15-Jan-2018(#5)imageThis is from a pawn shop close to my house. They've been getting painfully good at pricing their games fairly (looking up values online, etc). If you look at the price tag it says "Hero Fighters" -- my theory is they couldn't read the title accurately, did a search for "Hero Fighters" and came up empty-handed so they just decided to throw on a random middle-of-the-road price. Bad typography FTW. :)
The store was busy when I found this; they keep their games inside a locked glass case and you need to grab an employee to open it. I guarded this thing like a hawk until an employee walked by. Haha.
Hoping some rubbing alcohol will take care of that marker; labels and cart are fantastic otherwise.

Record Head is a craphole anyway. 4 out of the 5 times I've been there it's smelled like someone took a dump.

Prices, on games anyway, are usually right on with Ebay prices, not a $1 less. I did buy Chew Man Fu (TG16) CIC, there for $35, which is what it was going for...back in 2012/2013, and now it's maybe double? But still...worth checking out every now and then just to see the items up close.

Thanks! You know what the craziest thing is? The price tag has the date the game came in (01/14, the previous day). Meaning it sat out there for at least a day. You have to wonder how many people passed through and saw it but didn't know the value.
I popped it in the SNES last night and got to the fifth level -- I was on the easiest difficulty but damn it gets hard. Super fun though.
Used some rubbing alcohol on the marker this morning and it's working quite well -- got about 90% of it off, just some very small remnants left. I'll keep scrubbing.

Yeah, those handhelds were about enough for floppies, but I doubt they're gonna get the job done for a full drive, not properly at least.
Plus by now those are old as hell, too. You think about a good drill kit?

27-Jan-2018(#38)This may not be exactly a find of the week, but I found Itadaki Street DS at my local game store for $25. Never thought I'd find that sucker out in the wild, thought I'd have to go to Ebay.

I think you paid a little too much, but that is definitely a cool find man! Especially out in the wild.

Yeah, I thought so too. But then again, my store, 2nd & Charles, is hit-and-miss with the prices. That's around what Ebay wants and considering that's my most decent find (even most of my local thrift stores are crap) I can't complain. Helps sharpen my mind when it's fried after working on my computer too much.

For minor that would be fine. I've been researching discount data destruction that could also pass medical HIPAA code. So I was thinking drive dismantling, wiping platters with a degausser, recycling components. Taking photos and serials for insurance purposes and collecting the interface boards for scrap.

27-Jan-2018(#48)Finally took some time to clean off Aero -- got about 99% of the marker off; the only remnants are on the bottom half of the cartridge under the "lip" (under the label). Q-tips and rubbing alcohol FTW.

LOL! I've never been a shooter guy, or a big SNES collector for that matter. I played it for about an hour and got my fill (i.e. got my ass kicked and quit out of frustration). Plus it scares me to hang onto games worth that much. I'd much rather use that money towards games I'm definitely going to play. :)
And what do you mean "for a song"? Hahaha.

28-Jan-2018(#61)Colourshaper wrote:> And what do you mean "for a song"? Hahaha.
Well, getting a 36-to-1 return definitely means a song; pretty much any business would kill for that kind of return. I may have also gotten my copy for a song, but mine stays in my collection as a good luck charm.

Don't worry man, I would have sold it even quicker than you did. Don't let anyone guilt you on that crap, that's a lot of money for a video game.

No, more likely they'd print the shell and ignore the guts. Doom/Doom 2 on GBA were pirated heavily (FOR SOME FUDGING REASON) but didn't save properly. Just because stuff has special internals doesn't necessarily mean the guys making bootleg carts CARE about the parts, they're just looking to cash in.
But that shape's so weird it's very unlikely they'd even go for it. Unless it went for tons of money.

Touche, that is a valid point.
I dont think Topsy Turvy has ever been really valuable, but it was def one of the more unique pieces of software, because it was one of the few that had hardware built into it. It's no Boktai ... but still pretty cool.

Tip them under a bright light on an angle and see if there's a stock number imprinted in the labels.
