new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

I'm probably the biggest KH fan here. But I'll believe it when I see it for a 2017 release. 2.8 is so good in the meantime.. if anyone has 2.5 collectors edition (the one with the big box) hit me up.

Well that's the thing one of them has that black screen thing I think it's an older model so even if it was slim (I honestly don't know the difference not the biggest PS3 fan here) and of course the other one hasn't been tested yet and I think it's fat too but I really don't know. I would need to look through all my stuff and hope I could even figure out what hookups go with it. I've had one just sitting on the coffee table with all 3 generations of xboxes two of which aren't even being played.

I guess I need to start putting this stuff away if I'm not going to use it. I don't think either of these is a model you want but I could check the serial numbers later. I think the one with the black screen is maybe an easy fix according to the internet. Something about setting the tray back one click. It did play GTAV a couple times but literally wouldn't play anything else. Watch if I dig it out it'll probably work just fine lol. 😉

no. It's alright though I'll wait for the standard do go down in price and buy it cheap. I still have to beat TWIII and HZD anyway. No hurry to purchase a new game. Still downsizing and playing some backlog.

I snapped 15 pictures for someone over at NA of my SNES games and he said "Sorry I was looking for ones in better condition". I found one. I found one even more ridiculous than me. I said if I had SOM more mint than the one I had I'd be asking $250.

laughing out loud they are out there!

Speaking of SNES, has anyone noticed a downward trend for SNES carts? I started seeing Earthbound for $130, mint label and everything. Some other instances are less mild, like $35 TMNT IV or $30ish SCIV

Well after firing it up again Mana Khemia 2 has me all image

It's the damn alchemy. I can't help but get everything I can to 100% rating synthesis. I'm going to end up spending way more time on this game than I should.

The still images, character models etc... are nice enough but man the dungeon graphics are pretty bad at some spots.

Haha yes indeed. The only other way is to buy brand new yourself and keep the plastic on the box. Or wait for that ONE copy every 2 years that is 99.8% perfect and pay %250 markup.

Maybe the SNES classic has done to other people what it has done for me.

Didn't know you had anything that could be in better condition! That must be why you're getting rid of it though.

Haha no it's about space. SNES classic is why I'm selling my tiny little SNES collection. A boxed snes takes up a lot of space.

Nex Machina, Double Dragon IV, and both versions of Claire. All well over retail, as the lowest price of any of them was $54.99 (plus $3.99 shipping). Of course, that's also before Amazon's cut. I'm still ahead either way, so...

@BleedingViolet Just the aforementioned Claire on Vita. Still have quite a few left that I'm also willing to do deals on here with, too...

Hmm... I'm gonna have to dig on Amazon; I don't see a Vita listing there. That said, when I pen another deal, if I also have the surplus cash, I may not be averse to taking it off your hands also...

Yeah I think it went down like to $80-100 when it was released digitally.

FFXV for $15.99. I saw it on azon for $22 and was thinking maybe. I wasn't going to buy this game at full price. But for $17? I'll give it a try.

They're prob gonna come out with a Definitive Edition with DLC, I've seen the Deluxe Edition go on sale for $35 some.

Seems to be a bit back up at $110 now. From what I remember of previous digital releases there is usually a pretty good dip as the market gets flooded but eventually the price goes back up. Valkyrie Profile I know was way down for awhile, like doable for $50-60 CIB.

true but I don't need all dat. Just the basic edition for me. Get to experience the base game for cheap, move on to the next big game.

So, high score game of the month, I think the votes are tied. I will invoke my tiebreaker and go with Mr. Driller!

Sorry DG, racing games are boring. Even Daytona USA is like a 10 minute game at most.

Yea, I thought it's a decent price. Not sure why no bites. I would have jumped on it.

I remember not long ago someone was valuing it at $175, because that's how much they paid wry smile

Unless there is some confirmed news about a restock, I don't know why it's not flying off the Dashey shelf.

If it was cib it would be a fine price. I know I only want one complete because I know that even if and when they start making them again they will be in short supply. So the ONE I actually get will be probably the only one I ever will get. And I'd want it preferably new and definitely cib.

I also highly doubt the new ones will be 60 msrp anymore. So it's not a bad price I just think people are super greedy here. Even if it's worth 150 in the wild they will want it for 50 probably. AND act like you're a jerk for not giving it to them for free in the first place lol.

I'm exaggerating but maybe don't worry about these people's opinions. They really only care about their own opinions why should you care about theirs?

Yes but again that's just what I want. Some people don't even want that and STILL want your stuff for free. I'd list it locally for the same price and see how fast it goes. People just "expect" you to do them a favor. I meant to plus your sales thread. Although now everyone's going to know it's me who plussed it lol. But who cares? Screw those haters! 😉

I think the jump from crap 3D to good 3D is a bigger jump than from good 2D to crap 3D.

That's one of the most fun DC games ever! At least in English it is for me 😉

And the Dreamcast literally had some of the most fun games of all time. Such a cool little arcade party system!!!

Yeah, I have played through the English version a couple of times co-op. (I have two DC keyboards.) If I got it, this would probably end up as a shelf sitter, but you never know. I do plan to get my DC out for Mr. Driller.

Lol only if the votes were already counted I'm leaning towards outrun myself. And I think @PlayYing was it? Already voted for outrun too. But I'm not sold on either one since it's hard to agree to a point challenge when I've never even played either game.

Actually I used to play it co op with one of my exes and maybe her sisters too. I know my ex used to whoop my butt in that game because her typing skills are way higher than mine lol. But still so much fun two players.

Is it just me or was that game pretty buggy? There was a certain part on the Boat level about after the third enemy I'd soft lock about 70% of the time.
