Grown-Ass Man: complete a game from the following series: Castlevania (pre-SotN), anything From Software, and Contra (and any other Konami 2D shooter, for that matter). The first individual game that I included was Cuphead. If you feel like you beat a balls hard game and are deserving of this icon, post on here and the community will deem whether you earn it or not.

Lastly, despite the fact that several games fit multiple categories, a particular completion only counts towards one icon. For example: Super Mario World would count towards the Super Mayrio icon, but not the Hoppin' & Boppin' one. I understand this could get a little confusing, but that's how it's gonna be!

It's a new year, but you guys know the drill at this point: you give me your system list, you tell me when you've beaten a game, and I keep track of it. Oh and badges. I never dreamed those would've caught on like they did last year, so expect more of the same in 2021.

In addition to keeping track of the overall leaders in games beaten and systems covered, I'm going to keep track of the former on a monthly basis as well. That way if someone has a particularly prolific 30 day stretch, that number will be immortalized in a separate category and won't be buried under Renaissance2K for all eternity .

That'll do it for this portion and see below for what's actually important, the lists!

Game #12, 6th console - Super Turrican on Super Nintendo
I don't think this meets the criteria for any badge as it's a side-scrolling shooter, not hop/bop.

Beat it, like several other members, for the Retro GotM club. Decent title but some sections were annoying and I really didn't get the hang of the ball form and didn't use the freeze ray a whole lot.
I vaguely recall the box art from some ad or something as a kid as it looked familiar, otherwise I knew about nothing of the title. It being a Factor 5 game is pretty cool.

Alright, I tightened up a few errors for @GamersLyf, @EB, @Kommie, and @Lunar.

Additionally, being that we're doing a monthly leader, I figured it's about just as easy to keep track of everyone's monthly totals. Those have been given a new set of columns beneath the "games beaten" and "systems covered" running totals. Being that I'm not one for generic rewards, however, I created custom mushroom's for every month. I'll leave it up to you to ascertain the reasoning for all of the different color schemes. wink

My completion % is super low actually. I only have 89 plats. Out 750 games played in the PS ecosystem (PS3, Vita, PS4, PS5). Across 10 years, I think trophies didn't start until 2010. And 38 of those are throw away trash games that only exist to get the plat.

Here goes.

So every year on my birthday I usually do some sort of gaming related nonsense. Last year I beat all the Barbie games I owned. This year I decided to speedrun all the games I've ever run, back to back in one sitting. The result was a 13 hour marathon where I beat 26 games (and portions of two others).

Before I list them down, I'd like to preface that I did in fact beat 1 game in January: Death Squared on Switch, a cheap but surprisingly fun coop puzzle game. I think it got it for a buck on sale, definitely worth that.

The full list:
Nintendo Entertainment System Barbie, Battle Chess, The Chessmaster, Die Hard, Donkey Kong, Home Alone, North & South, Paperboy, Pirates!, Spot: The Video Game
Super Nintendo Barbie Super Model
Game Boy Barbie Fashion Pack Games, Barbie Game Girl, Dragon's Lair: The Legend, The Pagemaster
Game Boy Color Bing Yuan Li Xian Ji II
Game Boy Advance Barbie Horse Adventures: Blue Ribbon Race, Secret Agent Barbie: Royal Jewels Mission
Sega Genesis Barney's Hide & Seek, The Lion King
Sega CD Wirehead
Game Gear Ax Battler: A Legend of Golden Axe, Coca-Cola Kid
3DO The Daedalus Encounter
PC / Windows VA-11 HALL-A, What Remains of Edith Finch

The entire VOD is up on my twitch channel and here's a screen cap from when I finished the last page.

Concept Destruction - PlayStation 5

A fun little destruction derby game. The cars are all made out of cardboard and run on AA batteries. Not a lot of meat to this one. Its very short career mode. And doesn't have an online mode, which seems strange. It has a multiplayer option in the menu, but its not accessible. So I think they haven't added it to the game yet or something. Played this with my nephew today for about 2.5 hours. Local split screen is decent. But can be hard to see during a pile up due to the camera not really being all that great. The career mode only took about an hour as well.

#19 down: Immortals: Fenyx Rising on PS5. This had an interesting story, and I actually enjoyed the dialogue, although I know not everyone did. The art style is the sort that isn't typically my thing, but it grew on me. The combat was interesting (although I never felt like I had very cool powers (with a couple of exceptions) even with all these level-ups, skill points assigned to various upgrades, and blessings from the gods. For a game steeped in mythology, I was hoping I would get some fancier tricks. Also, I hate puzzles, and this game is just filled with them. Some of them were interesting, but I just felt like most of them were tedious things I had to slog through to get to the next part of the story. I bought the gold version and already redeemed the season pass right away, so I'll be back to this for the DLC and the platinum eventually though. All in all, it's a pretty good but not great game. I'd give it a 7/10.

@Antipop- Could you please add a PC to my list? I have a new gaming PC coming in this week and preemptively loaded up on a bunch of games, so I'll definitely have something for that before too long.

Just finished Super Mario 3D Land for 3DS. I played half of it on my 3DS, then carried it over to my PC to play it on the TV upscaled to 1080p. I will say it had its pros and cons. Pro was the game looked really nice in HD and controlled great with an Xbox One/Switch Pro controller. Con was the lack of 3D. The game was absolutely made to be played in 3D, and without it the depth perception is super off.

I figured playing it on PC was the best alternative to that game ever getting an HD port since it was fundamentally built for the 3DS.

Finished up Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood on Xbox Series X. 5/10 at best, and thats only because werewolf slashing mofos to heavy metal is pretty metal. Everything else is just boring, and some of the cheaper enemies can sometimes make the combat frustrating (seems to sometimes demand more skill than it offers the player to work with). Meh. Its FS/FT if anyone wants it. I got most of the achievements as well, but it requires a 2nd playthrough to see the different ending since it relies on autosaves only - and thats another thing with some games lately, only relying on autosaves, I dont like this practice.

Tried to play something on Xbox & the the video constantly cuts out nonstop. Not sure what happened. It was fine last time I played it a few months ago.
Then my Wii isn't outputting audio at all & not sure what's up with that. Worked fine last I played it too.
If video isn't misbehaving from PS2, is playable enough. Last game I played last year, later looking at the disc after it was acting up, there's a circular scratch going around the disc. Not sure if my PS2 did it, or was already like that when trader sent it to me. A little worried about trying another game & it scratches the game, if it is my system that did it. Want to run a laser clear disc on it first, I can tolerate that getting scratched. Can't find & don't remember where I last put that laser cleaner disc. Although it did play dvd for hours & disc wasn't scratched.

I only played KHIII so nah. Haha. Best I can understand is it centers around Xehonart the main villain. There are the keyblade wielders that are the light, and the 13 which are agents of dark. A lot of the bad guys are copies of the good guys using replicas. Yeah it's a lot of wishy washy bullcrap. But I was able to follow it. I did recognize Aqua and the other 2 boys which were playable characters of Rebirth on PSP, which I did play a little of.

I'm a KH fan and I have no idea what happened in the 3rd game other than some order 13 crap I forgot immediately. The first 2 games though are more coherent with a higher focus on Xemnas and Riku with a bit more emotional depth as you felt more invested in the characters and their separation and reconnection, sacrifices and triumphs, but there's still convoluted plot holes they try and fill in with the other 2029292 spin off bs games. KH3 just felt tacked on and rushed in some areas and I felt they couldn't close thr trilogy properly to give it a meaningful send off. The lack of Square FF characters was an odd choice I thought for KH3 too.

I still "like" it. It's just while I was playing I remember back to Super Paper Mario and that dorky Fulawful or w/e his name was. (the online posting nerd). It was so funny, charming and well written. I guess the Fire Emblem team made this game? They just don't have that charm of Nintendo. Nintendo needs to handle these types of games themselves and not outsource it to secondary 1st party teams.

Intelligent Systems (studio behind FE) has always developed the Paper Mario series. It just comes down to who did the writing. The last 3 games were all written by Taro Kudo, while the first 3 games had different writers.

Another game down: Leo's Fortune for iOS. I played this a few times before a couple of years ago, but I didn't remember a ton about it. Neat little physics platforms that looks absolutely stunning years later. Somewhat janky though.

Only one system left: Quest 2. Maybe I'll clear Robo Recall Unplugged or Pistol Whip 2089, I'm not sure.

I see, last 3 games include Sticker Star? I think the writing in Color Splash was damn good actually. In fact I think I like it better than Origami King. Maybe it's just the oragami girl thing, guess everyone is allowed a slight dud every once in awhile.

Yeah, he started writing them beginning with Sticker Star. I didn't play Color Splash for long at all. I think that's when my game pad broke and I never replaced (or fixed) it.
