Sweet, I just won this in an auction and think I'll look to play it early next year since I only beat it on the PS3 during the summer. Want to play the DLC too.

Like, co-op games? I know of a few games, but they're more like action games and not classic RPGs like Baldur's Gate. There's Dragon's Crown, Diablo 3, Toukiden 1 & 2, and Titan Quest. I've played all those games on different systems but they're also on PS4. For PS4 specifically, you could look at Elder Scrolls Online. I'm not really sure how the multiplayer in that game works, though.

I bought a 2tb external and Im glad I did. You barely have any games though, so 1TB might be enough for you. Online games (MW, Battlefield 4/5, Battlefront 2, etc) were the ones killing me and I do have a ridiculous amount of PS4 games so that didnt help the 500gb situation.

I did eventually run out of space and needed to delete some things, but honestly if you're mainly playing a few different games at a time, and not 30+, you'll probably be OK.

When you use an External drive, do you put the games you're not currently playing on it? Or is it pretty good at reading games quickly off the external HDD in order to play them?
For those that upgraded, do you spring for an SSD or SSDH (hybrid SSD and HDD)? Or a 7200 RPM spin speed?

Not necessarily. You put whatever games you want on it and you can play the game off of the external. I havent noticed performance issues at all.
Cool tip: You can actually have different external hdds with different games on them. The ps4 will let you swap between them. You cannot have them at the same time though.

* 6-Nov(#23)Second-hand PS4 Pro or regular PS4 slim? I think I asked this a while back. Someone mentioned that games didn't run as well and/or didn't look as good on a Pro. A few GTZers are selling their PS4 Pro consoles ahead of the PS5 launch. Curious if PS4 Pro really makes a big difference, or I should wait for (hopefully) some Black Friday price cuts on the PS4 slim. If it was you, what strategy would you go with?
longhornsk57

6-Nov(#24)I don't know what you mean by doesn't look as good on a Pro, but the slim runs most modern games like crap and the Pro handles them really well. I would not waste money on a slim, it doesn't even play 4K discs.
Anxiouz

6-Nov(#25)Neither the slim or pro can play UHD discs.

Second hand PS4 slim
Don't buy the pro. Not in 2020. That's just 200 bucks that should be going towards a PS5. The slim does everything the Pro does, and the Pro honestly does not improve much of anything, other than smearing 2K up to 4K in a few games. The base PS4 experience is fine. It's very fine.
DarkFact

(abandoned)6-Nov(#28)Anxiouz wrote:> Neither the slim or pro can play UHD discs.
Some streaming apps don't see the PS4 Pro as being 4K capable either.

It's a real feel-good system all around, for the price hike and what you get out of it
longhornsk57

6-Nov(#29)I don't agree at all. Checkerboard 4K and HDR look a lot better than than the horrible frame rates you get out of a slim.
If you're going to "save your money towards a PS5" then don't get either
DarkFact

(abandoned)* 6-Nov(#30)What terrible frame rates? I didn't have terrible framerates on the slim, and I honestly didn't have GOOD framerates on the Pro. It was a pretty dumpy proposition. The resolution gets bumped up a bit. In some games. And the UI. Ok? At worst it was on parity with every other console/iteration out there, other than One X for obvious reasons.
If I could pick up a PS4 Slim for $120-140 tomorrow, I'd find $120-140. That's solid value. Hell, I'd probably go in on a fatty for $110-120.
longhornsk57

6-Nov(#31)For each their own I guess.
My Pro vastly outperformed the launch PS4, I guess you had different results.
I'd take a PS5 over both but the Pro is easily worth the extra $100 to me.
longhornsk57

6-Nov(#33)To me the resolution, HDR, and frame rate are extremely noticeable and games like Uncharted 4, HZD, Control, etc look and play significantly better on the Pro. To me it's worth $100.

Durr, I picked up a used slim about 5 months ago and have it hooked up to a 4k OLED. Haven't played it much, but primarily got it to play the likes of Uncharted 4, Spiderman, HZD, etc. Should I have gone for the pro instead, some folks suggested the slim over the pro based on my interest in just the exclusives, no interest in MP.
longhornsk57

6-Nov(#36)Ya playing a slim in an OLED 4K is like driving a GT350 but not past 2nd gear. You would have seen the difference I guarantee it
Alaisiagae

7-Nov(#38)Yeah, I don't have a 4K TV (yet) but I might upgrade - but even then, I think the biggest I could go for is 32" to 43" because of space limitations. I have a number of games that claim to be PS4-Pro enhanced. I don't intend to get a PS5 at launch, I like to wait for later iterations (more games available, possible updates to firmware, hardware, software). Some GTZers are offering their PS4 Pros for rates less than a new PS4 Slim, and I don't feel comfortable buying a console off Craigslist because who knows if it's a dud. I know PS5 is BC with 99% of PS4 games... honestly, though, I don't mind waiting. I've waited all this time for a PS4, right?
SilverOwl

* 7-Nov(#39)The difference between ps4 slim and pro is pretty big imo. I had a slim for a couple years and when I got my pro, I could tell how many games don't struggle as much as on the slim. But imo my one x blows the pro out of the water, except for some reason I feel like the hdr is better on pro. Or just the colors in general are better
akfa

9-Nov(#41)i have had zero issues with my slim, then again i've had the launch ps4 since the start and never played a pro. Also don't have any amazing television set up so that's a factor too, but my slim has been amazing.

13-Nov(#44)The first Watch Dogs was meh but I remember liking WD2 for the most part. If 2 is on sale that's a good place to start imo. Although the stories are connected, it's fairly simple stuff about hackers that you can easily just read up on. Even if you don't you're not missing anything.
akfa

13-Nov(#46)I haven't played Watch Dogs 1, but I myself am a fan of Watch Dogs 2. It's more open world errand type stuff, you can just run around and get into random shenanigans if you want. In some ways it's like a less expansive Grand Theft Auto, lol. You can just hop in a car or on a motorcycle and drive off, get into cop chases. There is a primary story line and then side quests. You can also, if you want, do some online quests and get paired up with other hackers (though you don't have to). I'm waiting for Legions to go on sale on Black Friday and then I'll pick that up too.

2 is the only one I didn't play. And this sounds way better than Legion. Legion is kind of short and scaled back. Not much to it. Not much to do overall. Feels like they had a lot of ideas/ambition but then funding got cut or something and it was rushed out half realized. I had fun with it for what it was it. But it just felt half of what they intended. Nothing as cool as what you just described about the previous game.

The 2nd game is massive. A picture perfect copy of san Francisco. Dozens of skills and I unlock. From hacking people's phones and stealing money. Or cause the street lights to go red or turn green. Control different construction machines, to reach top of buildings or hidden skill points. It's badass. Highly recommend

Did you get past the snowy opening bit? I remember that part being slow and boring me to tears but once it gets into the classic western story proper, I was in love. Arthur is such a well developed character, and the whole story plays out in a fun way.

Yah man it's addicting. I'm a little disappointed in the story length. Last night I got to the "this is the last chance to upgrade before the end" warning message and was a little thrown off. But I'm just playing all the "Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man" app missions before I play the ending and enjoy how they branch out and are ongoing as opposed to the og PS4 Spider-man side missions that were all just one and done, so Miles Morales somewhat makes up for the short story in that respect at least.

I got all the way to the first town. Fought some dudes at the whorehouse and also did a shootout mission. Wasnt a fan. I like the story and how everything is portrayed, but I hate how it controls. Even aiming is sluggish.

15-Nov(#64)Yah not gonna pretend the controls were perfect, riding the ehorse in certain spots was a nightmare, but they weren't so bad that I didn't enjoy my time with the game.
