new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

Jurassic_Shift gets: $300
tarusse1 gets: Panzer Dragoon Saga

Also if memory serves correct, this may have been the pal release.

ESPN NBA 2Night 2002, Ultimate Beach Soccer, Mike Tyson Heavyweight Boxing, Furious Karting, Battle Engine Aquilla, Auto Modellista. All pretty easy to find NIB right now, but they're all uncommon, at least in Xbox terms. I doubt any of them will ever be worth much because, you know, Xbox.

Also I found this Youtube video that seems to be celebrating that KoF14 is exactly the fudging same as KoF13.

That video is over two years old. The graphics and animations were modified and overhauled since then.

Of course there's going to be similar moves between the two games. They based XIV's early animations on the graphics from XIII. Street Fighter IV and V recycled stuff from the sprite based games too.

You are probably not wrong and honestly that will help me in the long run if they stay cheap. However you never know, that generation is the next one up in the "nostalgia collecting" we have been seeing after we get through the N64/PS1 love.

I have a couple of those titles, now I am going to look for the rest. Maybe not NIB, but definitely CIB and in good shape. Thank you!

Ya everything was someones first system, so at some point they will reach the age where that stuff is nostalgic, as odd as that sounds for ps2/xbox/gamecube to be nostalgic/retro it will be for someone at some point. on a similar note now is a great time to be picking up ps3/360 needs, the stuff is cheeeeeap

You're telling me TRON: Evolution Collector's Edition isn't going to be a rare gem of every kid's childhood that they're looking to recapture when they're in their 30s?

that too, and ps3 being blu ray also there will be more of them in decent condition in the future, ps1 and 2 era discs are sought after in good condition because in some cases there aren't a lot of fantastic ones, it would drive me crazy to see how people treated game discs and how they would come back to the hastings i worked at as rentals, its like they tried to see how bad they could mess it up.

there aren't as many really rares as far as i know from last gen either as previous ones. under defeat, afrika, class of heroes 2g?

I'm not here to defend The King of Fighters series. My first reason is I already have three SNK fighting series I prefer -- Fatal Fury, The Last Blade, and Samurai Shodown -- and my second reason is I know the series definitely has its fair share of foibles, such as everytime it's tried to move into the third dimension. But, for what it's worth, I did have fun with 2001. I especially liked the character who was heavily inspired by the film Akira. smile

And even Class of Heroes 2G got another print run after it shot up to $200-ish.

You'd be surprised how many crap up blu-rays I've seen. The coating helps, but it doesn't work miracles.

Yeah that character got retconned out of the series and current SNK doesn't even acknowledge him. He was scrubbed out of all the unlockable artwork in XIV.

Good riddance.

Graphics are puke, music is audio diarrhea out of a buffalo's ass, broken buggy gameplay, striker system still broken etc...

K9999 does look cool though.

Keep in mind I say all this as a pretty big SNK/KOF fan. I like 02 even, so it's not that I hate Eolith, I just hate crapty broken games.

I'm erect.

@tonymack21 that's fair. Usually it's going to be some big damage all at once, not just minor accumulation that you can get with cds/dvds.

The PS2 will be 18 this year and the Xbox/GC will be 17. Give it a couple more years and you will have a lot of mid-late 20 somethings feeling the pull of nostalgia. wink

Or the eenternet

I guess I could get on a computer at the library. What would that help for though?

I don't get why that would be a trigger for me. But maybe I'm too tired to understand stuff today.

I totally missed my afternoon nap today. And I think I needed it.

If they let you download to an external device you could get an emulator onto something. PSP and DS should have PCE emu options.

This sounds good except I'm horrible with all technology. I don't just pretend to be old school I'm like a caveman trying to make Fire while you guys are downloading everything you need with no problems.

Basically you should pretend I have no idea What you just said or How I would actually do that (because I basically have no idea what you just said OR how I would do that.)

That's only PART of why I prefer actually physical games over digital.

I'd buy I psp memory stick with that game on it if someone had it though. I've been playing only on my phone or psp this month anyways.
