Welcome to The GameTZ Game Club! This is my attempt at forming an easy to get into book club type thing, but with games! Anybody, and everybody, is welcome to join in on the fun!
- Each month a random game will be chosen, by myself, for the club to play. Games can vary from the beginning of gaming onward to current-generation platforms. There are no limitations!
- You have from the 1st of every month to 11:59PM EST of the final day to complete the designated game. 100% completion isn't required. The point of the club is to provoke game discussion, as well as give GameTZ veterans and new users a place to mingle!]
- For every game completed, post a picture as proof of your completion Example. This is essential in order to receive your badge and entry to the monthly raffle.
- You will be awarded with a badge each month you complete the game. All badges will be proudly displayed next to your name in the original post. As long as you "roll credits" the game is considered beaten!
- Some months will feature prizes! Every user to complete the game of the month will be thrown into a drawing to win prizes! Users will be assigned a number and users will be randomly generated at some point the following month.
- Prizes will vary. Prizes will beon a donation basis by either me or another member. Sometimes physical, sometimes digital. If you would like to contribute, drop me a message.
- If you don't own the game, and you have access to it on another platform, you're welcome to play it that way. Just make sure that it's the same version, to qualify for the prize or badge.
- If you do not want to participate in the games, but would like to join in on the conversations, please do!
- If you would like to join, just post here, and I'll add you to the list of users. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or criticism, please don't hesitate to post them!

Also, that Humble Bundle I mentioned had both Steam and EA Origin keys for Crysis 2. I never redeemed the key for it on EA Origin, so assuming these things never expire, I can give it to someone here that doesn't own it but wants to participate this month. It's for Crysis 2 Maximum Edition.
I went and bought Crysis on Steam (non-remaster version). If I can get it running without needing to jump through a hundred hoops, I will beat it before the month ends. I've been meaning to play through this series for a long time, so that's why I didn't want to start with Crysis 2, but I will if for whatever reason I can't get the first game running.
edit: So it definitely won't work without you needing to download a couple files from github. I didn't actually start the game yet, but I couldn't even get to the title screen until I downloaded them. The other option is to buy it from GOG instead.
Alright, I played Crysis for an hour so far. I'm 15 years late to the party, but I'm still impressed by the graphics. These environments look so nice. I'm sure they look even better in the remastered version, but I specifically wanted to try the original just to see how it holds up.
If I recall, certain sections/encounters were very difficult in that game. I recall 1 section where you come up to some dudes sort of defending an entrance to a cave I think and holy cow did I die a ton trying to take them all down. I think Crysis uses the model of keep spawning in dudes until you take out the leader or some other trigger - a tactic I HATE, but I could be mistaken and that section simply sucked. I thankfully don't recall too many other sections like that, but there were a few that I had to tackle a few times for sure.
Alright, so I finished the game. During the final boss battle my old Xbox 360 wired controller just randomly seemed to die. I had been using that with PC games for over a decade. I had to change to using my Switch Pro Controller via Bluetooth and it felt weird in comparison and wouldn't let me configure it, but it was fine since I was already more than halfway done with the boss anyway.
I started up Crysis Remastered on PC today, and it's the most graphics intensive game I've tried on my new computer so far. (I've mostly just played indie roguelites like Roguebook and Griftlands). Now I'm starting to get the appeal of PC gaming. Everything is super responsive and looks great on max settings at 120 fps. Now, I just need to figure out controller support. I love this game so far, but I don't love keyboard and mouse for anything other than RPGs like Baldur's Gate and strategy games like Age of Empires. The option to switch between armor mode, stealth mode, and running super quickly is fun.
I don't know if anybody else has Razer gear, but Crysis Remastered does some pretty cool stuff with Chroma. I know the big joke about RGB is that you're not staring at your keys while you're playing, but they do a pretty good job of popping during the game's dicier moments.
Just watched credits finally roll on Spider-Man, will post image proof tomorrow. I finally got half decent at the combat so fighting wasn't so bad in the final quarter but still didn't love some things like playing as MJ or Miles or the often erratic camera. But overall it was a good game. I was level 49 and at 79% of the story before the final encounter. I did a good bit of the side stuff but wanted to finish it vs focusing on too many distractions. I think I might play around in the city and get a few more things checked off, but we'll see. One thing I didn't get the hang of was using other gadgets in combat. And I stunk at the drone challenges... Just glad I got to finish it.
Feb was a bah month for me with games. I did manage to finish Spidey (don't forget my badge @Frank - post #335). I put like 1 session into Crysis 2 and clearly didn't finish it. I had started it last year since I've had all 3 for a while thanks to that old Humble Bundle, but I just didn't game too much this month. Looks like your 20 questions sadly fell a bit apart, so what are 'we' playing in March?
I'm stuck in the hospital but brought my switch and have my laptop. I can play some things so I might use this month to make up Untitled Goose Game. Since it's quick, easy and not intense graphics. I've beaten it many times before but it's been a while. I was really hoping my new laptop would have showed up to give Crysis a whirl, but it overheats my current laptop. Chip shortage killed that plan though.
After a month of Lenovo saying "I don't know" I canceled the order and went with a fully maxed out Alienware X17 R2. It claims to be in production already with a delivery date set for the 17th, so we'll see. Only downside, is I'll not have a num pad which is rather annoying. I might keep my old laptop for work specifically since that's what I primarily use it for anyway.
Nice, only 5.99 on Steam and looks like my laptop could support it. I think I'll give it a try.
When the truth is buried, go underground. Step into this new take on text-based adventure from the award-winning team behind Thomas Was Alone and Volume. A short story that hands you the fate of the world above, as a detective looking for answers on the Subsurface Circular.
ALL REVIEWS: Overwhelmingly Positive (1,178) RELEASE DATE: Aug 17, 2017
I think I might pass on this. Watched a review and the guy sounded like Frank, but basically it's a 3+hr text/dialog game with pretty visuals of robots on a subway. I've simply got too many other games/things I'd rather spend my time on. If I already owned it or could play for free via GP then sure (just like Tacoma, UGG and a few other picks). It is cheap and can be had for under $3 online. It only being on Steam and Switch limits me some, oh well I do respect the more out of the box choice and Thomas Was Alone was solid, so I don't doubt this would be as well. I will thus seek to focus on finishing Crysis 2 - I am glad we can make up games every month now.
Yeah I do think it was more the opening comments/sentence structures. Plus we all hear ourselves differently in our own head. After I switched to YT and knew it wasn't you I didn't hear your voice as much.
He's definitely a bit less animated in his tone and his voice is very different.
As for the game choice, it's pretty intriguing, but as a guy that spends most of his day reading conversations via Slack and email, I'm not sure if I want to spend 3+ hours focused on more text based conversation.
> Hey @Frank, maybe we should play a beat 'em up sometime. Whaddya say?
Sure! Got any suggestions? I feel like a broken record, but at any point ANYONE can message me game suggestions. This month's was definitely nothing I had heard of prior to its suggestion for the club.
So is anyone playing the pick of the month? I've not been gaming a bunch this month, heck this year really, am hoping I get/make some time to dive back into Crysis 2 and finish it, but have put gaming overall on the 'back burner' lately.
I got about 3/4 of the way through Crysis Remastered and bought the game of the month for this month but haven't played it yet. Everything is taking a backseat to Elden Ring for now, but I'm hoping to finish up those other two before the end of the month. I think I'm probably only a few days away from platinuming Elden Ring.
I don't know if I'm going to bite the bullet and play this month, or wait for my Steam Deck shipment and play it there. I'll admit it doesn't sound like my cup of tea, but that hasn't stopped me in the past.
I played it for a while a few nights ago. The Subsurface Circular is actually a train that you ride all the time. I'm a robot trying to solve a mystery by questioning other passenger robots on the train. I'm enjoying the story so far. I plan on finishing it this weekend.
I beat it today. I wasn't quick enough to catch a screenshot of the ending, but I did take pictures that show that I unlocked the image gallery and the commentary, which can only be done by completing the game.
I really enjoyed this. The story and interaction with the other Teks was interesting. The few puzzles were pretty good as well. I got the biggest kick out of the priest when he talked about...
... how he was a Thomatoan. He then begins to tell the story of Thomas Was Alone! I was like, "no way!" I searched the creator this game and it turns out that he was also the creator of Thomas Was Alone.
Just beat it too. Wondering what everyone else chose at the end?
They talked me into shooting myself, but I probably should have shot Red.
Interesting story and I liked that it was a quick play, only took about 2 hours at the most. I also screenshotted the new start screen which has unlocks only when beaten. But I got the first part of the credits too.
Well I had wanted to finish Crysis 2 this month, but I tried to play it a few night ago and was in a section that sort of sucked and I died a few times and it put me back a ways further on respawn than I was expecting... so I gave up and played something else. Guess I'll keep chipping away and get it for another month. Well tomorrow is April 1st, so I guess we're not doing 20 Qs... So what's the game for April @Frank?
