We'll see. I don't have much time for gaming. I got a PS5, gaming PC and gaming laptop. I just like new tech. *shrug*

Not sure if it should/can be discussed in open forum, but it has been so long since I've set up an emulation device for games, would it be possible for someone to PM me w/ more information? I'd like to also make my Steam deck emulate classic games.

I've been thinking if I should get one of these. Nice to read that the speed improvements aren't that extreme, that makes it easier to decide to go for the cheaper model lol

I'm really digging the deck. I only play hand held; switch and analogue pocket. Don't own any tethered consoles. So the deck has really expanded my gaming options. Been playing NBA 2k13, GTAV, checked out Hitman and played a few rounds of geometry wars.

Technically you load up Yuzu, you don't even need the Switch (usually, some weird exceptions like Fire Emblem Warriors 1 but like, I bet the Deck can run Hyrule Warriors DE at 60), all those Switch indie titles you've been paying $40-189 for have been like $3-12 on Steam the whole time anyways

The thought had crossed my mind but I'm also a collector.

Mine has arrived. Initially, I'm impressed. I feel like the screen is bigger than the Switch Lite. The D pad location bothers me a bit but not a dealbreaker.
I'm loading up Stray to see how it plays.

I still have this and Analogue Pocket pre-ordered. I opted for this over the OLED Switch since I have regular launch Switch (with hackable firmware).

Depending on how things go I may keep all 3 and play different things on each or just consolidate into one device (most likely the steam deck).

Edit to add context, I collect games and have large libraries of physical games.

The fitment is great and the blue actually looks better in person. It also comes with a screen protector.

Yeah a case is probably not a bad idea. Though as big as this thing is, it doesn't feel as fragile as the Playstation Vita or anything. Still enjoying mine. Surprised to see that 90 degrees Celsius is the typical and safe running temperature (190F) but Valve says as it gets closer to 100C it may get bogged down. I am glad they put the air flow out the top of it because it is like a heater. This way you don't notice it at all.

It's pretty amazing all things considered. I think I'm going to set up emudeck today.

Is there a good guide for setting up emulation? I don't really want to destroy the OS I'm using or make things weird. I'm honestly not even sure what I'd want to emulate. I'm having a blast playing my Steam titles without being glued to a PC/laptop.

just got my 512 deck in yesterday, i really wanna play with it, but money becoming tight so might have to sell it sadly, but its so tempting

Just got my confirmation email after reserving over a year ago. I went with the 256 model but don't know that I'll be keeping it.

Might sound weird but i've seen you can install FFXIV on the steam deck and make it work, it'd be good for me on the go with my phone as a hotspot when traveling in a car or something.

Yuzu is not 100% yet. I mean it's still playable but if you care about visual quality, it's not great for many games right now.

I think the older games run much better.

Live A Live for example, has graphical glitches.

Xenoblade 1's text is too hard to read.

I hear some games run really well though like Metroid Dread.

I dunno guys. This is everything the Vita should have been. You can literally almost play everything on it and extremely well. I wish the battery life was better but can't be helped due to the amount of power needed. The trade off for being comfortable to hold was a good choice. I'm probably going to hang onto mine. The heat makes me uneasy for longevity. I've seen some people opening theirs and adding new heat compound and it improving by 10 or so degrees, but not sure if I want to try it or not yet. Maybe if I consistently hit 100C.

I'm slowly getting through Stray as life allows. I'm looking forward to one day replaying Uncharted on it. Supposedly Ghost of Tsushima is coming to PC in the next 2 years and that'd be a good opportunity for me to replay it all since my child basically ruined the experience of it for me on my PS5 by deleting my nearly 100% save. (I'm password protected now, but still just can't go back to it on that platform.)

I agree it's pretty amazing. I wasn't set on keeping mine either. For me it scratches an itch I have (regarding handheld) had for so long... access to top tier quality gaming. The fact that it can, as you mentioned, play games with very little performance or graphical sacrifice it simply amazing.

Just got my e-mail for the 512 last night. Anyone know how long it takes to ship once you confirm the order? Looking forward to trying it out.

I might be cancelling mine. Just because, I want them to impliment a more streamlined easier gog inclusion. If they never do, eh. I do already have a micro PC so I can already play most of my gog games (cept a handheld controller would be better for shooters). I think just one of these small windows PCs that are handheld are a better option for me.

It's not like I'm going to play more demanding games on it. I play those on Series X and PS5.

what the hell, this thing doesn't have a D Pad. Are you guys playing any retro games on this? Like how would you play megaman for instance?

edit: I am an idiot, the D Pad is right next to the joystick. That's what I get for using it for the first time in my cave of a room.

I've been playing on the deck exclusively since I received it. Put the switch away... for now. There's just so many games that I've wanted to check out over the years that I didn't have access to being I game 100% hand held.

Has anyone tried remote play using Chiaki to PS5? If so, thoughts?

Edit: I just finished setting up Xbox cloud gaming beta. Played about 10 min of halo 4 just to get an idea of we'll it works. Ran flawlessly for those 10 mins.

I don't know what it is but Xbox Cloud Gaming Beta seems to work flawlessly on my Razer phone, but when I use it on the Xbox One w/ wired connection, it's crapty...

I haven't tried the Steam Deck yet for that... Mostly because I'm trying to get caught up on my studying for certification exams.

Tried to set up psnow. I can get it to launch and land on the Home Screen but the controls are not working. Read some forums, watched some videos then ultimately uninstalled it. I'd consider getting a ps5 to do remote play. I'll have to research that a bit more before making a commitment.

Got mine yesterday, can't believe this thing doesn't have a screen!

Mine has been here for a few days and I'm really enjoying it. I've only played Wreckfest, but it runs great with 60 FPS on high settings for ~1.5 hrs on max brightness. Battery life is my only complaint so far.

Playing GameCube, steam games, and 3ds games the past week. A few steam games in between.

All those ran well.

Struggling with Wii U (think it's wrong filetype Roms) and origin games. Can get origin games to launch from desktop but not steam itself.

Ya I am going to put W11 on it this weekend and get my Gamepass games into my steam library and really go to town on this thing.

Mine was supposed to come in on Thursday. Then, it changed to arriving early on Tuesday. Then, today it changed back to Thursday. Then, tonight, it changed to arriving early tomorrow. So, I might have it tomorrow? At this point, who knows?

My friend's 256 got stuck in ARKADELPHIA, AR a couple extra days but now is due Thursday 8/4

my 512 steam deck pre-order is up. But having second thoughts, likely won't get it. Partly due to the fact I already have a micro PC for older PC games, an emulator handheld for roms, and a PS5 and Series X. The steam deck would split up what I already have to run what I want. And I got 2 kittens and have already spent well over $1000 on them, toys, food, litter, and vet visits.

So if you want to piggyback me for this steam deck let me know. As long as it's someone I've done business with before, and feel comfortable doing it for, I'm up for it. Otherwise my window expires on aug 7th. So all day the 6th it's still on.

My resy is listed for Q4. Hopefully I get it soon.

@EricRPG the 512gb is selling for $850+ on eBay if nobody takes you up on this and you need to make some money for your cats.

Was playing mine and it said 3 hours left of play time and the battery was about 75 percent full. While playing it shutoff saying that the battery was depleted and steam had to shutdown ...wtf lol

Did you update the latest firmware? I saw a reddit post how the newest one (might be for beta testers only) was causing a lot of issues.

Has anyone had any luck running Saturn through EMU Deck/Emulation Station? I like their front end and just being able to select whichever game I want.

Or is only going through Retroarch possible? (Ive had to select core and then find the game file) Kind of a pain.
