons for Intellivision, but that means that my recognition of it was all in my head. There must be something similar I was thinking of. Nice pick.

haha, well done
Legit, one of my earliest video game memories. I was all of ... 3-4 and this game used to scare the holy crap out of me when a snake was coming at you. Not that long ago I watched a YT video of it, haha, how far we've come ...
When I first read @Noid 's post, I took it to mean he didn't know which game. Now I am not so sure. I certainly didn't mean to usurp his turn if he had it.

You give me far too much credit, good sir! I legitimately had no clue; I just happened to pick up on the wonderfully-cheeky clue. The only titles I've played (and really enjoyed) that're licensed out by Wizards of the Coast are Capcom's two arcade beat 'em ups that were ported to the in Japan.
Eternal Ring. I knew it must have ring in the title, I know it's a PS2 game, so I threw the keyword into GTZ search. Voila! Will post a picture tomorrow morning (east coast time). Gotta get some shut eye.
I enjoyed it. It's similar to Diablo III in that it has loot, but like Obsidian's other games it has RPG elemnts - dialog options that can impact quests, the final ending, and/or the ending narration. So, there's replay value and variety. I've played the game several times, using three of the four playable characters, Anjali (the archon) is my favorite. I haven't played the mage yet. You can pick any of the other PCs to be your NPC companion (each character appears at a different point during the story).
The game is story-driven, the writing is solid and well done (in my opinion), the voice acting is good (with a handful of characters that are above average). It's not a triple A game, but it felt polished and complete. The first boss is very difficult, I had to cheese my way with that by exploiting a few things with the scenery.
Anyway, I'd recommend giving it a whirl if you like action-RPG - more RPG Than Diablo III, less RPG than Dragon Age.

Nice, it sounds interesting and up my alley. I remember wanting a ton of big box PC games back in the day but not having the money, the original Dungeon Siege was one of them. Too bad I now have a list of games I want to play that’s a mile long and money to buy them, but not really enough time to play much of anything.
The game won numerous awards, including "Real-Time Strategy Game of the Year" from PC Gamer,[3] "Strategy Game of the Year" from Computer Gaming World,[76] and "Game of the Year" from both Computer Games Strategy Plus and Macworld.[50] Online Game Review named it one of the fifty greatest games ever made.[50] In 2012, [game name] was listed on Time's All-TIME 100 greatest video games list.[82]
In 1998, PC Gamer declared it the 19th-best computer game ever released, and the editors called it "a breath of fresh air" and "a modern classic".[83] In 2003, [game name] was inducted into GameSpot's list of the greatest games of all time
Yep. I didn't know it was by Bungie though! Only other game I know they did before they got big was Oni, but I guess this came in ...after? that's weird
Oh, they made the list in 2005 lol. Okay, I was like there's no way Myth is from 2004 or 2005

Nice! Yeah, coincidently a mac computer lab in middle school was the first time I played a networked PC game against others (and it was glorious)… which was also an early Bungie FPS called Marathon.
If you haven’t played Myth it still holds up today IMO. Story, narration, and gameplay are top notch. You have to think and be very deliberate. You have a set amount of units that you start with in each leg of the story and one false step often spells disaster. You will both passionately love and hate your dwarf units ha ha
That last "hint" was awesome, @Snappy. I love looking at what others feel are some of the best video games of all time. Some I completely agree with, some I totally disagree with, and others leave me scratching my head. But, it's always a fun distraction. Thank you, sir!

I thought that was a cool list too, like a time capsule, but yeah some of the games they chose are ..interesting. California Games was the only one that was a real head scratcher.. though I’ve admittedly never given it a fair shake.
> I've actually literally never heard of this. Thought maybe it was Stinger or Fantasy

It's super-fun and comes highly recommended. Pat Contri did a "Pat the NES Punk" review on it a few years back. Feel free to check it out by clicking on the image below: image
"For two years, your people have struggled against the relentless onslaught of invading forces. With your army reduced to a handful and your artillery depleted, further resistance seems impossible.
But in a hidden underground laboratory, a team of scientists has at least perfected a new kind of fighting machinery: a bionic arm that extends and contracts, providing unheard-of strength and maneuverability. Combined with an arsenal of rapid-fire, armor-piercing, and heat-seeking weaponry, this will put the power of an entire army in the hands of one man... one carefully chosen soldier, who has what it takes to become a new breed of unstoppable commando... a Bionic Commando. And you are that soldier!
Your mission will take you through the heavily-patrolled wilderness surrounding the enemy headquarters, and into the very heart of the fortress itself. Even to the most courageous soldier, it would seem an impossible challenge. But there has never been a soldier like the Bionic Commando!"
This port of a modest arcade shoot 'em up later received an equally-modest sequel on their cash-cow powerhouse multi-video system. Did I mention that this developer-slash-publisher is waaay better known for their 2-D arcade FIGHTERS? They're definitely KING in my book.
