Nice. I don't think the Gold edition of the the first one even released in the U.S.

Tried to replicate the deal, however "Sorry, but the promo code jun23ccsave10 is not eligible with the item(s) in your order."

Thanks for the heads up, @MrBean. But, alas, my luck was the same as that of @Frank. "Sorry, but the promo code jun23ccsave10 is not eligible with the item(s) in your order." frown

P.S. For what it's worth, I tried picking up Castlevania Anniversary Collection (Nintendo Switch) at a ten percent discount.

Looking at the code "ccsave" maybe it requires a best buy visa to work as that was my payment method.

Yup, Google searches confirm it must be used with a Best Buy credit card.

Maybe it's worth getting a Best Buy credit card now that they killed off Elite / Elite Pro benefits

Nah, that's exactly what they were hoping for. I'd prefer to just give them less business to be honest.

I don't disagree. The rewards suck now...

I still continued to use Best Buy for a LOT of my purchases, even after they discontinued the Gamer Club Unlimited. It just seems like the company has been continuing to discontinue the services that made them great.

Geek Squad? 10 years ago offered really good protection and warranties. Now? You have to subscribe to a service that STILL makes you pay for repairs. no

I was an Elite Gold member for a couple years, managed to stick with Elite a year or two after they discontinued GCU. Now I just see no point in purchasing at BB, unless it's a sale item.

I still like utilizing Best Buy for my new game purchases but only because they use Fedex and UPS, which typically are more consistent and arrive earlier than Amazon delivery. That said sometimes they don't ship till release day, I'd say 1/10 of the time and it gets here the next day.

There was this one amazing string of months a year or two back where my address somehow worked out ridiculously well versus the shipment center. It was them shipping from Virginia to Pennsylvania, and they'd ship it a few days early but still get to me the next day, so I had games a day or two early. It must have been a thing with multiple customers because eventually it'd still ship early but get held for a few days at my local distribution center.

The unceremonious killing of Elite and Elite Plus pretty much did them in for me. Even after GCU ended, I'd still looked to them for games because of Rewards and free shipping (I was Elite Plus). But now, with the points halved and a free shipping minimum, unless it's available locally for pick-up, I have more gift cards and discounts through Amazon. Especially since I already pay for a service with Amazon that includes way more for less. There's no way I'm paying for Total Tech.

Even the steelbooks for games aren't much of an incentive because they have so many they're typically available for $5-10 at a local store after a game gets a price reduction.

I haven't had to buy any electronics yet this year, but I will need to get a new phone. If I can't get it through Best Buy this time, no big deal.
