new Thread Description
This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is brand:::PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

They're doing keychains, maps, sticker sheets, mini-CD, manual, with the other releases and pre-orders, I'm sure we'll get a couple things in there like that.

Not sure if it's been said yet but LA Noire will "require" a 14GB download for the physical cart version coming on 11/14.

If using the physical cartridge version of L.A. Noire, the game will require a 14 GB digital download containing required gameplay data as well as general bug fixes and improvements. This file can be downloaded to either the Nintendo Switch console's internal storage or a microSD card (sold separately).

It's getting old to have all these day one patches for most every game but to sell a physical cart that will not function without a "required" download containing "required game data", that's a joke....or fraud.

Someone on another board mentioned the full game download is 16-18GB. How the heck can you sell a cart that basically is a boot disk and call it retail product that costs the same or more than the digital version of the game?

That's what happens when the publisher slams their fist on the table and says "IT'S GOLD, SHIP IT AND PATCH IT LATER", they print out the carts and the devs are like "We literally now have to push out the entire game to fix it."

Consoles gave up the one advantage they had...

Like, that was the reason to play technically downgraded console versions of games also on PC. That it would just work on your hardware. No hardware differences among the consumer base to really have to worry about. Plus devs knew they couldn't patch. So the game GENERALLY shipped out 100% functional.

Ok thanks, and I'm sure he will get back to me soon. I would prefer to own an official US release over asian version, simple as that. Plus PA has not revealed their box art yet and this one looks great. Only reason to keep it is it comes out in November but I have so many other games to play.

Agreed. It's the whole, everyone has internet type of thinking, we can just patch up any problems down the road in this day and age. But that is so far from the original idea it basically puts no difference between a physical release and a digital one say 20 years from now. Neither one will be usable in their current form, especially true of these "required game data" downloads.

Sure, it'll be on a virtual console somewhere or remade on a future system but that doesn't really promote anything more than the throw away world we live in these days. We'll release it on the next console and you can buy it again son, nobody plays that old Switch console anymore they're using the the new Nintendo Vapor.

So, Amazon's added a new Augmented Reality component to its online shopping app, so you can place objects to get a feel for what they'd look like in place. Hoping you can add stacks of modern games onto a shelf, take a pic to share and then dump your cart instead of blowing $450 on crapty games that'll be worth $15 a piece in six months.

ive been looking at amazon pantry to try and see what things I can start getting off of there for the amazon commission. some things are too much higher than wal mart to be reasonable but there several things that are the same price or slightly better if you look at what you're paying per ounce, so some things can def start getting on there. I asked his billness once and he said prime pantry will indeed give the commission so hey why not, and less things to get at the store. dry goods only of course, they don't do frozen I can imagine the dry ice shipments would be more trouble for amazon than it would be worth.

Well since my top 3 shelfs are "mini" my entire PS1 collection is on the 2nd shelf so. . Lunar Complete, Lunar 2 Complete, Thousand Arms, Vagrant Story, Xenogears, Suikoden, Final Fantasy VII, King's Field II, I could go on. .

Which fixture? The 2nd drawer "shelf" holds all my GBA games. The one behind my room's door is some NES. Next to that is shelving for systems. Continuing around, I just redid the shelves behind the closet door, so that second shelf is the PCE shelf. Next to that is the biggest unit, where the second shelf is all my PS2 games.

Ummm I literally have games all over the house so I wouldn't even know what you meant ..... Like which second shelf in which room I don't have a dedicated game room.

This is possible with a smaller mint collection. Each game means that much more to me. I have a shoebox shelf that fits my N64 and SNES games perfectly. I have my psx/3ds/ds/gba on my mini shelves. And I have my currently playing games on a large bookshelf. The rest of the stuff is on that DVD/blue ray style shelf with the mini shelves.

- added brand:::Nintendo Switch and 2 god tier games
- had @kwaza install batteries in most of my brand:::Sega Genesis, brand:::Super Nintendo, and brand:::Sega CD ram cart
- purged games from various systems to help pay for expensive oldies
- added a few decent games to pad my brand:::PlayStation Vita collection
- bought a few new games for brand:::Nintendo 3DS and brand:::PlayStation 4 but mostly focused on retro systems.
- added a couple "gem tier" games like Popful Mail and Lunar 2 Complete pristine mint.

For November and December, I am going to play stuff I already have, and maybe do a end of year purge.

I don't think I need any new games. I havbe Xenoblade 2 preordered for Switch but I haven't even beaten the first one smiley:::wry smile

Looks like a slow start for November. @DefaultGen still hasn't beaten MMX

Well unlike most people here I like or try to like all games and have reasons for most of them being here but I'm pretty sure there's too much here to ever actually bother with.

I haven't started on MMX either BUT it turns out I still have MMX collection on ps2 from @DiamondDave that was in on of my media cabinets. D'oh! Still gotta hook up a ps2 though maybe I'll just set one up on another tv in one of the bedrooms.

I just need to do more stuff.

I have Xenosaga 2 for preorder and I don't ever plan on playing the first game. Can't play every game after all, you just have to chose what you want most. You just can't play every good game out there. But I really dig my Switch and I am hyped for a portable Xenoblade with those beautiful graphics.

I'm pretty organized about my collection. I have an inventory system I can consult and all my games are arranged alphabetically by console. So if you ask me for a specific game, odds are I'll be able to find it pretty quickly.

Second shelf?

Only shelf though, can probably name about 9/10 (there's probably 30)

I'm replaying Xenosaga now, and it's better than I remember it. I guess I can appreciate it more now that I'm older / not depressed. It's a very good game. The one thing I never forgot about it was it has my favorite RPG ending of all time.

I couldn't tell you what all I have on a particular shelf, but I could tell you all about my HAL games. smiley:::smile

(Also had a nice chat with a co-worker about pinball the other day. The HAL brand:::Game Boy pinball games hold up amazingly well today.)

I'm waiting for price drops on Ys VIII and Uncharted Lost Legacy. In the mean time I've been watching films I should have watched a long time ago and rewatching some great ones that I haven't seen in years.

As for the shelf topic all my games, movies and anime are shelved in alphabetical order. There are a few stragglers in a want to sell pile, but that's about it.

6% eBay bucks when I spend at least $25? Try harder eBay.

Edit: Was back reading shmups and no wonder we have that disclaimer on the gscart page....

"Then I think we identified the issue. Providing such amplified input is against SCART standard but somehow I have a feeling that you're not going to change anything."

"we've done our due diligence by providing an audio attenuation switch that scales down the audio levels by a factor of 10. given that no other device has trouble handling this, the rest is up to you. "

I'm in Tampa half a week for a wedding. I'll report back with how bad their retro game stores are. One has an Atari sign on Google Maps so it can't be too bad.

I'm expecting double eBay minimum. Hopefully you manage to find some ~$15 games for $70, because it's Florida and I've seen that kind of thing here in Kansas where there is much less money.

If they made one of my favorite games ever like Robotron, OutRun, or Race Drivin' I might get one like an idiot. Too pricey to make a little emulator arcade though.

I had a VB but got rid of it. Crap burned my eyes. Wish they re-released the games on Switch or somewhere else.

I have everything he has for offer except 3d tetris which I heard is awful due to the wireframe graphics. I'll stick with Panic Bomber.

I might get one anyways. These will be pretty rare, the only real fears I have are who tf would fix it if it broke and how playable would that actually be since you have to almost have your hand in front of the screen to play. I have larger than normal hands so I worry about even being able to control it without feeling totally clumsy.

I still think they're pretty awesome though. Despite my worries.

So it seems the Akura box only displays at 16:9. Throw it awaaaaaay. @DefaultGen

Fortunately, I can get it to do 4:3 with a DVDO. I was having an aneurysm for a bit there.

But I already sent you the only movies I have you would ever want lol. Good luck on your sale though I've heard good things about these games. Except what type of game it is, is it a straight up rpg or something else?

If you want it I'll just send it to you dude.

It's a traditional JRPG.

Those look ultra cool. I might have to jump on it for $90. Currently 82 left for the cheaper price. I'll keep an eye on it, thanks.

No I was mostly joking 😉 I think I mentioned to you. I still haven't set up either PS3 I have anyways. Plus one has that weird disc alignment problem I believe. I haven't even tried the other one yet but I'm sure it's fine.

I was mostly just curious about the game though. I'd rather have you get money for it anyways.
