Recommend me a game! Looking for more games that fit in this category:

- Can be beaten in under 5 hours
- Easy to pick up and play
- Not a walking simulator or VR
- Can be digital

I have the following systems readily available at the moment:

PS Vita
PS1
PS4
Xbox 360
Xbox One
Gamecube
SNES Classic

We all suffer from reduced time to play games, and I can't seem to get into the 30+ hour story driven games anymore. The occasional one is fine, I thoroughly enjoyed Assassin's Creed Origins, but with less time to play I began to prefer the ability to play a wider variety of games rather than focus on one for an entire month. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am open to anything from any genre, with the one caveat being it needs a clear beginning and "end", nothing that is quick play or timed modes only. Hoping I can find a hidden treasure I have not heard or thought of!

A game that's been out a while that I've enjoyed on PS4 is Bastion. Light action/RPG fun. I think I've played it around 5-6 hours and have one more stage left. The art is terrific, and the varying play styles (two weapons interchangeably) makes each level fresh.

Bastion is super good, i love the dev and pyre looks good too though i couldnt make myself finish transistor, not because it was bad really it just didnt grab me. Shadwen was kind of neat for an indie game, and ive been enjoying the 2d assassins creed games as well they arent too long. the ace combat series is another i really like and they arent too long either. this is kind of hard for as a primarily rpg player but have recently picked up fighters again due to their pick and play ability

Ive been playing a ton of Nuclear Throne. Its a twin stick shooter rogue lite. Good game if you have twenty minutes to kill but ive put in 500 hours.

Cuphead, all though difficulty is a bit high, but still great in both long and short sessions.

Another vote for Bastion. It'll take you 6-7 hours to beat, but it's definitely worth playing. Here are a few that you can play from start to finish in about 5 hours:

- Contrast (Didn't review well, but it's one of my favorite games on the PS4)
- Invisible Inc. (A challenging turn-based stealth/strategy hybrid)
- The Sexy Brutale (A puzzle adventure game that's unlike anything on the market)
- Shantae: Half-Genie Hero (A beautiful platformer with a killer soundtrack)
- Abzu (People might consider it an underwater walking simulator, but check it out some footage if you are curious. It's pretty awesome)
- Hyper Light Drifter (It might take you about 7 hours to beat, but it's too awesome to leave off any list. It's very challenging so buckle up!)
- Little Nightmares, Limbo, and Inside (You've probably played or heard of Limbo. Check out the other two because they are just as good)
- Stories: The Path of Destinies (An awesome action RPG with fast, fluid combat)
- Shadow Complex (A 2.5D Metroidvania-style game)
- Ninja Pizza Girl (Fast paced and a ton of fun. Reminds me a little of Mirror's Edge)
- Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (A unique adventure game where you control the characters individually with the two thumbsticks)
- Braid (Amazing puzzle-platformer. It's short but it's also challenging, so it might take you a little longer than 5 hours to beat)

I hope this helps.

I recently beat a game called Never Alone. It meets your requirements in that it is definitely 5 hours or less (in fact my only complaint with the game is that I don't like that it is so short), and it's a 2D platformer with some puzzles, so it's easy to pick up and play. Of the consoles you mentioned it is available digitally on PS4 and Xbox One.

Thank you for all of the suggestions so far!! A lot of people are on the right track as a handful of these I have played. Cuphead is one of my favorite games this generation. Bastion I had finished on the 360, Never Alone I finished with the DLC on the One. Limbo, Brothers, and I think Braid I have finished as well. As for 2D Ass Creed games I am actually in the middle of playing India.

I have heard of Abzu- and it does look pretty interesting. I think I will add that as one to check out. I checked out a few screens of Ninja Pizza Girl- kind of reminds me of N+. Is it similar?

Damn. I'm gonna hope and pray you've got some iteration of either the Nintendo DS or Nintendo 3DS 'cause I wanna recommend an addictive, inexpensive, pick up 'n' play puzzler that I've been enjoying for quite awhile now: Zoo Keeper (Nintendo DS). This brief video review here from the now-defunct YouTube channel CGR Undertow does a wonderful job explaining it. If you're able, definitely check it out; you certainly won't regret it! grin yes

Yeah, Inside is great. Little Nightmares is like an even darker version of Inside and Limbo. Definitely worth checking out if you enjoyed those two.

Shoot Many Robots (360) was a really fun game I just played through Bug Butcher (X1) last week and really enjoyed it as an "easy to pick up and play" kind of short XBL game. Rogue-like games are pretty good for pick up and play games too.

Sorry, i haven't played N+.

If you enjoy Abzu then check out Journey. It's a 2-3 hour game and is made by some of the same devs that made Abzu. It's one of my favorite indie games, but like Abzu, there isn't much "action".
