22-Jul(#4)I've been thinking if I should get one of these. Nice to read that the speed improvements aren't that extreme, that makes it easier to decide to go for the cheaper model lol
Those reseller prices tho...

Exactly my situation. I have a PS5, series X, gaming laptop, PC, Switch, and now incoming Deck. Like I'm all about the gadgets but I honestly see myself returning this thing or selling to someone here pretty soon, I can't even really think of what I'd play on it that the switch can't do.
I was like oh crap Nier Automata but now Switch too...
But ya I'm thinking of using it to emulate like Windwaker and Twilight princess HD and maybe a few other things, like Windows 11.
I've also seen it run Metroid Dread at 60 FPS which is cool

23-Jul(#7)I'm really digging the deck. I only play hand held; switch and analogue pocket. Don't own any tethered consoles. So the deck has really expanded my gaming options. Been playing NBA 2k13, GTAV, checked out Hitman and played a few rounds of geometry wars.

23-Jul(#9)The thought had crossed my mind but I'm also a collector.

24-Jul(#14)It's pretty amazing all things considered. I think I'm going to set up emudeck today.

24-Jul(#19)Just got my confirmation email after reserving over a year ago. I went with the 256 model but don't know that I'll be keeping it.
longhornsk57

24-Jul(#20)Wouldn't be surprised we all list our Decks on here in a week or two
longhornsk57

25-Jul(#24)I hear some games run really well though like Metroid Dread.
loztdogs

26-Jul(#26)I agree it's pretty amazing. I wasn't set on keeping mine either. For me it scratches an itch I have (regarding handheld) had for so long... access to top tier quality gaming. The fact that it can, as you mentioned, play games with very little performance or graphical sacrifice it simply amazing.

26-Jul(#27)Just got my e-mail for the 512 last night. Anyone know how long it takes to ship once you confirm the order? Looking forward to trying it out.

* 29-Jul(#38)what the hell, this thing doesn't have a D Pad. Are you guys playing any retro games on this? Like how would you play megaman for instance?
edit: I am an idiot, the D Pad is right next to the joystick. That's what I get for using it for the first time in my cave of a room.

It has a dpad
longhornsk57

30-Jul(#42)Ya I'm used to it being under the stick not to the left
loztdogs

* 31-Jul(#44)I've been playing on the deck exclusively since I received it. Put the switch away... for now. There's just so many games that I've wanted to check out over the years that I didn't have access to being I game 100% hand held.
Has anyone tried remote play using Chiaki to PS5? If so, thoughts?
Edit: I just finished setting up Xbox cloud gaming beta. Played about 10 min of halo 4 just to get an idea of we'll it works. Ran flawlessly for those 10 mins.

1-Aug(#46)Tried to set up psnow. I can get it to launch and land on the Home Screen but the controls are not working. Read some forums, watched some videos then ultimately uninstalled it. I'd consider getting a ps5 to do remote play. I'll have to research that a bit more before making a commitment.

2-Aug(#52)Mine has been here for a few days and I'm really enjoying it. I've only played Wreckfest, but it runs great with 60 FPS on high settings for ~1.5 hrs on max brightness. Battery life is my only complaint so far.
Johnny

2-Aug(#53)Playing GameCube, steam games, and 3ds games the past week. A few steam games in between.
All those ran well.
Struggling with Wii U (think it's wrong filetype Roms) and origin games. Can get origin games to launch from desktop but not steam itself.
longhornsk57

2-Aug(#54)Ya I am going to put W11 on it this weekend and get my Gamepass games into my steam library and really go to town on this thing.

* 2-Aug(#55)Mine was supposed to come in on Thursday. Then, it changed to arriving early on Tuesday. Then, today it changed back to Thursday. Then, tonight, it changed to arriving early tomorrow. So, I might have it tomorrow? At this point, who knows?

I can top that. My friend's deck got expected delivery today (good news), fedex shows delivery completed but there's no package on the porch, worst yet someone they don't know signed for it (bad news). Luckily after an hour's worth of calling fedex and visiting them in-person it turns out the driver left the package at the local post office in an effort to curb porch pirating. Sure would've been nice if they told my friend this
Bleed_DukeBlue

3-Aug(#59)That sounds incredibly stressful. Luckily, mine did arrive today after all. I just powered it up and am going to start putting things on it.

Ah yes. Alternative Delivery Locations. UPS Started this because there is a huge problem with porch thefts and you have no control or say in it typically. Ultimately the driver is responsible in a lot of cases where he leaves a package where the area has been flagged problematic. Fedex sounds like they're figuring out how to do this too but not very good.
UPS has a package management system that alerts people typically via email/text/tracking when this happens, plus a notice is left on a door.

You have to add a non steam game and use origin. Then confit it and launch origin. Go under the game and set under launch options to -skipvideos. That should help but will skip cut scenes that origin uses for drm

ebay indefinitely suspended me like 12 years ago, 7000+ silver power seller, because my shipping time was really bad due to depression.

I am still thinking of selling mine, if I do and you want it it's a 256GB unit, with a 512GB Kingston card 100mbps. I'd sell it all at cost.
The deck is awesome I just have too many gadgets and work...

I'm up to date on stable branch. As soon as I plugged it in it turned back on (wouldn't turn on until I did) and then showed 47 percent battery

7-Aug(#76)Has anyone had any luck running Saturn through EMU Deck/Emulation Station? I like their front end and just being able to select whichever game I want.
Or is only going through Retroarch possible? (Ive had to select core and then find the game file) Kind of a pain.

The beauty of EmuDeck through the Steam Rom Manager is that, these tiles basically boot up the correct emulator and the correct settings without going through the RetroArch/standalone emulator menus.
And yes, I've tested many Saturn games (MKR, Dragon Force, SF3, Albert Odyssey), all ran fine.

I think I have way too many games downloaded. When I run steam rom manager it goes super slow to the point where I stop it because it's going to take forever to run through all the list. Is there a way to speed it up? It seems like it stops too after it goes through 1000 or so

Yeah I always feel a smaller more streamlined rom collection is always better and more fun. How do you guys like the placement of the dpad for retro games? (I might keep my retroid for older stuff, still unsure).
