28-Oct-2022(#2)I loved Days Gone, really awesome game. Death Stranding looked like a slog. MGS2 was really the height of Kojima for me too.

I loved that whole trilogy. I just did the single player, but seeing that MW3 logo turn into WW3 was one of the most exciting title screens I've seen. I don't even like realistic first-person shooters, but those hooked me. Couldn't get into any of the other Call of Duty games, but I'd recommend those three to people who don't even like the genre.

29-Oct-2022(#9)I kinda like that it can be long or not long depending on how you play. I don't do a lot of side stuff and unlike some games you don't need to level up slog style to progress.
Enjoyed the story. If they make a 2nd one for whatever reason I'd replay the first.

* 29-Oct-2022(#11)DG was long even in just core narrative. All open-world games have that lateral time-wasting filler, but it felt like the story had an extra act. I was really hoping we'd get the sequel, but I'll just tell myself an implied sequel is better (kind of like if The Matrix just stopped after the first film).

Technically they all are I beileve. Even the OG white ones got updated I believe. Could be wrong.

It was more slower paced than I like my metroidvanias (I know that doesn't last) and I found myself dying constantly to really cheap hits from enemies where they were finding kinks inbetween my character hitbox and my attacking hitbox and I was getting very frustrated. I'm sure I'll get back to it eventually but for now I moved on to Dead Cells and this is waayyyyy more my speed. I am loving it

It took me 4 times before it clicked. Nothing really changed except me. I had the same issue with BoTW. I think in both cases I needed to meet the games half way.
With Hollow Knight I was able to be more zen about getting lost and dying. I also didn't try to "souls-through" the bosses that 4th time. Instead I skipped them and came back if it stopped being fun. Not saying it will click with you, but it ended up being one of my favorite Metroid-like games; definitely the most recent of my favorites.

The system is almost 2 years old, so no warranty. It's starting to aggravate the piss out of me. Im always afraid that a new game will cause it to do this.

No, it actually shuts off. I have to unplug the power cord before it even comes boots back up.. it's 100% def shutting off
DarkFact
* 10-Nov-2022(#38)Yeah, signals dipping is one thing (could be a sound system sync issue for instance), the system powering down is either overheat or power supply failure. Having to unplug and replug is actually a +1 for bad power supply. It could be a bad SSD, but much less likely, that'd probably cause a hung system, not a powerdown.
It may not be covered under warranty, but it beats paying $500. I'd still call Sony and see if they'll take a look; if it's a defect from an early line it's also possible they may just take care of it and have you pay shipping or something. If it's a power supply that's like a $100 part swap, maybe $180 on top for labor, if it's overheating they could charge for a new mainboard... but it's more likely it just needs to be re-lubed and re-sealed. I'd trust Sony over any third parties right now, because if the third party guesses wrong or fudges it up it's just gonna cost you more to fix it.

That sounds like either a faulty or dusty power supply (PS4 games draw less power than PS5 games). Try to clean really well around it and see if that fixes the problem.

10-Nov-2022(#41)Also, I want to say that it doesn't do this all the time. I can play for hours without issues, but select games will make it shut down. The games are Outriders and Biomutant ( both games caused the issue twice within and hour period). And it happened once on GoW

Unsurprisingly, step one in finding out how to send your system in for repair is to try out their nifty website they spent a few hundred thousand dollars on:

I'm going to second what DarkFact has been saying. Take it from someone who experienced this same issue you're describing. For me it all started and ended with Elden Ring. Elden Ring had issues from the get go, crashing and deleting saves. I had these issues. Eventually after patches, and cleaning the internal dust out of my console, plus a few other recommended tricks (like plugging the USB charger into the back or front only, forget which). The issues subsided for awhile, and I eventually beat Elden Ring and moved on to other games.
A couple months later my son begins playing Elden Ring, it crashed on him at various times during his many hours of playing. Each time it crashed now and when I was having the issues, I had to physically pull the plug from the console, wait a few seconds, and plug it back in. The last time it crashed the graphics went haywire, freaking my son out, and the system shutdown. It never turned on again. The blue light would light up for two seconds and then shut off. Couldn't boot into safe mode, nothing.
I had my PS5 very close to launch, end of November I want to say. I just went through the repair process a few months ago. I was out of warranty because it had been a year and a half. It cost me $244.50 to send it in to Sony for them to fix. The turn around was quick, they have repair facilities here in the states. I sent it in and got it back all in a week's time or so.
I can't stress this enough, but BACK UP YOUR DATA, saves, photos, videos, everything. If it crashes and won't power on you're screwed. From what I can tell this crashing had to have lead to a hard drive/motherboard failure. Sony sent me back my console, but it was completely factory reset. I'm not sure if the original HDD is in it, but I'm guessing not. Everything was lost aside from my cloud saves.

Definitely seems like a faulty system. The fact that you have to replug the power maybe it's just the power brick? If you can somehow purchase just a brand new official power brick from sony that MIGHT solve your problem.

A power supply issue was one of the first things I thought when my issues started (details in my above post) as well. Unfortunately in this case the power supply is internal, making it tough to test. A new external cord to the wall likely won't do the trick. In my post above, I left out the part where I actually took my PS5 to a 3rd-party repair shop thinking I could get it fixed quicker and cheaper. They swapped out the internal power supply for a new one to test this theory and it didn't work. After waiting weeks for them to do this, which ended up being a waste of time, I was back to square one. At least the repair shop doesn't charge their customers for devices they fail to repair.

I think the PS+ Extra tier is pretty solid. I dont see much value in the most expensive tier. After my sub is over Ill probably just get Extra
Orlandu
17-Nov-2022(#67)Extra makes a ton of sense if you're a plus subscriber at all. I don't subscribe to plus or have a lot of spare time, so I'm not sure if I'll ever subscribe to extra.
