What do you folks use for deodorant or anti persperant? I used Old Spice Fresh deodorant for years, but a few months ago it no longer worked to keep my armpits from smelling. I switched to Dove Men's Fresh deodorant, and it worked for a few months, but my armpits now get moist and begin stinking halfway through the day.

What does everybody use to keep your armpits dry and less stinky? Whatever you use, how well does it work? Thanks.

This is a simple thing, but have you made sure you are using a deodorant AND antiperspirant? You can get deodorant only without realizing it and it is just a scent - does nothing to stop the sweating and moisture.

for some reason it seems like more and more on the shelf are only one of the other, i am an overactive sweater... (yes i realize the irony) ...a little heat and humidity and im sweaty. and have tried several things over the years, these newer Dove and Mitchum are the best ive used in years.

this stuff, you are never going to stop sweating entirely when it comes to extreme heat but this cuts back on the sweating and b.o.

Roll it on before bed every few days, regular deodorant/antiperspirant in the morning.

Mitchum Advanced Control 48 Hour Deodorant and Antiperspirant Gel, I swear this stuff seals your pours almost completely. I sweat all the time, always have, and it's what I use for job interviews and other important events. If you use it every day at work your shirts will end up with a stiff white solid and, as far as I've tried, you can't wash it off. I work outside most of the year and am very hairy, so I assume I sweat more than most.

Hear's what it looks like:

Degree is the best IMO, no question. The chalky white one is the strongest but the other options are really good. I've never been disappointed.

But I've been using a cheap Right Guard clear lately since I work from home and don't need to really go out of my way to be nice to others. cool smile

I'm extremely hot natured and sweat easily and I sweat profusely while at work (it's a fairly physically demanding job and they don't believe in air conditioning) but I use swagger by old spice and never have b.o. Everybody is different though.

Don't EVER use antiperspirants. If you look at the label you will see that they contain a form of aluminum that gradually builds up in your body/brain and will lead to alzheimers etc. Your body was designed to sweat, so stop trying to close your pores with toxic metals.

Nah, not true:

"There was a lot of research that looked at the link between Alzheimer's and aluminum, and there hasn't been any definitive evidence to suggest there is a link," says Heather M. Snyder, PhD, senior associate director of medical and scientific relations for the Alzheimer's Association.

I use a deodorant "crystal" when I don't need the supreme dryness/permanent memory loss that Mitchum gives me.

It keeps the BO down but the juices still flowing.

I plussed it! How anybody can think aluminum in your armpit can give you Alzheimer's boggles the noggin'. Pores are constantly pushing stuff out of your body, they don't assimilate stuff and send it to your brain.

I'd probably recommend quitting smoking rock off of aluminum foil though.....probably.

A city in China.

Lately, I've used Dove Men and Degree. They work ok. Just divide however long it says it works by 4 (or 6 if you're actice). 48 hours works for around 12 hours normally or 8 hours if you're active.

I like how the community is tight knit enough you can ask for recommendations on things and and get legit recs and not have to wonder if they're shills. And how there's a resident expert on everything here. And its sad that it will someday be gone, one of the last relics of pre-social media internet.

I don't use anything. I finally figured out in high school that the use of products made me sweat profusely, far more than normal. Since then I've noticed it's rare that I get sweat spots under my arms at all. I've got to do doing actual work in actual heat/humidity to sweat like I used to on that stuff.

Everyone else is obsessed with that kind of stuff in my family. Everyone's shirts have gnarly stains in the pits and random faded spots from where deodorant touched it, while not one of my shirts have that, I can tell who's home and who's not (and I'm almost anosmic now) while I need to get 2+ weeks of not showering at all (long story, homeless) to even begin to start smelling. Most of my family have thin hair/will be bald well before 30, while I have a healthy thick hair. They're all on creams and injections and constantly have spots, while I only get some acne once in a blue moon and only when I shave (even this I am hoping to get rid of with a new system).

Unless you are a manual laborer or are practicing sport, daily showers (really washing with soaps) completely mess up your skin and hair and are utterly unnecessary. I shower every other day, Bond shower every 2nd shower (hot as you can get it, shampoo last before rising in ice cold water), shave in between shower days to avoid soap and shampoo getting into open/vulnerable pores and completely dropped deodorants/antiperspirants. All the crap in those things are horrible for your system in multiple ways.

Dead give away around these parts. My family does not pass up an opportunity to talk crap about anyone, especially me.

Plus I haven't been in a position to getting used to smelling, if it's hot and muggy out I can still tell if I am funky.

The only deodorant I can use is Arm & Hammer Essentials Powder Fresh - it smells like baby powder. Everything else either burns me, or stinks like chemicals too much - I tried out their sport scent and my eyes were dried out until I took another shower. I've always been incredibly sensitive to most chemical-based perfumes. The perfume section in the mall makes me woozy. I can't even wear cologne.

Problem is, the damn thing is now near impossible to find here. The only place that stocks it now is 99 Cent Only Store, so I just buy two or three sticks every couple of months.
