Not to mention it's emotionally exhausting. Anything collectible or deemed as such is snapped up by people looking to make a quick buck. I'm an old-school Pokémon fan, and was hoping I would be able to get enough of the 25th Anniversary TCG set, Celebrations, to share with OMGcon next June. Of course, that didn't happen.

This is one of many reasons why we can't have nice things.

yeah. I had this board game, Ticket to Ride Europe 15th Anniversary from amazon. I had to get a total of FOUR copies before one wasn't damaged in some way. It IS exhausting indeed my friend. I kept one, shipped 2 back. Never got around to shipping the third. So I have one slightly damaged one left over I am selling for a loss, still hasn't sold yet.

Which is part of the reason I don't deal with big LE's any more. But honestly, I don't miss them.

You're better off sticking to game stores like miniature market for board games. At least they understand the concept of proper packaging. Though the free shipping threshold is higher at places like that.

I buy most of my games on kickstarter and gamefound, haha. The only reason I ordered that one is it was retail only, limited edition type game. It's a great board game with cool themed plastic train cars.

Anyway, amazon is now saying it's shipping SMTV. I know you all are happy for me.

So apparently the Zelda Game and Watch has both the English and Japanese versions of the games. Just checked and confirmed the Japanese version of Zelda 1 and 2 have the additional audio channels!

I was playing Link's Awakening on it and the screen warp glitch still works! You can also hold A when starting any of the games to get full health. (Or unlock Game C in Vermin.)

Does Breaking of the Weapons have a lot of this snow/environmental hazards stuff? I played some of it and now have to figure out how to deal with cold in order to get to one of those early shrine things.

BOTW has some environmental areas to it, but its generally a minor nuance at first. You can cook meals or find/buy armor to counter the element.

What @mcorrado said, about cooking food or equipping armor that counters the cold.

Though I didn't find such armor for a long time. What I did was something else. Cool to find the following out when/as it happens, but maybe you want to know now:

I carried with me fire swords/spears. When equipped, those raise resistance to the cold. And if I had to battle an enemy, I'd quickly switch weapons so as not to break the fire weapon. The fire weapons don't help enough in unusually cold areas though.

I hated having to cook dishes to withstand environmental areas (because you're constantly on a time limit), so I just waited until I had whatever armor gave you the protection you needed before exploring those areas.

Also opted for the armor. I sorta hate depending on cooked dishes in games like BOTW for temporary stat boosts.

The nice bit of the game's design is they gave you multiple options to overcome the weather, much like most obstacles. It's a far cry from Navi (or equivalent) telling you exactly what to do every 5 minutes.

"Hey listen!"

Imagine that as you're climbing one of those humongous cliffs.

Link: "Navi, I'm still climbing. There's nothing else to do right now but climb or eat/drink."

Actually, I did find it a bit unusual that you can consume items while climbing. How is Link rummaging in his bag and finding the exact item you need, while hanging from a cliff? But hey, I'm not complaining. I definitely relied on that feature a lot, and consumed many stamina items while climbing to very tall places.

Well, I'm trying to start Metroid Dread. But I'm about to drop the game permanently as the worst 2D Metroid ever. I play Metroid to explore places, not run in a straight path avoiding enemies that are one touch game overs. One wrong jump or turn meaning you lose is not fun. How long does this go on for, as it will determine if I even play this game again?

It doesn't go away. The whole game felt like a boss rush with some hard locks preventing you from exploring at times. It never felt like a traditional 2d Metroid to me with the focus being exploration and discovery, but I do get why people like it.

The screw attack later in the game turns almost everything between boss battles into 1-2 hits, so that's something to keep in mind for going for 100%. The map is open right before the final boss too. Once I beat it I had no desire to play it again, but I wonder if over time that will change.

I'm giving it a shot, the weapon thing seems like a dumb complaint since the game just throws more at you. This begs the question why bother with the mechanic if it's trivialized quick?

Yeah...the weapon-breaking thing really didn't bother me that much. But, at the same time, I felt like the weapon system in general just wasn't implemented well. I would rather an overworld that's more segmented, with more difficult areas that you can't get to until later in the game. Each time you progress to harder areas, you then have access to more powerful weapons. Basically like traditional RPGs work.

I'll say this about the map towers: I tend to also dislike when games do that (looking at you, Spider-Man 2018), but I actually mind it less here. It seems designed to give you a landscape view of the terrain to find where to go to next, and oftentimes they add interactivity to some of them. For instance for one of the quests, a person on the tower is how I found out where to go to progress on one of the Divine Beasts.

Main things I want from the sequel:
-A better story than the first BOTW. Even Skyward Sword or some 2D Zeldas like Minish Cap have more interesting and fun NPC characters that add to the story.
-I'd also appreciate if Hyrule was a little more dense, population-wise. Give us a few legitimate towns with their own secrets to uncover.
-And of course, a few true-to-form dungeons. Shrines are fine to be sprinkled in there too but I'd like some actual, longer dungeons.

If they can manage to give us those things, I'll be fine accepting the weapon breaking or cooking mechanics despite them being a little wonky. I just want more content that isn't JUST "go explore" considering most exploration outside the main quest really just just leads you to Korok seeds and whatnot.

4 of those orb things from shrines get you either 1 heart or 1 stamina bar. You have to go to one of those angel statues specifically, which are found in most/all villages.

That's all I needed to know, thanks. I was hoping that since I was starting on Castlevania Advance at home on the PS4, I'd be able to go at the Metroid end at work, but I guess it's just a plain action game instead of an adventure. Screw attack has always been a late game skill to help you move around faster (to me); your mentioning of 1-2 hits sounds like they've nerfed it a little too.

So it's dropped. I'dve started SMTV, but I forgot to pack it with my switch, so I guess Aokana's up next?

It was honestly one of my least favorite complaints about the game. Yes, it's sorta obnoxious but I don't know what people are doing, I'm very, very frequently having to decide to leave crap in the dirt because I don't have any inventory space left anyways. There's plenty of fudging weapons. Master Mode, it's a gosh darn cornucopia of weapons, improved weapons to boot

I think my only complaint is that the Master Sword doesn't recharge in between uses until it's depleted, I'm on the fourth beast and it's like "You're running out of juice" and I'm like OKAY, *NOW* YOU TELL ME? WHERE WERE YOU TWO BEASTS AGO

Tons of weapons, yes, but so many mediocre ones. When you get an actual good weapon (especially a multi-shot bow), you just sock it away never to use on anything but a boss for fear of wasting it.

Breaking weapons nearly ruined my enjoyment of the game (he says with 100+ hours on his save file). What, I said NEARLY!

Definitely ruined any enjoyment I would have gotten out of master mode though. That was a huge disappointment when it takes going through 6 weapons just to take out a small camp of bokoblins

I just got the wide beam in Dread. I'm digging it. Feels like classic 2D Metroid yet fresh. Like all the things lacking from Samus Returns have been tweaked in Dread. Mercury Steam giving the people what they want. I only hope Retro studios is doing something over there with Metroid Prime 4. Never know what they're doing back there.

Again, you get access to so many weapons that I find the more time I spend obsessing about keeping "good" items, the less time I spend ...killing things and picking up items. So just kill things and pick up items, don't worry about "good" weapons because you're gonna hit the sweet spot and wail on them regardless, even if that two hander's "only" got 40ATK. Elementals? Blow em. Diamond weapons? Get that crap out of my face, I've got perfectly good sticks to break on white spotted moblins, I've barely even touched my Beast reward weapons. Buy all the arrows, and armor, sell all the gears and gems, play the game

For the record, Master Mode is a blast!!! I can't go back to normal mode, it's too elementary. The regeneration only really punishes you for REALLY sucking at the game, otherwise they've got slightly more health, which is offset by all the extra weapon chests they've peppered throughout the game, which you want to start beating on these guys so you can stockpile after you turn in your plant turds. Within an hour I was like the Borg, I had adapted, guardian++ weapons are literally dixie cups to me and I knew when to stand ground and fight, or run through the gauntlet to get the chest and get the fudge out. I'm actually about to head to Hyrule Castle, just finished off the last beast and got my first second row heart and have a full second circle on stamina. I think I'm good at this point, let's wrap this crap up

By "frustrating" I mean that it's frustrating that I can't figure out if I like the game or not. Not that it's a frustrating game or anything like that. If anything it's pretty simple/easy cause none of the Shrines are really all that challenging.

If you're not even enjoying it that much in the beginning, this is probably the right call. I was blown away by it in the beginning, but that feeling lessened over time. It wasn't until around halfway through that I started to be bothered by how big/empty the overworld is, but you got there pretty quickly.

So, what else is there to find besides Shrines in the open world? I found some creature under a rock that gave me a Korok(?) Seed and it was pretty random. I assume they're everywhere. Finding all that seems more a chore than fun.

Most of it is just exploring the different landscapes, finding items/materials, fighting enemies you come across, accumulating stronger and stronger weapons, etc. There are a TON of Koroks, so that's a big part of the exploration for sure.

Pretty sure I dropped the rock on that thing's head after I picked up the rock.

Finished metroid dread. Kind of cheated by looking up what to do in the last boss fight. A real disappoint that there is a counter needed to keep things going. I would have never realized (or taken me many many attempts) what to do there. Overall I liked it, but wished there was more time to enjoy the cool abilities you get at very end (screw attack etc)

That's the best part about the Korok Rock! The Rock Drop.

Complain about them all you want, but at least koroks do something unlike trophies and achievements

I just finished the Kraid fight in Metroid Dread. Loving the game but it does feel like it's a bit rushed from getting one ability to the next with no time to absorb your new toys. I can share in that sentiment and the screw attack they usually save for one of the last few abilities you obtain. I just got the Diffusion beam myself.

Does anybody know if a physical card exists for the Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity DLC? I'm only seeing digital downloads, but I'm pretty sure I've seen physical cards for other DLC, like BotW. I may be remembering wrong though.

Don't think so. BotW had one and I think Smash did too, a few for that one. Possible this isn't a thing for third parties, even though Nintendo published.

Try gamestop? I think they would only sell digital on the site, but they might have physical cards in store.

I played that one quite a bit. It was well worth the 9 cents I paid for it.

So obnoxious youtubers can put a crapface photo on a thumbnail of a clickbait video titled "I spent $250 on an eshop download! Was it worth it?"

I guarantee you the threat was not only empty, but intended as marketing to stir the pot a little bit and get their game in front of more eyes.

From the "all publicity is good publicity" school of thinking.

I think they can be sued for costs of retaining a legal counsel for even baseless legal threats, can't they? Doesn't seem smart. Also I'm not sure what lawyer decided to tell them they had a valid libel case, if any, but if any, they deserve to be disbarred

bullcrap marketing if true. It's like, make a gosh darn good game and word will get out.
