new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

It's yours. :)

I have a craving for more City Hunter now. It would be nice if Discotek was able to pick this stuff up. I'll be able to barely stomach getting the first two series at current price points (still more than I'd like), but series 3 is absurd and I don't even see city hunter 91 available to purchase anywhere on the internet.

How did you come up with these pairings? Kinda shady if you ask me.

Who would even pick Bubble Bobble against Contra? It's like you wanted it to lose.

And probably the closest battle would be Zelda 2 vs Mega Man 2 I've always wanted to own Mega Man 2 and Zelda 2 is my second favorite Zelda all time.

Contra FUDGING rules. It defined that genre and was better than many that came after it. Bubble Bobble is great too. I think I generally picked all awesome games. The only ones I don't care about are Dragon Warrior III and FF but I wanted to include some RPGs because they were a big part of that era too.

Dragon warrior 3 (but I wanted to say smb 3)
Zelda 2
Super Mario 2
Ninja Gaiden (although I would rather play contra right now between the two)

I just played Ninja Gaiden Shadow pixel perfect full screen using a Super Game Boy 2 by zooming and scaling.

More memories coming back, thinking about some of these pairings.

Or we can take of NES Region winner and have it vote against the next region winner?

Lizard is on sale today. The first 100 sold are "LEs". The real limited run games: NES homebrew!

This is just some nonsense I cooked up. Probably best to keep it separate from the gotm or we'd just end up playing Mario 3. Great game but kinda pointless for gotm.

ah ok I see lol. I wasn't thinking necessarily it was tied to gotm but that we would do Snes next and then so on and put the champions in the finals or something

I've beaten Batman, a couple years ago, difficult but not impossible. I played some galactic attack last night... I think that game's harder than batman nes :P

I played through Batman last year. I bet beating Batman on limited continues would be just as hard as Galactic Attack. Joker's a bastard. Even the platforming tower before Joker is a bastard.

No lol. It's March Madness! I think @Gypsy was just adding something fun to the thread since we are all so adamant about which games are the best. I could be wrong of course hell, I probably am 😉

This looks pretty cool!

I think it's the new hotness 😉

I still need to get that snk snes fighting game that came out last year however I've been lagging it!

@ErickRPG did you ever end up buying that centipede mini arcade game? If so how do you like it? Is it worth it? How are the controls?
