It's called players gamepad - made in china. evidently it's made by hip gear:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/184620143670?hash=item2af...

so I hung around after the sale and got to know the people, they're selling their son's old stuff and have 3 more boxes of games they're hopefully going to show me

interesting story:
saw a post on FaceBook for a yard sale about 5 minutes from me.. saw pics and there was a box of PS1 games including games like DIno Crisis, Parasite Eve, Lunar... Took the kids over and turns out this girl had a TON of PS1 and Gamecube games that were pretty rare (Pokemon Coleseum, Arc the Lad, Legend of Dragoon, etc).. Most were in great shape.. After talking with her for a few minutes I finally asked what she wanted for the box (was hoping to steal it for like $200).. She said she knew a couple of games were worth over $100 each, so my offer was jokingly rejected.. She said she wanted to sell them (along with a ton of anime and Manga) to buy a car.. I told her I could help her sell them on here and I would take a 10% cut of all profits post shipping.. she said she'd think about it and we exchanged phone numbers..

About an hour later she texts me saying she got an offer for $3000 for all the games, anime and Manga so she took it.. She had more that she didn't bring and she might want me to help her sell those.. we shall see...

Never trust that a good deal will get delivered to you. Missed out on a smaller deal recently, cuz I thought they'd be able to make it down. Either way, wasn't worth the drive for me, so it was either that or nothing, and I got nothing lol.

To add to my last $50 deal, I went through all the games and realized silent hill 4 the room wasn't there. So I messaged and he mentioned someone more local came in and took a few games before I came down and he didn't update his ad. Quake 4 was also gone and prob some others than.

Still even with the $5 I added, I put most of the good stuff on ebay, which I realize would prob give me at least $500 profit, once it all sells. And I also made a local sell list that is about $250 if I sell. Will prob have to make lots at some point or wait for the games to get older/rarer to sell them all, but still not bad. A bit of the in's and out's of this deal, but it seems I even got slightly shortchanged since I thought I was getting everything in the pictures. Won't complain, my best haul since I got into buying again, and this was after I stopped and said whatever, than I got into it again.

Agreed. It's one thing to pay low if that's what they are asking, but it's totally different when you know the value and completely lowball.

I've noticed, since coming back to this site after years of inactivity, you see that alot now. I've gotten countless offers for my items worth $200 that people will offer me 2 or 3 $10 games and say that I'm getting a deal since I'm getting 2 for the cost of 1. Or something like "Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart just came out and your Switch copy of Shantae and the Pirates Curse is like 2 years old. So I'll do my R&C for your Shantae + $35".

Hell, just yesterday I was talking to someone here who wanted some out-of-print older amiibos. The value of them is in the $65 range if buying from ebay, so I though I'd knock off 25% and call it $50. Apparently non-MSRP for these old rare collectibles was unacceptable even though I was already shaving off a decent amount given their rarity. Needless to say, he got nothing.

I'm all for finding a good deal and if both parties are happy, great. I'm just sick of seeing people trying to rip others off when you know they would charge the full premium on their items. The "my crap is worth more than your crap" is strong here these days

Ugh. Things like that are just so wrong. It's like, c'mon, really?

Unfortunately there are those who do try to fool others. But to be fair, I'm sure there are also instances where one side is in fact innocent and doesn't actually know the value of an item or a trade/sale, or how the buying/selling process actually works.

I've sold a couple of items online locally in the past, and some of the messages I've gotten indicate that the other party isn't familiar with buying/selling. Either some people don't read item descriptions, or maybe they're just hoping that a seller will just say okay to a really low offer. Maybe they're just ignoring the fact that a price is already awesome and they offer even less. Who knows.

I once sold a small adjustable barbell set locally. Listed it at a steal of a price as I just wanted to get rid of it and declutter a bit. Had some people offer even less than the already not common to find it at this price amount. But I did have someone tell me straight out that the barbells were worth more, that I could get more for them, and curious to know why was I selling them for such a price. :) Nice of him.

(Anyway, the ending to that is a guy came by on a skateboard to buy the set. I had no idea how he'd get the barbells back home. Was wondering if he'd hold one in each hand. But he put them in a backpack and rode away.)

You know what would be great? Listing an item at a great price, and then receiving an offer for higher than your asking price. Now that I'd like to see.

I think people misunderstand me. I would never lowball someone or send someone a bad offer. And if you look at my trade history you'll see that.

But if I'm at a yard sale and someone is asking $5 for Chrono Trigger CIB or $5 for a bunch of pokemon games, I'm going to give them $5 and take it. I'm not a bad person for paying them their asking price.

I think everyone's point is you saw what was there and knew it was worth well over 200, yet you offered it anyway. It's not that you paid a listing price and got a deal. There is a large, significant difference between the two.

I don't agree. I think shadyfox or something or other mentioned he noticed 2-3 games worth in the $100's, so he made an offer of $200 without looking at the rest. I admit, I have done that in the past. I have a more extensive knowledge of older games, but am lacking in the department when I stopped playing video games, and never circulated around/knew the prices since that timeframe. Not to mention things could have changed. We're not all guru's so we offer on what we know, little lower than what we know, and roll the dice on the gamble. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't.

I sometimes want to throw in a little extra to make sure the person will secure and hold it for me. But that's about it, sometimes I'll say, your games are worth at least $50, but I can't pay more than $10 a game, so $20 total example. Sometimes they need the money, sometimes they do a little more research on their own once I give them some advice. Otherwise, sometimes, people just want their asking price. I get it, don't be an assh*le, work as a whole, but in this generation, lots of times, if a person is lazy or just decluttering and doesn't care, a good deal if you pass up or don't inform will get passed to the next person over. Are games holy now that they HAVE TO have a set price, or is there a minimum to pay on games if you know it's value. If you get a good deal, it definitely depends how I get it. If I notice they didn't charge an item and I have it, I'd mention it to them. If it was a high value item, I just don't think an error would happen, but what would you do. Or if someone shipped too much, would you mention it, and only kept until they ok it. There are many gray lines, I think people thinking video games are junk are just on the other side of people who have a holy grail stash of them. I used to find deals and sometimes flip immediately, it has stopped, but now I look for good deals, and I too, sometimes see a please contact for price and so far, nothing of real interest in any of them to make it worthwhile. But getting flamed for lowballing, it's only sellers that have that perogative, and that hardened perception due to it happening and them knowing their price is reasonable, or at least, what they need from it due to a cut from some other places.

You're right.

I don't think someone who goes to a yard sale and pays the asking price for an item is doing something wrong if the item is worth considerably more. It's the seller's responsibility to do research and put a price on their items. Just because someone drastically undervalues an item doesn't suddenly make it the responsibility of an interested buyer to point out the mistake. Would it be nice/kind to mention it? Yes. But it's not an obligation. A buyer isn't required to do such a thing, nor should they feel guilty for paying the asking price. It's the seller's business to decide asking prices. Again, would it be kind? Yes. But I don't think it's a right/wrong thing. Pointing it out might promote good karma or cosmic brownie points, so that might be of interest, but it isn't an obligation.

What one can do, I'm thinking, if they find a hidden gem at a yard sale that's vastly underpriced, and they'd like to be generous, is when/if they sell the item to anonymously give some of the profit to the seller.

What would be "wrong," imo, is if someone finds a cib Stadium Events at a yard sale for $75, and they offer the seller $50, or even $70. Or even $74, for that matter. You're already getting an amazing deal. Just give them the amount they're asking for and let them have the sale.

I just went to a pretty big Antique Mall. Never heard of the place before, and decided to stop in. Place had two floors filled to the brim with lots of variety. I did see a LOT of older PS2 Era games, but the prices were very high.

I did manage to snag a complete copy of Sticker Star 3DS , and a cartridge only Asteroids N64. Happy to add those to my collection, and happy I was able to buy something there. The people were really nice. I definitely plan to go back there in a few months or so to see if there's anything new!

Anyone marking one NES game $75 probably has enough sense to look up the price though. A stack of games marked $75 is different,

Agree.

There have been a few instances where I've paid more but I wouldn't expect anyone else to do it. Obviously in those situations I'm still paying a good price, but I decide to pay a little more (typically by buying some other crap I don't want to go with it then donating that or giving it away) because the money is for a kid that wants to put the money towards something new.

Sun wrote:

Yeah, it's the same thing some people do here and you see a bunch at garage sales. They try to play this game where maybe you will pay more. Wouldn't want to leave an extra dollar on the table by having a price on it. If the price is just "make an offer" then they should be prepared for low offers.

Ah, that's what that meant. Don't worry @JesterScott, I got plenty of bad controller time. I dreaded the controller with the worn out thumb pad. Basically just a metal stick poking out. In games that had a matchup, like Mario Kart or Smash Bros, the way we worked out the controller situation was that whoever won the match would get the good controller. When someone went on a winning streak, man did the losers really feel it wince

I thankfully never had to fight with my sister over the better controller. When we bought our N64 used, it came with 4 controllers. She claimed the atomic purple, I took the dark grey/black, and we left the two greys for others to use.

Later down the line, it was more of an issue going to friend's houses. As a kid, I always wanted to have multiple OEM, but my friends... not so much.

I'd get stuck with MadCatz or Pelican controllers. Eventually, if I owned the console, I'd bring my own controller. laughing out loud

I had a few 3rd party controllers as a kid, but they were mainly gifts or included with second-hand purchases. To this day I'm still fascinated with 3rd party controllers, but incredibly skeptical of their functionality.

got something that was off the main road from me, about 15 to 20 minutes one way. The price for the lot was $50, but I mentioned I was interested in a few but know I probably have to take the whole lot, what's the best price, he said he can do $45, but I noticed the Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth II + Expansion, plus the original first game. Thought I could easily get $85 clean by putting all 3 for sale @ $100 + a decent shipping, so even my bubble wrap is paid for lol. Than I have 19 other games I really don't know what to do with. Seems I'm going to list them out, but I am sure I won' sell the bulkload I want by selling them as singles and have no idea how lots really work on ebay, if they're half price of the value, varies on what people will pay. I will have to scout around and do my own research, as I don't want to sit on a pile of games for years.

Anyways, back to the topic, so $40 profit, relatively easy, he seemed like an honest guy, so hopefully those 3 games are complete after I check after the quarantine. This is what I got:

I bought an entire 60+ LD lot to get the LD on the left in this picture. The last sale I know of for it (which was a private sale but I'm tied into the LD community) was $350. There is a listing on eBay which is just someone lifting pictures from the current YAJ listing hoping to scalp it. Super fortunate to have beat a reseller on the forum it was listed on. Probably the rarest LD in the lot which has multiple other rare LDs. Some filler too of course, just a cost of buying lots.

Macross isn't really valuable at all fwiw, I just think the box set is cool. The Japanese concert LD of Queen included is definitely more valuable as are some others. A lot of the Japanese stuff included has minimal info in the database, so filling that in is always fun.

To-y is the other one pictured. Obscure one-off 90s oav that until recently was only on VHS/LD (they discovered the cels or something recently and are doing a blu). It's rare enough that's it's typically not on eBay at any given time. Rather unfortunate that like Five Star Stories and so many others there were issues that prevented the oavs from being the full story told in the manga. I have of course read all those manga, but having oavs would be awesome. Nana is somewhat similar, if you've heard of that.

Here is an old ANN Buried Treasure article on it from 2007: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/buried-treasure/2...

The full total releases that were pressed? There are over 60,000 in the database and some are still being added/discovered.

My father and I went through a Laserdisc phase of collecting. I'm down to just about two dozen titles. The rest I've upgraded from dvd or blu-ray. My father kept buying them, though, and he's got around 800 or more. He wants to sell them but he's almost 90 and every time I try to go over there to try to organize them and photograph them either he gets tired and leaves the room or we get into an argument about what they are worth.

In the 90's he bought a video store out that had nothing but porn laserdiscs. He sold all of them on eBay back in the day. Unfortunately he's convinced that the boxes and boxes of regular releases he has now are worth what they were in the 90's and they just aren't.

I'd like to see someone come in and buy them all from him. I hate the thought of having to take a weekend or a week and going through all of them. Oy.

Yeah, a lot of movies are just dirt cheap. Obviously there are exceptions but many are not really worth the cost to ship. Which is fun when you just want to watch classic movies as I have got the vast majority of my collection for around a dollar a LD. Some stuff I did seek out individually like the GITS Cav JP box set and some other anime and concert stuff mostly.

I'm going to go ahead and message a guy I know in Delaware (not super close but much closer than me) and see if he would be interested. If he is, I can let him know where to contact you.

Collecting LDs is risky now because a lot of them are failing due to disc rot. :(

I haven't been going out much because it's been ridiculously hot the past week. It was 118 degrees today. My poor AC can't handle it.

I mean not really. I've not acquired an LD that got worse over time and basically everyone I have talked to has shared that experience. Rot is something that happened due to bad pressings, and was noticeable at launch. It doesn't really get worse. Now warping, that's another story and something that can happen with improperly stored discs.

Not that I'm saying people should jump into LD or w/e, but rot is not even a top 5 reason to stay away.

What causes warping? How do you avoid it?

I understand the attraction of Vinyl and CRT gaming.

What's the attraction of Laser Disc? Doesn't DVD do pretty much everything LD does and more?

I think LD's have uncompressed audio. I believe blu-rays have returned to deliver that quality, but dvd went the compressed route in the early days.

Plus some flicks never made it from LD to dvd. Especially Criterion titles that didn't get relicensed for dvd.

AKIRA was a Criterion release in the Laserdisc era.

I inquired for a new Baldur's Gate the dvd rom edition in soft box, sealed. Box is Really crushed, but seal is still in tact.

I wanted to see more pics and ask if the price was negotiable. He said we can discuss it, than messaged me when he added pictures to the add. It didn't look totally crushed, but def has its fair share of being crushed in. Either way, the price was $10, and later I said the price is fair, I'll pay full price. I was on the way to pick something up from a radio station, to which they gave me an extra unclaimed prize, but after, this was a little further out but already being there, wasn't too bad at all. So I saw a dvd rom soft box for $40 and see the dvd new in case is $5 with high shipping.

I have no idea of value, $100? start a listing at $45 or $50 and see if I get a bid or more? That's prob what I'll do, not looking to make too much from it, but really don't see any dvd rom soft box versions of it that are sealed. This does have damage, but I must have gotten this Deal - if it is a deal - cuz I like rpg's and this guy had some other games on jewels didn't see anything really but though I could be surprised auctioning this off due to the new game, older merchandise market is hot right now, as well cuz the guy must have seen the ebay ad for the sealed dvd rom in dvd case but people always like boxes, def not first edition of game, but I dunno.

Any insight? Did I make a good or ok deal?

I already own Metroid Prime 1 on GameCube anyway, so maybe that's the version I should play. Plus as you mentioned, Dolphin is a great option. It's truly the definitive way to play GameCube games.

Actually no. I do want Dread, but I'm going to wait a while, until I can either buy it for $40 or trade for it. I literally just completed Zero Mission for the very first time. The Metroid series has been a big gap in my backlog that I'm finally in the mood to fill. laughing out loud

I actually recently acquired a copy of Prime 3 on here. Once I actually play Metroid Prime, I'll allow that experience to determine if I want to buy the trilogy on Wii U digitally to play the other two, or buy a physical 2, and play that and my 3 for Wii.

Decisions decisions.

Nice! I still have my ce copy from years and years ago. I've been meaning to play it since I haven't touched the prime games in close to 10 years but new stuff keeps coming out that I play instead. Prime Trilogy has been on my want to revisit list for a while but I never seem to get to it

Just got back home from the 127 Sale. Spent a week in the heat digging through junk boxes, shelves, and more. These photos are not in any order, I just tossed stuff in my car and am pulling it out. This is post #1 of I dunno, 6? We will see.

image
LOTR is missing Disc 1 and was $3. Larry, Shadow Man (PC), and Bust-a-Move were $1 each. All-Pro Football was $2

image
Whole set here was $180. Lady was asking $200, told her I would think it over. I came back and while looking it over a second time she mentioned she had cases for those six games - yeah, why would I have wanted them the first time I looked the system over?

image
Top row was $10, bottom row $12.

image
Picked up each of these from a thrift store for $2 each. Force Unleashed disc was also included in the Force Unleashed USE case. Was it part of the set?

That's it for now, need sleep and I have to work tomorrow. More and better things to come.

Some more finds:

Went to a thrift store on the first day I arrived. Got all of these for a buck each:
image

Another thrift store had these. About $8 all in:
image

A pawn shop a few days later had these. Xbox/360 games were $3 each, Trap Team was $10, other games were $30 for all:
image

Got this at another pawn shop for about $60. Don't know anything about Vitas, are the sticks supposed to be tight?
image

I however do know about this:

Unfortunately then the sticks are shot. They rest in whichever position I leave them in.

Generally I wipe systems before selling them, but I know the Vita is completely unsupported and there are some downloaded games on the system that I imagine you can't get back? Perhaps best to leave as-is? I'll have to check if the games are on the memory or on the system.

It's tied to PSN with store stuff so anything that's not tied to that keep. And if you figure out how to CFW on it it's got potential. Probably fixing the sticks is just a spring.

Good vitas are definitely a huge niche market for JRPGs, PSP etc.

@Porksta I'd attempt to fix it. If it's too high level, leave it as is, demonstrate it works for games that don't need analogs and sell the thing AS-IS.

It's definitely worth more you paid, and you still have that 64GB gem.

Both sticks. I move them down, the stick stays down. I push to the right, stick stays to the right. I'll have to see if the stick movement even registers on the system. I just turned it on and fooled around with it for a while since I have never used one.

Less likely than being damaged, but there could be a lot of dust/grime built up inside the sticks. Maybe try cleaning it with ISO.

Three games on top were $15 at a yard sale, two games on bottom were $2. Chromecast was $1.49. Bottom three items were an additional 20% off as the thrift store was having a sale.

Bond DVD is sealed and was $1 at a sale. Skylanders was $11 at a pawn shop, other games were about $60 at same pawn shop. This pawn shop runs a continuous B2G1 sale on old gen games. Every time I go I ask if XB1/PS4 count as old gen, and they always say no. Maybe this Christmas when I go they will have it figured out.
