Vault101

3-Feb(#1)
The studio that made God of War, the latest one on the PS4, released an update yesterday that allows the game to run at 4K/60fps on PS5s. Since the game is now a freebie for PS5 owners with PS Plus, it's definitely worth trying. The game looks absolutely amazing and is silky smooth. Granted, this is a 3-year-old game that a lot of people have already played but I think it is even worth revisiting, it runs that well.
Curious to hear anyone else's thoughts on this, if they have any.

3-Feb(#2)I definitely plan to revisit this on the PS5. I already was planning on it (GoW is one of my all time favorites) but this is exciting.

3-Feb(#3)This is one of my all-time fav games. I played it on PS4 Pro at launch, and again recently on a slim, and still had a blast. Down the road I will definitely give this another spin and 4k/60 is awesome to hear.

3-Feb(#5)Yeah the funny thing is I started playing it two weeks ago and didn't know it was due for an update. I'd been alternating between 1080p/60fps and the 4K/30(?)fps. It's nice to have the best of both worlds.

3-Feb(#6)Nice! Now should I leave this in my backlog until I get a PS5 or just play it on my PS4 Pro now?
Vault101

3-Feb(#7)It's a great game regardless, it's not like it ran poorly before this update, it just runs better. The first boss fight is one of the best I've ever encountered and it's a great story so far with a vast amount of things to do.
EB

3-Feb(#9)Seriously, this game is maybe one of the best of all time IMO, certainly it is for me. Amazing.

5-Feb(#13)I just replayed it on a ps4 slim and it's still fantastic. Plus it's like $10 used now so there's no reason not to jump in now. I full expect to play it a 3rd time a year from now when I get a PS5.

Same here. It looks amazing without next-gen hardware.

it's a 20 hour game. If you don't like it, drop it. Don't waste your time on something you're not enjoying.

16-Feb(#17)I just reached the end credits, I really enjoyed the game but I only completed like 40 percent of what the world has to offer, so there's more fun to be had.
I'm not sure if it's an indictment of what PS5 has put out so far or how great this game looked when it came out in 2018, but it's one of the most visually appealing things I've played on PS5 so far. Not across the board necessarily, but the character models are pretty awesome.

I have that sitting on the shelf, I need to fire that up finally. Haven't played it yet.

Yeah, that is a great point. While the PS5 does have some cool stuff going for it, it definitely hasn't started living up to its price tag yet, if you can even find one. I lucked out on here but also paid a small premium for the privilege as well.

I'm mostly impressed with the lack of load times . My favorite game of the year so far

I finally started Ghost of Tsushima and it is very engrossing. I don't know if this is anything that anyone else noticed but it seemed like when I completed Act I, there is now a huge difficulty spike. Is that my imagination or a known thing?
EB

22-Feb(#27)I didn't notice it, but I also spent forever in Act I grinding on stuff.
Anxiouz

* 22-Feb(#28)Yeah, I think I did a little too much during Act 1 as I didn't know how the story would play out, and how many Acts there would be. In Act 2 I focussed more on the story missions and it went by pretty quick actually.
The difficulty gets greater but if you grind a little bit to get the max amount of throwables, upgrade your armor, and find more Focus, things are definitely easier. The game prefers you do secondary activities so if you're just focussing on the main story line I can see it getting much more difficult.
Vault101

24-Feb(#29)Yeah, I think you are both right. I hardly did any side quests at all, should probably go try that out.
