Means the iPad is locked and the only legitimate way to bypass the lock is to log-in on the original account the iPad was registered to.

It means it's a giant brick that you can't do anything with other than use it for parts. There is no salvaging it.

I wouldn't recommend buying, If you're selling it this way, clearly you are not the original owner and that is shady. Go to an Apple Store or get the original owner to unlock it, then people will send offers for that $50. :)

Not necessarily true. I bought an Apple Watch on ebay and the seller honestly didn't know they get locked to the Apple ID. He resells things and it boots to the startup screen so he assumed it was good...a few steps past that you get stuck. He refunded me and paid shipping back, etc.. Not all locked devices are stolen, and not all sellers are dishonest. smile

True. I just know from personal experience to just move on from these kinds of deals. I bought an iPhone 6S from a Facebook yard sale group. I used for it a week, no issues whatsoever. But it couldn't get unlocked, so I resold it. A week later, he claims the device appears as stolen. It took a while to sort it out -- and thankfully it was just a billing error on the original owner's part -- but it goes to show how things can go bad awfully quick.

I got a locked watch as well. The seller was able to reset it from their end, and bam it worked.
