Yeah. Unfortunate that it's already indicating that they overshot the intended orbit. Looks like it'll be heading out towards Ceres.

That sucks they missed it but still amazingly cool how successful it was as far as being able to re-use the booster rockets. The dummy behind the wheel and Don't Panic sign are epic.

I think if it doesn't get obliterated by something in the belt, it'll probably fetch a nice auction price in 100-200 years when someone recovers it.

Hopefully it ends up orbiting something and becomes a tourist attraction in a few hundred years.

A lot of experts say that the solar radiation will eat away fairly quickly at all of the parts that hold it together. So, metals will be mostly fine -- but rubber and everything else will fall apart. So, I think it'll either be destroyed by the belt -- or destroyed by solar radiation.

Still awesome though!

I didn't think there were any plans or even a means to recover it. Well maybe some advance tech like you said in a few hundred years.

Just think about where we were in 1918.

For reference:

In 100 years we'll think about rockets as trivially as we look at those prop planes from back when.

We're assuming our species doesn't have some sort of catastrophic setback. However, I am a futurist and I would love to see what tech is around in 2118. This is 6 years after they have assumed control over the Solar Federation.

Or maybe it'll get picked up by aliens and cloned, a la Super Space Invaders.

Clearly aliens will see this as an invasion / intergalactic threat and decide to finally wipe us out.
