Is it unusual for such an anticipated title that's only several months away to not have much known about it?
I don't usually follow games along their pre-release stages, so perhaps a lack of info is standard.
Personally, I'd rather a lack of info when it comes to games that I plan on playing. I don't care for spoilers, or to watch every trailer that comes out.
I'd have thought there'd be more out about it though. But again, I don't usually follow along with the progress of game development.
Did you watch the video linked later in that thread? Shows a new commercial with a little more gameplay. I haven't been this hyped for a game in a long time, and am tempted to buy digital as well so I can preload for early access and prevent any fighting over who gets to play it.
I cancelled my pre-order with the gold scroll. I saw some posts on Reddit of people having their orders updated to include the scroll. So hope my cancellation went to someone that actually wants it. I'm fine with the Collector's Edition. I'm just ready for the game to release, and the OLED next week!
also interesting testing going on with regards to durability. sounds like you can un-fuse and re-fuse items to weapons to reset the durability. if they don't take that out, that could shut a lot of people up

hadn't seen that yet...that's nice.
i also REALLY hope that you start the game with the traveler's medallion. you got that really late in the first game but it will be really helpful with the trial and error of the sky islands to have that handy
Cooking: -you can now carry cooking pots around with you as inventory...but they break after one use -there is a recipe card database. cards get added when you make a dish for the first time
Building: -apparently you can save your build designs...LOVE THAT. I think it will be fun and novel to create some cool things, but i know it will get tedious after a while -There is an additional power (icon is three purple hands) that streamlines the ultrahand ability...but they can't talk about it yet
This does not confirm dungeons in the traditional sense. The area(s) could easily be as shallow as the divine beasts, a shrine variant, an arena battle, trial, etc.
> the sky islands really do remind me of Wind Waker. this just doubles down on that
To me it's what Nintendo wanted the Skyward Sword world to be at that time. I like the return of treasure maps, and I hope they return the traditional shovel.
Side note: Wouldn't that piss the internet off, returning digging? They also need to return fishing.
I guess that's just the combination of letters they chose. Threw me off though. 3DS games for example, would go something like PNR-JTE-EGAE (I made that up, but it would be similar). The quadruple letters on the Switch cart seemed unusual to me.
Maybe Nintendo was saying "this game is really good, it's above AAA" :)
Some people are streaming the game today. Actually saw a video on YT and the guy was in the first shrine. Someone on reddit claims they have been watching someone on discord, and that the dungeons and underground areas are massive.

I don't get that sort of thing. Why would someone do that? If someone got the game early somehow, keep it private. Maybe even enjoy it. But certainly don't stream gameplay of it.

Reminds me of when some woman was able to download Advance Wars on Switch from the eShop last year. She pre-ordered it, and come release date she was able to download it despite it being delayed. She posted about it on social media and Nintendo yanked it from her console and refunded her. https://www.gamespot.com/articles/a-nintendo-switc...
As for why they'd be streaming one of the biggest releases of the year: clout.

Just went to the article. I don't understand why she said anything at all. Why not just enjoy the game, and not end up losing it? (Which is what happened). She could have said nothing, and been able to play the entire game - assuming development was completed and didn't require an update or major bug fixes)
I don't really care about spoilers. Honestly, I never really cared about the story in Zelda games, but I still want to experience as much of the gameplay on my own as much as possible.
All I want to know (and if anyone 100% KNOWS the answer to this, please PM me). ARE THERE CLASSIC FRICKEN DUNGEONS?

Friend of mine received one from Target. It was in the shipping box with 1 packing pillow laying neatly on top. Is the shipping department not aware that this barely does anything to protect the console box?
I've seen things like this before.
Wouldn't Target rather spend a little more on packing materials, than deal with returns due to damaged items?

Looks like 5 or 6, including Hyrule Castle. Airship dungeon is called the Wind Temple: The Legendary Stormwind Ark (actually saw a pic of it earlier ), and most of them have elemental themes. I also saw pics of some of the bosses so I'm just going to have to stop looking at spoilers. (Wind dungeon boss was shown in the last trailer though.)
So I guess it was confirmed the game is already being pirated; I had incorrectly assumed it was a few people who got access early. Nintendo busy filing copyright claims on the live streamers. I'm fine with reading bits and pieces, but will need to be weary of links/videos. Legit game sites on pins and needles so as not to get lost in the onslaught but also not to take anything too far and incur N's wrath. Pretty crummy situation honestly. I wonder if Nintendo tightens things up even more?
I've been seeing mixed responses regarding the dungeons. Some have described them as a cross between classic dungeons and the Divine Beasts. Besides that pic of the exterior, I've only seen a couple of shots of the inside. And a pic of the boss and its name, the flying ice thing from the trailer.
That makes sense. They can only make them so much like classic dungeons, with how different of a game BotW/TotK are. If they're at least somewhat more like classic dungeons, and there's more of them this time around and the bosses are more unique, I think I'll be pretty happy. Also, that's a crapload of shrines!
How are people already playing? And man, I gotta stop opening this thread! I look forward to this all being a massive surprise. I haven't watched any of the videos, pretty damn stoked for this!
> One of the more surprising new enemies in the game:
>
> ...
One of my other main wants for this game was much more enemy variety (non-boss or mini-boss). BotW was basically just Bokoblins, Lyzels, and Moblins over and over again. The trailers and videos I've watched have shown a couple more enemies, but I'm still concerned there's not a ton of variety. The Zelda franchise has SO many past enemies they could bring in, this really shouldn't be an issue. It's pretty sad that even the original Legend of Zelda had more enemy variety than Breath of the Wild lol
I've seen some other past enemies that I won't spoil. One I saw just this morning and hadn't seen in any previous clips. Maybe around a dozen new enemy types (plus their different varieties) that weren't in BotW, and possibly more I haven't seen yet.
Gotta disagree there. BotW was a very complete game. It was just lacking in some ways as a Zelda game. It's looking like Nintendo put a lot of effort into correcting that, which is great.
Saw a pic of someone's quest file who had completed the game. This game is just packed with content. Not going to go into spoilers, but I'll just say there are a lot more side quests than in BotW. And still don't know how many of those damn Koroks there are!
So I saw a video that detailed what Amiibo do in TotK. Nothing major (like Link wolf) thankfully, but honestly there were a few I don't own that I kind of want (Link's Awakening, Majora's Mask and the champions). Might have to look into a programmable dohicky or buy a card set. Not paying collector prices on anything out of print. Amiibo bonuses as the video described:
All Zelda Amiibo (except wolf Link) give a fabric for the glider. A decent number of cool looking ones. Some additionally give outfits and masks.
Some of the Zelda amiibos came back in stock at certain retailers recently. I got Majora from BB and OoT Link from Amazon. Already have the Link's Awakening and Wolf Link amiibos. Had some other Zelda ones but sold them.

It looks like BB is going to restock the Majora one. Not a big fan of that game nor amiibo, but the bonuses in TotK looked pretty sweet. I'd pick up the LA Amiibo.
Really kicking myself for not pouncing on more Amiibo when they were being clearance out. Both of those I had the opportunity to buy under $10. For awhile GS had them 4 or 5 for $20 used. I passed on so many. Really wished I pulled the trigger on Little Mac at launch, and Ken later on. I thought they'd all end up overproduced and discounted deeply in a year like most Nintendo accessories.
At least I was able to pick up the loftwing Zelda and samus/emmi 2 pack for $5 each with GS's latest sale.
