@Slickriven I need to have my list updated. I no longer have some of the ones listed. My current list is:

Android -
PC -
PlayStation Vita -
Nintendo Switch -
Microsoft Xbox Series X|S -
PlayStation 5 -

Adding Android as I got a free year of google play on my phone from Verizon. And combining PC/Windows and Steam as I don't really care about the difference. They are both PC games. And removed PS4, PSVR, 360 and Xb1.

Thanks. yes

Thanks guys, I haven't tweaked the list of consoles yet, just sucked them fully over from the '21 thread. So keep any changes like this coming and I'll be updating the OP over the next few days.

Yay! I'm going to update my system list. I will be playing a lot of the retroid pocket 2+ which can emulate up to Gamecube. So I'll ask to add systems beaten as I beat each game, as I try to play many different systems on my new portable emulation machine.

Priorities for the Year
1. Beat the games that I've started over the past few years but never finished. (Horizon: Zero Dawn, Ultimate Spider-Man, Freedom Planet, etc.)
2. Beat the games that have been at the very top of my backlog for way too long. (Diablo II: Resurrected, Mass Effect 2, Need for Speed: Most Wanted)
2. Beat the games that I've added to my collection as collateral but never ended up finishing.

#2 The Oregon Trail for DSiWare

https://photos.app.goo.gl/YHqMBRn8Cq7d8hhVA

right near the beginning of the game, one of the kids wandered off and I had the option to look for them and lose time or keep going.

I thought it would be hilarious to just keep going, so I clicked that, the momma said "You're so cruel" so my character shot back with "we don't have time to waste looking for incompetent people!"

So that's why I ended with only 4 people. Trail life is rough yo.

This version of the game is super easy. Nobody died of dysentery the whole way.

Well, maybe that kid I left back on the trial died of dysentery. We'll never know.

When it comes to your latest game, @benstylus I would generally list it like this: Nintendo 3DS - Donkey Kong Jr (Nintendo Entertainment System)
That said, if you own a physical NES console and would like it listed for the NES instead I can do that.

Basically if a game was made for console X and you own console X but you beat it on console Y, you can claim it for X or Y - key driver here is the Xbox line - I don't want to dig out my Microsoft Xbox but if I beat a back-compat Microsoft Xbox/Microsoft Xbox 360 game, I'll count it on that system. But some figure it should count for the hardware they used and that's fine too. Outliers would be remastered versions - you shouldn't claim say Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition as a Microsoft Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 game since it technically wasn't available on those systems.
We're (I'm) not super strict here as it's a bit like the 'Last Game You Beat' thread - a way to potentially talk about a recent game beat, but also to track that and encourage playing diverse consoles and genres - if you're interested in badges.

--- @Everyone ---

I just updated the OP, added our 4 new members and reordered many folk's console listings - not everybody's yet, but most. I went with more/less Atari, Nintendo, Sega, Sony, Xbox, Others and then went with oldest consoles first, followed by oldest handhelds. Note the order of the 'Others' isn't set in stone.
I did this b/c while I respected @Antipop's putting them in overall release date order, adding a few got me screwed up and I liked how Ren2k seemed to list his (in an order I sort of stole).

I believe I've made all of the console changes requested by y'all so far, but as always, if you spot anything that doesn't line up let me know.

We're up to 33 participants after dropping JD (acct frozen, gone from GTZ?) and adding the 4 new. I'm still waiting to hear back from 8 folks - 3-4 I expect to continue but the others I'm not sure about.

Also the link to the new Spreadsheet and last year's list are up top.
One last thing, I won't give out the ghost badge for zero games completed until at/near the end of the month.

Frozen usually means taking a temporary break and they don't want their subtime to expire while they're gone.

Welp, first game of the year is down. Portal on Steam

Does this only count games started and completed within the year, like when my friends and I keep track of beaten games? By that I mean, I have a Wii U eShop game I started in mid-2020 but never actually finished. I plan to return to it and finally finish it, but will it count because I started it so long ago?

The only rule is that you beat it in the year, not necessarily do all the playing then. I played Wario Land 3 up to the final boss and then quit in 2014, but last year returned and beat him; it counted as a clear all the same.

3D Classics Urban Champion

After 117 rounds, I finally earned the rank of Urban Champion.

https://photos.app.goo.gl/SbN3UnzxKMEoLhNt7

Kept getting new winning icons up through Round 138 where it finally ran out (the last one was ambulances) and just replaced them with the word Champion.

https://photos.app.goo.gl/Xn8H3XZ4kerdLUjt6

I played until round 166 with no further grade increases so I think it's just an endless loop at this point. So I quicksaved and am calling it a night.

With Champion instead of icons, and having earned the name of the game as my title, I'm counting this as my #4 game this year.

Game #1 - Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch

I finally finished this thing. While I don't agree its the best game ever made (looking at you IGN), it wasn't completely terrible. I enjoyed it for a good 15 or so hours. Then got bored of it and just rushed to Gannon. I only had 15 hearts and no extra stamina. Did all four divine beats. But didn't do all the memories. I found the end boss super easy and did it in one go. I expected it to be much harder. Not sure why really. I have no plans to ever replay this. It took me 5 or 6 attempts of playing the game to even be able to get into it enough to want to finish it. Hoping the second one is better. I want dungeons. Not shrines. If the shrines had more to them and were longer, had enemies and not just puzzles, I'd probably have liked them more. They felt like filler. I wanted more of the divine beats dungeons. But even those could have been larger with more enemy encounters in them as well (or more obstacles I guess). A way to waste time while you gather up hearts. And after so many it just became boring as crap. The world also felt empty and devoid of anything to do. Exploring for seeds and shrines gets old. There really isn't anything else going on. Random encounters here and there. But you don't really gain anything from partaking in those battles. So why bother. It was probably the most boring and dull open world game I've played. Which seems odd to say. Because normally I'm saying "this open world game has too much B.S. filler and map barf in it". And then this is the complete opposite. Which you'd think I'd like. But it just got so boring running around a huge empty map. Next game needs a much small map, or more actual things to do. Actual exploring with rewards. I think not having an XP system in an open world game made it feel that way. You'd do a side quest and get 50 rupees. Oh, gee thanks. That took me almost an hour and you gave me pocket change. I have 9K rupees and you just gave me nothing for my time. Most of the game felt like that actually. I grew disappointed with the most everything in the game after the first 15 hours I'd say. Nothing about it was satisfying to do after that time. I honestly have no idea why this game gets so much praise. I don't see it. I mean, its not a crap game. But I can't fathom how so many people think its one of the best games they have ever played. I assume these people don't play many games. Or they just enjoy boring games I guess. I'm also being a little snarky I suppose because I feel like I just wasted 6 hours today playing this for a piss ending. If I had to score this I'd give it a 5/10.

Good to see everyone's busy winning already! I thought it'd be fitting to start 2022 by beating a crossover game, as that gets me halfway to our new Cross the Streams badge. I just beat Pokkén Tournament Nintendo Wii U , a crossover between Pokémon characters and Tekken fighting mechanics.

This game is special to me because I basically got it for free. I bought the Metroid Dread amiibo last year on GameStop's website ($30), and the shipping combined would've totaled $36. To get free shipping, I had to spend at least $35, so I looked for the cheapest Wii U game they had--Pokkén Tournament was $7. So I got a bonus game featuring Garchomp, one of the best Pokémon ever made! Pretty sweet.

@Slickriven I beat Pokkén Tournament Nintendo Wii U , getting me halfway to Cross the Streams.

#1 Catherine Full Body Nintendo Switch

This is half visual novel/puzzle game with 13 different endings. I got one of the "bad" endings. Thought the game was mediocre at best. I did enjoy the puzzling though and I appreciate that they tried to make something unique here. The story was good until they just ruined one of the main characters and things got too weird for me.

It's basically a Ubisoft game not made by Ubisoft. I dumped it after 10 or so hours. Ghost of Tsushima suffers from the same thing, big empty map and not a lot going on while you're going from point A to B.

And because its not actually made by Ubisoft, people give these games a pass for the big, empty world.

Will benstylus and I beat a game for every system? Heck no. 1) We don't have time, and 2) our libraries for some of these systems (specifically Sega Saturn & Sega Dreamcast) are virtually nonexistent.

That being said, Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu! Nintendo Switch is my first beaten game of the year.

And the NES/SNES/Genesis minis, as well as the two modern Game & Watch releases.

We have a PC (sort of), Android devices and an older iPad.

And that's not counting the fact that we have multiples of some systems... for DS we have a DSLite and a DSiXL; we have a New 3DSXL and 2DSXL; we have a Switch and Switch Lite; for Wii U and PS2, we have both US and Japanese systems...

We've also got evercade VS, Egret and Astro City Mini V preorders due out this year. Hoping to also get a PS5 if I ever see one available at retail.

And maybe some other things I'm forgetting which is why I didn't try to list all our systems because I knew I wouldn't get them all. And even if I did there's always the possibility of more during the year.

Edit: also have an AtGames genesis. Sound is a little off but the controllers are surprisingly good

Holy cow - lots of posts to catch up on
Welcome aboard @flamingtoastjpn @bonham2 and @sailorneorune - I will get you all added soon, thanks for listing your consoles. Bonham get me your list when you can.

@sailorneorune @benstylus I'll try to get your lists updated and should I have them match? Any mini console would count the same as the original. I think y'all are the first to have the Evercade (on here at least), will have to find a logo for it. Nice with the Astro City mini and TG-16 mini - those are the only 2 I don't have, am a touch too cheap to seek them out. Would you be opposed to using the Mame icon for the Astro City, since it's at least similar? If you would rather a diff icon we can look for that too. I have a Legends Gamer Mini and count it as Mame.
After I get your lists created - will PM you both, you can have a look to make sure I get them correct. The AtGame Genesis will just be listed as a Genesis - seeing as you essentially have 3 Genesis consoles variants you could note that when/if you clear something on them and I could try to indicate that.
Also if you don't want to list something like your PC or old iOS tablet, don't feel obligated. I've removed my Commodore 64 mini for now b/c I really didn't like trying to beat anything on it in '21 and don't even want to think about it in '22.

@SupremeSarna thanks for the reminder on that badge, I failed to add it to my list on my PC, so I forgot all about it until now.

As for the Billy Mitchell's Card badge, I'm perfectly fine with renaming it, as it now includes deck building games as well as old school arcade titles. Give me some new name suggestions if you have them.

Thanks for confirming @sharif

Could name it after Hiroshi 'Mr. Dotman' Ono, Namco's Pixel artist for games like Pac Man and Dig Dug.

He passed away last October.

Sounds good to me, unless we get another suggestion or 2, I'll go with that one.

I also beat Mega Man 8 Nintendo Switch , which isn't listed on the spreadsheet. You might've missed that.

I'd suggest the name Quarter-Muncher to replace Billy Mitchell.

I did miss this post, so thanks for letting me know - no you can't double dip. You either beat all of the individual games in a collection or you beat the collection overall. Talon beat all of the Halo games late last year from the MCC, but didn't then try to claim the MCC, and I wouldn't have honored that claim.

I was closer to the end than I thought from the last time I played. Good riddance to this game.

@Slickriven Yes, please omit PC, iOS and Android from our systems list since we don't really play games on them (if our desktop with all the fun Steam games gets freed up later, we'll let you know).

And as for the mini consoles, we got those partially for us and partially to provide some lovely retro games to our friends at OMGcon without spending a completely ridiculous amount of money. Just a slightly ridiculous amount of money.

@Antipop Could you do us all a solid and put NSFW tags on that post? Yeesh.

First game up on my Jurassic Park quest is Evolution for PC. I'm probably 80% through. I think I'll tackle Jurassic Park on Genesis for my next JP game.

Not sure if this counts (technically two days before new year), but I finished The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part II on PS5.

I'll be taking advantage of my PC backlog when the Steam Deck releases next month, as I won't be restricted to my desk. Also hoping to get a New 3DS XL this year to play some 3DS games.
