I am both excited and terrified for this. On one hand I love Indiana Jones, the previous games weren't all that great (aside from maybe Lego) and I'm scared that Bethesda is going to ruin it somehow given their recent track record. Hopefully this will be a redemption for them. I do not think I'll pre-order it, unless we see some amazing and unbelievable gameplay... what's everyone's thoughts?

At least MachineGames is developing it, they seem to have a solid track record. I'm optimistic.

With successful games that are Indiana Jones clones, like Tomb Raider and Uncharted, I don't see why someone would pay the royalties and licensing fees for the Indiana Jones name. There hasn't been a good movie from the franchise in like 25 years, so maybe it was cheap to license.

The only reason it makes sense is if Disney commissioned the game to build up hype for other stuff and Bethesda makes a ton of money regardless of sales.

Same, I don't see the hate for Crystal Skull... Had some people say how unrealistic it was because of you know... Aliens...but the others were sooo grounded in reality. I love Indy!

Also, I don't see Disney licensing this property unless it was agreed to come out on all consoles. Disney loves money.

Watched a short video from ACG on this and he joked that he expected it to come to the PS5, but that SX would get exclusives, be that cosmetics or even possibly DLC.
The fact that it's from Machine Games should help it as I agree they've done a good job with the Wolfenstein franchise.
ACG also touched on the likely comparisons to the TR and Uncharted series and said that trying to create mystery in a more open world setting like those 2 series have gone to, is a challenge. Plus those 2 series also relied heavily on killing human foes, while traditionally Indy doesn't kill very often. Hopefully they'll consider that as otherwise it'll likely just feel like a TR/Uncharted clone - which might not be terrible, but misses some of the value in it being licensed as IJ.

Wow, this is exciting. They'd be really smart to keep it an Xbox exclusive.

MachineGames is one of the most underrated devs out there. I'm glad they are working on something that isn't Wolfenstein related. Can't wait to see this in action!

I actually did enjoy Crystal Skull. I really wish they would have handed over the reigns to Shia because he was awesome in the movie... but batcrap crazy IRL and maybe unreliable?

But yeah I hope it feels like Indiana Jones meets Uncharted.

Imagine if they gave this IP to someone like Naughty Dog or Rockstar?

Tomb Raider and Uncharted are basically Indiana Jones games. They couldn't get the IP so they made their own.

I loved LOVED Uncharted 4. I'd love to see a UC style game done with Indy. That would be ah-mazing.

I don't have high hopes as I can't remember the last time there was a good Indy game since the DOS days.

I must be the only person who groans at the idea of Bethesda and anything. Maybe Microsoft fixes their bullcrap.

I'm fine with Bethesda as a publisher. They've published some games I've really enjoyed (Doom, Prey, etc). But it seems to me that as a developer they are pretty crappy. They haven't switched to a new game engine in close to 30 years, which just limits their games more and more. I don't have a ton of experience with their stuff but from everything I've seen their developed stuff is pretty sketchy sometimes.

That said, this is from MachineGames, who seem to have done a great job on the Wolfenstein series. So I'm a bit more optimistic.

Hopefully, but were they really all that amazing in the first place? Not trying to sound like an ass beyond my normal assery, but are they really as great as gamers make them out to be?

I've enjoyed The Elder Scrolls series. I've heard good things about some of their Fallout games. Outside of those, not much stands out from them as a developer. Their recent games and the constant re-release of Skyrim has certainly haven't helped their reputation.

The same could be said of Rockstar and GTAV. But we know both are working to develop the next in the series. We are at the point where games can take up to a decade to create/finish due to how vast they are and what consumers expect. So until then it kind of makes sense to re-release the last one especially for new consoles and improve them to pay the bills. At least my take on it.

I loved Elder Scrolls (could not do the online one, it was too "busy.") I enjoyed Fallout 3 and 4. 76 could have been great but fell flat when I played it. I have not touched it since the early days. I might again one day, maybe. Don't they have NPCs now and have made many improvements?

If ubisoft and bethseda swap star wars with indy jones it could work since they're trying to make indy stealth and gunless game, ubi can help with that from older Assassin Creed game formula
