I question this move. Remedy makes mostly AAA games and not releasing a AAA game on disc may become a trend in the future. I am sadly going to have boycott this game as I hope this doesn't become a trend in the future.

I’ll grab it once it hits $20. Can’t bring myself to spend more than that on a digital game. We are definitely in the minority, though. I don’t think most people care. I just don’t understand the point of skipping physical altogether. They could have done a limited release at least. It’s just a bummer, really.

I agree with you both. I have no interest in paying that much for a digital release. Usually $20 is my sweet spot for a bigger release or AAA title. Just put it on the back burner and wait for a sale at this point. Shame, because I really would have wanted to get that game physically.

I'll be curious if another company like LRG would attempt to partner with Remedy on releasing a physical copy down the road.

Epic Games isn't getting a penny from me ever again after bringing console exclusivity bullcrap to PC, so I don't care if it's digital, physical, or ethereal.

It's hard to blame epic for that, really.

Before they showed up, steam pretty much had exclusivity on thousands of games by default because they were THE store.

Now that there is competition, there will be some exclusives bought and paid for by the storefront to attract gamers. If epic hadn't done it, it would only have been a matter of time before steam did.

It's not hard at all. Their store brings nothing to the customer. Valve and CD Projekt have done a lot of things they didn't have to do on Steam and GOG, respectively. Epic's store is a joke that would already have been taken down if not for its Chinese subsidizing.

I thought Fortnite was bringing in Billions a year and was also funding this effort. Unreal engine as well.

This super bums me out, as 'Alan Wake' is one of my favorite games and I bought the collectors edition for Xbox 360 back in the day. The reasoning is dumb. There's no way they're skipping physical to keep the price down. Epic wants their sales on their digital store first, then I'm sure they'll release a physical edition to get the rest of the sales from people that don't buy digital. I wanted to play this day one, so now I'll wait.

I don’t understand this. Physical sales still wouldn’t be on pc and would be only digital regardless. This does not effect the epic store because consoles don’t use the epic store

Those are certainly helping, but Tencent is a 40% owner, so their contributions are quite significant. The CCP has deep pockets.

It's $10 less on the Epic store versus the console stores, $50 to $60. The whole thing doesn't make much sense.
