Right now we have the ppv prediction threads and the thread for the fantasy league but I figure we could use a thread for all wrestling discussion like we have with football and basketball, that way people can use it all year round.

Also, I had something I wanted to advocate. I don't watch wwe these days, more into other wrestling promotions, but I do skim results and check out highlights of stuff I hear is really good. And this is REALLY good. From raw last night, one of those cena firey shoot-ish promos I love and it's directed at none other than Roman Reigns. Enjoy.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3vIsN-MD9U

Also, Cena/Reigns and Lesnar/Strowman feel way too big for a nothing ppv, very interesting that they didn't save these for mania or even rumble/survivor series.

Great gosh darn intro to Raw, I wish it lasted forever. It really took me back to the good ol' day. A classic Vince heel turn, followed by a Stunner-fest from the legendary Stone Cold. Vince took a better stunner this time than he did in 97. I was calling a beer-Stunner the entire time and after Vince took his, I thought I was out of luck... but good old Shane was there to take one for the team. My lady was even laughing her ass off, and she's not too into wrestling. I just looked at her after and said "And that was what wrestling was like in the 90s."

Real fun intro. Interested to see how the rest of the night goes. yes

Prichard was pumped to be back on Raw, I kinda wish he got an in-ring segment. The place popped haarrrd when Brother Love popped up.

But yah fun stuff, until Boogeyman and his worms. Makes me audibly gag if I watch that kind of crap.

I'm partial to Boogeyman for 1 reason. My first of only 2 live wrestling shows was JCW Bloodymania 7, that last match featured Boogeyman and even on the DVD you can see me pointing and yelling at Boogeyman when the fight spills into the crowd cause I was right there beside him. I also to Kevin Owens, Bobby Lashley, Zack Gowan, who were part of that show.

Taker was very vague in his speech. Definitely sounds like he's gunning for one match though. Likely Cena, honestly no one else would make sense. Except if that is his last match I will be sad he's never fought Strowman.

So Miz vs. Reigns is next. The only other big star thing they've hyped is the Strowman/Lesnar/Kane interaction. I think it's possible Taker shows up Barclays at the end of the show to set something up with one of those three for Mania. Or if Cena holds a segment toward the end and they go that route, but I'm thinking it happens with one of them. They'd all make sense to an extent.

Fine with that honestly. Elias is starting to grow on me, so it was alright seeing him get one-up on Cena - and cool to Cena not mind it.

This was the wrong episode of Raw to go into hoping for good wrestling haha. The old school Raws are the one night each year that I let WWE off the hook for lacking wrestling haha

I thought the same. Not only did he lose, he lost clean. I thought this was going to be built up into a big feud?
Also, I feel bad for those people with tickets at the Manhattan Center. They're getting very few parts of the show. What a rip-off. During Bray's entrance they were chanting "we want something"

Judging from this reaction, they don't give two craps about DX right about now.
DX yapping about the past (doubt they'll do anything physical), Undertaker talking for 5 or 6 minutes, and a very disappointing Bray Wyatt vs Matt Hardy match isn't good enough. This crowd was ignored for the most part, and that sucks.

Again, I don't know what more you or they were expecting. They were obviously going to put the majority of the show in the building with more seats. Manhattan Center got the most prominent returns other than Austin and 1 of the few matches of the night, all of which were disappointing as they always are on old school shows. Wyatt vs. Hardy may not have been great but it was a match between two prominent dudes on a very wrestling-light card.

And judging by their reaction as of Scott Hall, I'd say they'll be fine.

That's really not what I heard haha, they popped as soon as the music hit. It was undercut hard by the fact that he got 2 steps out of the curtain before a random commercial break cut in.

Anyhow, now Manhattan Center gets Revival vs. The Club, which is the match I'd most want to see on a show like this - even if it's only 1 minute long lol. This crowd went from semi-understandably upset to down right spoiled.

I dunno if I've ever actually seen you praise WWE lol

It's an old school Raw. It was more about Raw than the Rumble, considering it was the 25th Anniversary. It was the go-home Raw but they obviously weren't going to focus too hard on the Rumble aspect. That said, the major angle of the PPV is about to close the show.

This was a fine anniversary show, which was clearly just for fun. Some folks just seem innately critical of anything WWE-related, yet never just stop watching haha

I did stop watching, for several years actually because of how awful it was. I started going to local indie shows instead because I thought they deserved more support than WWE, but I don't do that much anymore either. Only just somewhat recently got back into watching WWE.
@Lady's account is inactive now but when she was an active user of the site her personal forum was for wrestling discussion. I was an active poster in there for like a decade. I praised WWE when they deserved it, and I crap on them when they deserved it, too.

As far as me not praising WWE, I don't often have much negative things to say about NXT, as it is a big part of the reason I started watching again. I dislike HHH's politicing backstage in the past, and I'd be fine if I never saw him wrestle again in my life, but he seems to know what he's doing with NXT.

I stopped watching for a while too 2004ish-2009ish maybe? Those were truly dark times from the few times I'd tune in. Still a lot of PPVs from that era I skipped. I don't find the current stuff at all as offensive as those days, save for the horrifying Mahal title reign, so I can't complain so much personally.

Nothing tops ROH, PWG or NJPW though. I just don't mind the old WWE sideshow either. I guess I temper my expectations haha

When I gave up on WWE it was in 2012. I remember I was coming home from a concert and checking results for Extreme Rules 2012 which was the same night. I saw Brock had lost to John Cena and that was the final straw at the time. I'd still watch the PPV events here and there because I was subscribed to their On Demand service, but I wasn't watching the weekly shows anymore.
Around 2014 is when I started watching the NXT events as long as I could find a free stream of it, then I started catching a Raw and SmackDown here and there, but when the brand split came back last year and made SmackDown live on Tuesdays instead of taped is when I decided to watch both weekly shows again.
