Thread Description This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.
We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates. There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room. I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them. There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.
Old Topic Description
GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is . I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).
No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.
- WTTF/WTB/LF - What you think is awesome game/series/whatever - Potential games you have up for trade - Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever - Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

ya and it can do some gamecube and some wii too, as well as some dreamcast, and psp and DS emu on it is great. the shield that is. its also a beast kodi box and excellent streaming box in general. and.. if you have GTX family video card you can use NVidia gamestream to stream your steam games from your computer to your tv and play them on your tv. its pretty sweet. and..if you are using the pcsx2 emu on your pc, you can add those games to steam and they work through that method to play on your tv as well. that should work with any emu actually.
at 170 the regular model is a better deal if you are getting the remote and controller, even at only 16gb over 500, as you can get a 1tb so cheap now you would essentially have a 1tb+ shield for less than the 500 gig shield.
Holy guacamole! What's really impressive is that this vintage piece of video game history isn't from the usual line-up of high-dollar suspects like Nintendo or SNK. Also, for us dim Yanks, I dumbed down the link to the eBay auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/itm/322853882595
I created a USPS case for my missing packages last night and they all arrived today. Where the hell were you keeping them!? Was it just a test to see if I'm actually keeping track of whether all my mail arrives?
Seems like the $90 Centipede pledge is all bought up. Which is weird because it was steadily going down a few a day and had 70 left. I bet some ebay reseller bought like 50 of em for resale. Which is what I'd be doing if I could sell on Ebay, I mean why not. I'm glad I didn't wait to get one for myself.
I don't think anyone thinks tiny Raspberry Pi MAME cabinets are going to be worth anything on the secondary market. Not that they aren't cool, but the collectible old Coleco tabletop games aren't even worth $100 a piece.

I know they aren't cheap but it doesn't surprise me at all that people are buying them.
I'll probably get one when they are retail anyways or I might get the tempest one instead unless they have another insane one right after these two. But like I said I definitely want one of them. I'll have more money later anyways. Otherwise I might have got in while they were 90.
But these first two are such great choices I'm wondering what 90s games they could've talking about? Especially if Atari is the only licenses they can end up producing.
> Why the fudge are master system controllers so expensive now? Cheapest I see are 15-20
You wanna talk expensive controllers? You ain't lived 'til you've priced out a Controller -- SNK Neo Geo Home Joystick(Neo Geo AES (home)). Do a little window shopping for that and then get back to me!

I dunno but I hope they can get some partnerships except just Atari. Did they really say they are trying to get some 90s arcades? That would be f'n awesome. Bc those were the best days for the arcades. I bought Centipede because it's a good game and I like really cool novel stuff like this. I will probably buy other games from them. This is as close as I will get to owning an actual arcade game. I think it would look pretty cool to have 4 or 5 of these beside eachother on a shelf.

I agree, these are beautiful playable works of art. Again they aren't cheap but considering how much we might spend everytime a new ps4 or Xbox one comes out, at least it's something different.
It said in one of their posts they had planned on games from different decades. This keeps popping up on my Facebook feed all the time, so that's why I knew about Tempest right when they announced it in some article. But I guessed Tempest before anyways since it seemed like a no brainer.
I am kinda glad they aren't leaking every game right away, it would make it harder to sell the older games with simpler graphics if people knew street fighter 2 was coming out for instance, these games need a chance to stand on there own for a little first.
There are lots of Atari arcade games but it's hard to pick a bunch that would be better than anything released by anyone else. I just don't know what would be easily playable on such a small cabinet.
> Witcher III GotY is on sale for $20 on gog...thinking about it, and maybe get rid
> of the PS4 version?
This really is a no brainer like DD said. If you've got a pc capable of better graphics than the ps4 then go for it. If not..I'd stick to ps4 for the optimization aspect this is a demanding game but if your pc can handle then go for it ; ) 20 for this is amazing. Too get what was already amazing plus those expansions that are the size of full games in themselves for that is a crazy deal. Get it and put everything else away and prepare yourself by watching those youtube things I'm always talking about that prime you on the lore and older games.
Edit...those being Shoddycast's lore series and Treesicle's the story you never knew about witcher
The amazing care and dedication and love poured into this game and it's world and characters is something you can feel in every moment and every word. Every sidequest is thought out, a world of little black and white and many shades of grey. You'll meet many amazing people and undertake many quests and play a lot of gwent as you search for Ciri as she is pursued by the wild hunt. You'll agonize over whether to choose yennefer or triss, geralts old love or the one who seems to love him more.
This game makes you so aware after finishing all it has to offer that every other game is so substandard in comparison. You'll judge other devs by their lack of passion and care compared to the holy prophets CDPR.
Praise be to their majesty forever.
They recently released a witcher 10th anniversary thank you to fans video. It features the characters seemingly a short-ish while after the end having a little reunion of sorts. Then you realize geralt is talking to you... it's absolutely tear inducing. Spend 200+ hours (or more) with these characters and in this world and try not to cry at this video..it's impossible. My throat tightens even writing this. I will hurt for toussaint forever.. I hope whatever heaven is its a little bit like that.

> Playing Mario Kart 8 on a PS Vita with a GameCube controller?

Plus the GC controller is mirrored, the Vita isn't mentioned in the list of supported systems, he's pushing buttons in a non-standard game shot... this whole thing seems like an excercize in what not to do...

wow sick, the ps4 version of the original came with a crap ton of stuff in it, looks like you get the digi versions of some of that plus more!
oh and on the menu before you hit start game, where geralt is sitting at the campfire on the title screen, go to options and activate alternate movement type. its less floaty and much better especially in indoor places

I also want to say I'm sorry for your loss. But words can do little to ease your pain sir. I'm pretty sad most of the time so I know that there are no right words to say to someone who is suffering something like this.
Just try and find happy thoughts and memories, even though that can sometimes make it harder it can also bring you happiness every time you think about your loved one. It takes time but it does work. I've done it too many times. Hugs sir ❤️
My friend asked me what NES he should get (he already has cartridges). So I explained the toaster, toploader, AVS, and Nt Mini to him and basically recommended the AVS. He deliberated for a day then said "Nah I'm just going to get this Gamerz Tek thing, I bought a $30 Genesis that's just like it".
I know it can be very tv dependant but any OSSC users care to share your and settings? I have looking amazing over scart, but am still trying to sort the other two consoles. Genesis is hooked up with hdretrovision component cable and dc is vga via Behar Bros Hanzo.
Started Witcher III last night. Its quite a bit of information to take in, but so far its interesting. The controls takes a bit getting used to as I'm not a PC gamer at all besides the Counter Strike days. Prob easier with keyboard and mouse than a controller though.
> Can the Atari 2600 be modded past composite video to include, say, S-Video and
> component video?
There's an expensive RGB mod. You can S-Video mod it too but I didn't look into it much. It's not like there are sprites with colors that bleed together. Composite is simple and cheap. I'm just waiting for some form of fancy FPGA 2600 or cart adapter for one of Kevtris' consoles.

The only reason I'd say don't get Tekken 7 lol so you can focus here. Hope you don't need sleep.
It begins... muahahhaa
I can't see this being easier on keyboard mouse but maybe.. I'd use a ds4 but that's just because I played on PS4.
It's true this is far and away the best one and it will he hard to play the old ones they are rough in comparison. Especially 1. There is a mod for PC that adds a prologue for witcher 1 as a cinema,. But I'd still recommend the lore series from shoddycast and treesicle. In an hour those can have you as versed as possible without playing them. And playing them first could make you less excited about playing three because of the roughness. They are amazing in their own right..they gave a style and grit many game lack. I need to finish them myself but they are hard to play knowing the greatness of three.
Did you try that alternate movement style ? It helps it's not as floaty. Stick with the combat. Don't try and apply things you know from other games like dragon age or whatever that "seem" similar.. gotta do this one for what it is but once you do you are killing left and right. Trust the Dodge and don't feel like you have to always roll like dark souls, some things need the roll, and you will come to know with time. But the slight Dodge works alot especially with humans and it keeps you close for counter attacks. It doesn't look like he moves much but he doesn't have to. He's Geralt.
Lunar sold me his WIII complete edition so I can play it on my PS4 on my big beautiful super bright 4K TV. I have put in about 30 hours to the game and loved it. Now it's time to fully enjoy the rest + the xpacs!
Did you have the standard before? I think I've read that the PS4 will treat them as different saves you may have to start over. It's worth it though. The dlc for this game is bigger than many whole games and every bit as good or better than the main game.
Also there are some decisions you have to make if you want the best ending. I won't spoil of course but just lemme know if you wanna know. Can always YouTube it if you don't get it I suppose but I wanted it myself. Especially after all those hours.
Witcher 1 is the only one I've played I want to play 3.It's probably amazing but people overhype boring open world games like Fallout 3 and Skyrim so it's hard to take public opinion seriously on AAA games. Just haven't drummed up motivation.
After a year of thousands of irrelevant results in my saved searches every single day I found this for a couple bucks. WW platinum hits is one of the rarest Xbox releases, maybe the rarest PH game. 50 Cent and GTA Double Pack PH are next on my radar.
Anyone here happen to have spare PS2 slims or lasers for a slim PS2? Despite all efforts to keep ours alive the dvd-reading laser has bit the bullet in mine. Wouldn't mind getting a north American BC PS3, but with the Japanese one, I don't really wanna keep 2 separate PS3 systems hooked up. I've been trying to get into a lot more on PS2 but before the laser had been sluggish, resulting in some dvd games not reading at all or too much stuttering like it's trying to buffer a video. Just hoping to replace it or the whole system relatively cheaply. I don't have space for a fat PS2, either.
I started Mega Manx. The stages are cakewalks and I can't find a single robot master I can beat with the X buster, lol. This whole order stuff is the one annoying thing about MM games. Just give me the stages in the order I'm supposed to do it!
From there, you just keep finding weaknesses. Might help for you to sniff out the body and weapon upgrades as they curve the difficulty down significantly; a charged Chameleon Sting grants 10-15 seconds of invulnerability, for instance. Getting the arm upgrade is obnoxious regardless and will probably piss you off, but the chest cuts damage in half.
Each stage has a permanent health increase to find, and half the stages have E-tanks (rechargeable!) you can pick up. Hints... you'll find the body upgrade by looking high in Sting Chameleon's stage, and Spark Mandril wouldn't fare well in the Ice Age.
To be fair, I consider myself "okay" at the game and it still takes me like, an hour and fifteen, twenty minutes to clear after resets on the last form of the last boss. CalebHart42's just a beast (or whoever managed to claw the speed run trophy from him)

later on you are going to meet a lot of characters its not going to tell you much about, watch them when you get a chance while you are eating or something. it will give you some background on the realms and politics, the history of geralt with yennefer and triss, who ciri is and her relationship to geralt/yen/triss, why the state of politics is the way it is, etc.
I am usually all about playing in sequential but with those vids and history you don't have to here, I didn't and its still so far and away my all time #1 it cant see anything in the rear view, not even P5 or FF7. you can treat the others like prequels one day if you get around to playing them lol.
there are about 4 key decisions you have to make to get the best ending, so if you care about that holler or look it up, and you can reach the crisis point in the triss relationship before you even spend any time with yennefer. those are two things I wish I'd known, thankfully I still got the ending.
>> (secure)">AO GTA:SA. Good weekend for knocking out Xbox variants I want cheap👌
> lol the disc still has an M rating, you sure you weren't scammed.
The AO rating is just a sticker placed over existing stock of GTA:SA. It's hard to find because most stores simply pulled the game, and other stores put the sticker on the shrink wrap. Only a few stores like FYE sold the AO game used. It would be easy to fake, like SMS bar code stickers, but it's not like it's worth anything and I'm confident this one's real
Is anyone else doing, or has done, the X playthrough? I finished the robot masters, got most if not all of the heart containers and suit upgrades, and now am working on getting the e-tanks and hadooooooken. Man, so much fun. I have about 1:30 clocked in on the snes classic clock, it's going by to fast, but makes for a great lunch break game -15 to 20 minutes of play when I can.
> I might be having a sale to help with funeral costs. I'm on the fence about it.
Funerals are bullcrap. My grandma definitely got preyed upon and was stubborn when we tried to reign in the many $1000s our family spent on my grandfather's funeral. It feels so similar to the wedding industry, but you get no time to think or plan through emotional spending.
> I beat 4 or 5 masters. I got a bunch of life upgrades. The only suit upgrade I have
> is dash. I'm worried I'm missing them.
Like I said, Sting Chameleon's got the body upgrade, look for places you can get super high early on in the stage. Before you can find the gun upgrade (for charging shots) you need the helmet upgrade, and you'll find that with some heavy exploration of Storm Eagle's stage. There's a lot to find in that level, high and low, left and... well mostly immediately high left, high early, low middle.
Sting Chameleon is by far the hardest boss without upgrades. I got to all the bosses except Boomer Kuwanger with just dash and beat 4 of them, I'm gonna go back and hunt for body upgrades when I continue.
Yeah I left the snesc at home this weekend (was playing some SoM over the weekend), but the save state and ability to take screenshots of the passwords with my phone really encourage me to get through the game without needing to partition a full playthrough quantity of time.
Ohhh I thought you were talking on the video port side of things, ok I will just plug into the back of my tv and let you know then, I think they are pretty good though as I use another of the same brand for my og xbox and those plug in fine.

GameStop has suspended its PowerPass program, which offers customers six months of unlimited access to used games. The retail chain told employees yesterday to pull down all signage involving the program and store it in their backrooms, according to two GameStop staff.
"For those guests who have already purchased the service, we will allow them to bring the pass, and video game they have checked-out, back to receive a full refund," said the spokesperson. "In addition, we will allow them to pick out any Pre-Owned game for free."
So far it seems the only lackluster Game of the Month was Monster in My Pocket. Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania and MMX, are they more interesting because they are awesome games or is it also because they are more accessible?
I just finished "RGB308 :: RGB and Component Switchers: gscartsw, Hydra, Extron, and more - MY LIFE IN GAMING" on YouTube here and I'm pretty sure it's the closest I'll ever come to watching a video of this thread.
I am surprised to hear most of you think that MMX is difficult; maybe I just played it so much as a kid that it's like riding a bike, but I think I've died twice so far, and have yet to not be able to beat a maverick or have to restart/continue.
Are you guys remapping your button layout? I highly recommend mapping dash to a trigger so you can hold charge shot with Y and jump with B independently from dashing.
Also, when fighting the mavericks a charge shot will often do the same damage as a single shot, so spamming regular shots will get a lot of damage off the boss quicker than trying to charge shots and hit the bosses less frequently. When fighting the bosses I often feel like I am more trying to dodge than do damage and spamming regular shots gets the job done while I am dashing around avoiding damage.
It's not killing me once I figure out what weapon the bosses are weak to, but going against a lot of these guys with just the X Buster which does a whopping 1 damage (plus the boss gets like 2 seconds of invincibility frames!) is ridiculous. I only sat down to play it for a couple hours so far.
I haven't had a lot of time to start MMX yet. I have been juggling trying to get my retro setup complete (all I need now is a few Scart cables to daisy chain my Scart Switch). Also I have been playing my Switch a lot since Doom and Rocket League came out. I think I am pretty far in Doom, so once I finish that up I will start MMX via SNESC so I can use save states. Any advise for someone who has never played it?
The funeral was today. More people than I thought showed up. Some of my old friends, friends of the family, even old classmates. In fact in a picture collage I made there were some pictures of my step-dad with other people back in school. Those people all ended up being there through general word of mouth (I didn't advertise) and I gave the pictures to each other old person that was in them with him. They were very thankful. You pretty much know everyone else where I live, in fact the funeral director baled hay with my step-dad back in the 60s when they were kiddos.
Thank you so much to everyone in the thread for your nice words and support. I'm moving on and this is the last I will post about it.
It was less than I traded for it here with @Wheels617 who was nice enough to just give me the rate Beharbros sells them for when available. So the price surprised me. If I were greedy I'd have bought it myself and eBayed it but screw that. I hope it arrives quickly and you enjoy it.
> I really need to fit skies of arcadia in somewhere soon, so many games to play, its
> a great problem to have really but damn lol
Yeah I that problem. I'm having a blast playing through all the wonderful old games I've bought since I've been here and started collecting old games I've sold. Doubly so now that I have my upscalers all set up on a cpl different TVs. I beat Skies on my 26" with composite. That pic is of the last dungeon on my 65" oled. Still looks super sharp even on a large TV.
@PlayYing Cheapest way is to buy GameShark Cheats 'n Codes Volume 1 (Dreamcast) on ebay. Think I bought mine for $20 and that might have even been new. Anyways it acts as a bootloader, so you power up your and then it will tell you to eject the disk and put in the disk you want to play. Bam, region-free.
> If at all possible , what would I need to play import Dreamcast games on my US Dreamcast?
Was searching the GTZ archive to see if I could find out what I used to sell SMB/DH for out of curiosity since I thought it was $0.50. Stumbled upon my biggest trade ever. Good old 2007... 339 unique NES games in one trade and a toploader to boot. Thanks dragonwarriorfan!

>> Deals like these are hard to come by these days
> What is a m82? And is it really worth all those NES games? Those NES games would
> have to be worth well over $1000 wouldn't they?
It's an NES store demo unit that holds 12 cartridges. It's pretty sweet. It was worth $1000-2000 back then and I think is worth around $2500 now. It was a killer deal either way for me getting all those games. Luckily I like the M8 Demo unit more, so I wasn't too hesitant to give up the M82. I don't have an M8, but that's the one I'd get if I wanted a demo thingy.
I was browsing Ebay newly listed one day and got it for $500 BIN right when it was listed. Super lucky purchase on my part.
This is closest to my opinion also. I can give my thoughts on them all, though.
XBox: They started it off best, and were the first to actually start doing sales on the consoles. But long term, I feel they're the least stable for keeping up the console marketplace. Windows is the only place I see it remaining, but that falls more to PC. PSN: This would be my pick if I had to pick one. There are good sales with some regularity, but digital retail games don't usually keep up with price drops at retail. Backward compatibility is also lacking compared to MS. eShop: Ugh, Nintendo, get with the times! Games are still linked to the system, not the account. Transfers even are not capable of moving all games over if it's been removed from the shop. (I have a couple of games on my DSi that could not move to the 3DS.) Sales are the weakest of all. Add to this the lack of native storage coupled with having to rebuy SMB1 yet AGAIN on the umpteenth system, and we've got a system in need of updating. PC: Sales galore! It's so easy to get a backlog here. But there are also so many games that trying to find the good ones can be quite hard. Plus, here is the issue of needing to know system specs, making hardware updates more essential. I'd like to be able to see a game and be able to buy it. (My first computer not being able to play UNO was a telling sign.)
@Lunar I LOVE it! Also, if I HAD to vote for what digital media. It's pretty easy for me since gog.com is about the only thing I'm willing to go digital so it's PC/gog.com. The thing about me is I like to play on original hardware and controller. So playing a point n click game on gog.com for $3 still feels the same because you are using a mouse. And the only way to play PC games legit is I'd have to have 3 different PCs and even search out old CRT PC Monitors. F dat.
I still love Xboxlive I even search exclusively with Bing, but like @sharif said physical media is best at least whenever possible.
But I do appreciate Nintendo and Sony having digital content available too. If I had the Internet at home I might do something about the cool digital games available on Eshop 😊 And I wouldn't mind some more ps1 classics on a portable system.
Plus I still want a Switch, Wii U and a PS4 eventually (the ps4 I really only want for what I believe to be the best virtual reality at home so far, something I've been wanting to see since the early 90s) so all those systems have digital content available. Why not?
Any interest in a NES top loader + MM2 box/no manual? I bought this thinking it had the dogbone, but since its just the OG NES controller I'm OK with selling this now and re-buying later. I'd be looking for $110 shipped.
crap I'm having trouble with my vita memory card now. Read errors keep coming up. And it's an official 32gb too. Guess I will format it and hope it helps. if not then I have to buy a $35 8gb card. Hopefully it's just the card and not the Vita. I still have a few good games to finish on the Vita!!
Does the humble store act weird for anyone else? When I click the on sale section it just says over and over loading more great games and it grays and comes back over and over and I can't change pages.
> Am i only one that still prefer playing old school tv with original hookups rather
> than pretty graphic with all that extra expensive junk? No offense
I actually have a great gaming PC but still rather eshop because I can actually finish games due to the portability of my Switch. Last night I sat down in my office and played Doom on my TV then when my wife wanted me to come in the living room with her while she watched her tv show, I just picked up the Switch and sat on the couch and kept going.
I would have said I was fine on original setups up until very recently. It started when I bought some hdretrovision component cables in a dark alley. I don't know about the snes, but these things make genesis look like 24k gold on either crt or lcd. The composite encoder is such crap on that system and I never realized. That was the gateway though and now I am mainlining ossc and scart like the rgb junkie I have become. @Gypsy has assured me that dvdo is a non-addictive alternative, so that will probably be my next stumble. A sad sad tale of falling from grace.
